These guys apparantly rocked it. This was my first experience in hiring an HVAC company and due to the odd situation, Comfy Cave was chosen for me. He inspected a VERY old furnace and quoted a reasonable fee to replace it with a high efficiency model, with up to code venting, of course. He was professional, timely, and according to the permit inspector, he and his team did a bang up job. He quioted me about a day and a half, finished in a day and offered to come over the next day to instal AC, which I passed on for the time being. But when we decide we need it, Von and his team are the ones we will call. They left the place clean, were respectful and for the moment I couldn't be happier. I'll let you know if anything changes this winter, but I have a strong suspicion we're going to be very comfy (and safe) in our cave for years to come. Update: furnace is working wonderfully and my boyfriend's father actually was having trouble with his furnace so he called Von and his crew... couldn't be happier that they don't need a new furnace and it was able to be fixed so promptly! read more

The furnace was the original, 1993. The pilot light went out. The motor still ran, but no heat. The technician came out and cleaned all the parts. The pilot light came on, the motor ran and there was heat. The very nice technician said "I don't know what I did to get the furnace to start again. The furnace is old and some of the parts are very dirty. I recommend a new furnace, or it may stop again." His advice was taken. A new furnace was ordered, an installation date was set. There is now a new furnace in the apartment unit. It is superb. It is twice as small as the old one and three times as efficient. Thank you Comfy Cave and all your technicians. read more

Von had been referred to us by a friend. I was expecting it was going to be a big deal, but it turned out to be trivial (and inexpensive). Then, hen the blower on the furnace needed to be replaced, i knew i wasn't getting taken advantage of - because the last time we had problems, i'd been treated honestly. Von's team has been similar. We have used Comfy Cave a couple times for regular maintenance for our furnace and our AC. When our AC stopped working, I was worried it was the end (the unit is at least 25 years old). To my surprise it was a $300 fix with a new part. Our technician, Tracy, did not once mention that we should get a new AC unit, but when I asked him about the age and the longevity of the machine he said it wasn't a bad idea to replace before the heat of the summer if it was something we were considering doing and that manufacturers are rising prices and things could be getting more and more expensive. We decided to replace the old unit before it went out in the heat of the summer and before costs rise. I got a second bid from another company, and Comfy Cave's estimate was 25% less than the other company. Comfy Cave got us on the schedule within a couple of weeks. On installation day, Tracy and his associate showed up early and got right to work. They did an outstanding job and completed everything in a timely manner. They even helped us remove some unsightly planters that were in the way of access to the AC (only one was necessary to remove, but they offered to remove the second one for us since we didn't like them). They also offered to put the cement base (from our old AC unit) in front of our shed as a nice little step. Needless to say - Tracy was an absolute pleasure to work with and we are so happy we went with Comfy Cave. read more

We were very, very happy with the service from Comfy Cave. We have hot water heat, powered by a 97-year-old boiler -- originally coal burning, but converted to gas. It works perfectly! But sometimes I worry about a system that old. Tracy from Comfy Cave showed up (right on time) and checked it over thoroughly. It was the hottest week ever and our AC decided to stop working. We were told to replace the amp and did, then the AC went out again. Von with Comfy Cave came out - it was already very late into the evening. He had to trouble shoot to figure out why the system kept shutting down. He did every kind of maintenance item possible, finally went into the electrical box and found that the new amp the electrician replaced was hot. He switched two of the amps and got the AC working AND it has been working great ever since. That certainly is better then replacing the system which we already had a bid to do. Waited 4 days with 98+ temperatures for a service call back to fix our air conditioner through a company our home warranty company picked. When I finally called the company myself, I was told he couldn't come before July. This was mid-June. The home warranty company finally contacted Comfy Cave and they came same day!!! Our heater was blowing cold air. I called and they were able to fit me in the next day. They were on time, called when on his way and did a amazing job. He checked my thermostate and ran different tests to make sure everything was working perfect. I only had to pay the service fee. I wasn't charged for any unneeded tests. This company is amazing and fair! I will always use them. Also a few years ago, my heater gave out in the middle of a snow storm. I called and they fit me in the next day which was Saturday. They had to replace my heater. A few days later I had a brand new heater. And they were the second company I had come out that time. He will tell you if something is really a problem, or if it is a mere annoyance or non-issue. He is not one of these services who is just looking to sell you a new unit. If it can be fixed, and it is cost effective to do so, he will. He has saved acquaintances of mine thousands of dollars. They were told by different HVAC companies that a new unit was needed, but when Von came in, he was able to fix the problem at a fraction of the cost of new unit. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Two days after being released from the hospital with my newborn, my water heater gas valve went out. I called a company who had come out before and asked them to take a look at it. They did and wanted to charge me $1100 for the gas valve alone. Overwhelmed, worried, and upset, I called Comfy Cave and received a return call in a timely manner. Hillary called me and was so kind and compassionate and assured me that someone would come to my home that day to assess the situation. Shortly thereafter, Mike came to my home and took a look at the water heater. He did quote me a new gas valve for hundreds less but also quoted me a new heater since mine was 2 years past it's warranty anyway. If you've ever had a newborn, you know that sleep deprivation is taken to a whole other level. Mike answered all of my and my mom's questions in addition to my tears and worries. I opted to replace it and they worked to get it in that night. They were all busy with other jobs but they pulled strings to get hot water back in my house because they are nice and kind people. It's easy to make good business decisions. But Hillary and Mike made the human and compassionate decisions to help me in the kindest way. The top 2 benefits of this company is a) they are really smart about what they do and b) they are very trustworthy. I've been using them for 12+ years, and my oarents have been using them for over 10 years. When I recently bought a new house I asked Von to come out to assess the furnace and water heater and he was quick to tell me that, though the furnace was old, it was in good shape and didn't need to be replaced yet. I am the type to research decisions and it is SO NICE to have someone I trust enough that I can take his word for it and not spend lots of time researching. I've had previous experience with other techs who looked at bids from other companies and explained why the work wasn't all necessary, taking the time to explain it to me fully. I recently had them here to assess why my house was so cold, thinking it was the new thermostat, and in 5 minutes they figured out it was the filter. I'm regularly grateful for having a company I trust, only having to make one phone call to get things fixed. I decided to put a new water heater in my new house and it took one phone call and 10 days to get it done last week. They are not the cheapest, and definitely not the most expensive. I am NOT someone who likes to pay extra for things and I tend to always be looking for good deals.
