    Gross, stained comforter

Disgusting. One of the worst hotels I've stayed at and I've stayed in many for both business and personal. Weird stains, weird smells, sticky floors, outlets don't work, shower doesn't drain, smoke alarm doesn't even have a battery.

Comfy bed w/ 5 pillows! Lots of space to relax too.

Room was very nice & very clean! Continental breakfast has big variety from bagels to eggs & waffles. Pool & hot tub were great! Girls @ the check in desk don't even acknowledge guests when they come in! Not the first time or at all. Seems to be too much effort to look up from their cellphone. Hotel is great except for that point. I am big on being personable when you work w/ the public.

I told the staff about the smell and filth in the bathroom. They gave me this as if they are doing me a favor! Horrible

Where is a negative star?!? Staff was rude and straight up ghetto! I have an emotional support animal, the manager yelled at me and told me to keep my dog quite, which wasn't even being loud. Then they switched my room to a filthy one, I don't even want to shower, it's that bad! Don't ever stay here! Worst hotel experience I've ever had period!!

The first night, my upstairs neighbor was stomping, pounding, dancing, walking loudly, exercising or something of the type well past dark, until 1 a.m. or so. I normally don't have trouble sleeping in hotels, but when the walls are literally shaking there's only so much that the fan and a white noise app can do. The second night, I heard the same ruckus start up by about 9:30 p.m. as I was checking emails and preparing for the next day. Having not gotten my full night of sleep the day before, I was immediately filled with dread that I was in for another long night. I went downstairs to speak to the employee at the front desk (I'm sorry I didn't jot down her name) and explained the situation, asking if I could move rooms or we could find another solution. She very kindly offered to go speak to the resident(s) of the room above me and said if the noise continued after that, she could move me to a room on the 4th floor--just call down to the front and she could bring up the key. I have no idea what she said to my upstairs neighbor, but it absolutely worked. The noise died down, and I got a great night of sleep. Everything else about this hotel was great--super clean, great amenities and a modern, streamlined interior. Would stay here again (but maybe only on the top floor).

I was told checkout is 12pm. Tell me why housekeeping is trying to get into my room at 10:50am?!?! Front desk told me housekeeping should already know checkout isn't until 12 too... - I was not comped or offered anything for all or any of these issues.

I recently stayed at this Westin when a missed connection landed me in Detroit for the evening…read more Let me first say that this is a beautiful hotel. High ceilings in the lobby and just has an overall chic feel. I arrived and they quickly found me a room, which I was so grateful after a long day of travel delays. My room was spacious with a large window to further provide a very open feel. The room at first glance was lovely but upon further inspection there were some dubious stains on surfaces (the desk, the bathroom counter, the floor). I tried cleaning the one off the desk and bathroom counter with the disinfectant wipes I had but no dice--they were definitely stains (rusty red ones at that). I also was never able to access the wifi while I was here (they never got the room attached to my name for access), which was frustrating as, of course, I had some appointments to shuffle with the change in flight schedule. The room was also noisy and I could easily hear my neighbors talking (and it's not like they were shouting) in the room with the adjoining door. Thankfully, they quieted down not long after I went to bed but could be annoying if someone has a much different schedule and is talking early or late. That said, the bed was comfy and I was able to sleep well. For solo traveling girlies--many of their rooms are adjoining and have the second interior door. If you (like me) don't prefer this, you may want to mention. I'm not sure if there's any other available but I didn't mention and got a room with an adjoining door. Overall a bit of a mixed bag for me.

They purposely closed the indoor pool from Thursday-Saturday. With no logical explanation. Very disappointed with another Hilton brand. AVOID!

When I went to checkin around 10 pm with my elder mom, and 3 kids, the desk clerk, Ava, stated that my staff member needed to physically be there with me. I explained that she asked about the process and followed the instructions given and was told she did not have to be present, but Ava continued stating the same. I asked how was I supposed to know of the change, she lied and said she called the # on file. When I asked for the #, she gave me MY number (not the staff member) and lied and said she left a voicemail. I explained how I'd been answering all calls (hence funeral arrangements) and did not receive a missed call or voicemail. I even asked if I could book for one night at the AAA rate which I was aware was available. She lied again and stated that I'd have to do that online, she couldn't do it...although she initally told me she was a supervisor. She also said the person who let the staff member add my name had been reprimanded. The hotel manager did call and apologize the following day (after I had to figure out how to sleep my family in a different hotel), stating that Ava should NOT have refused the rooms, that she SHOULD have honored my name on the room, and the staff member had indeed NOT been reprimanded (another lie). This apology was too little too late as I had to scramble to figure out rebooking of 3 rooms for 9 people at the last minute. I will NEVER give Hilton Garden another opportunity to treat me this way. I explained I was in town for a funeral, we followed every direction given, they did NOT keep their word, and Ava did not lift ONE FINGER to help me, make one phone call, try ANY accomodation....NOTHING. Simply unbelieveable!

The first room that I've gotten full of cigarette smoking smell, and my room that I was given up to some other customer because I came late and I already had my room. We got there well before check in time but she got us checked right into a nice room. We went to the restaurant which was just opening for lunch. Only one guy was working, Dave. Nicola the bartender was awesome as was Angelica at the front desk. The banquet room we had our first reunion event in on Friday night was freezing and on Saturday night at our banquet the room was hot. But overall things were ok. My main complaint is we were overcharged for our room for the two nights of the reunion. We were supposed to get a group rate but we were overcharged by $40 each night. Angelica was the only person who made an effort to fix that. I've left two messages with the property assistant manager, Greg, but have gotten no response. So we ended up paying $80 more than we should have.

I literally squatted to pee. And slept on the side of the bed in horror. A water bottle of mine fell under the sofa and I grabbed it full of dust. I was barefoot after taking a shower and walked onto something on the floor by the bed. Unsure this bed was not used before me. I didn't complain, took another shower and just got on my way. Forgot to email Marriott. Will never go back to this location while in Detroit. Don't take my word for it, look at the pictures, they're telling.

I had to request an ironing board. The microwave out side my room didn't work. I can't watch TV without it buffering every 15 minutes. I can't get all the channels, I might as well be watching Tubi. No hot water during prime time so take your show early before the ball. Curtains torn, water leaks stains on the ceiling. I've been sucking dust and sneezing for two day. According to one friend, the first 2-3 rooms they tried didn't have working a/c (and it's July, currently). The only caveat: the door didn't lock. If you turned the knob upwards instead of down, it unlocked, no key needed. The pool was smallish but overall nice. There were a few large families/groups there, like groups of 5-10 people, but it's a Sunday so I suppose that's why.
