Owner is there for the buyers benefit; there to help if you need not if you don't. Smaller store but has things other stores wont have or not have anymore. Owner knows which comics are top shelf/ different things that would interest anyone, in indie comics. My kid has recently discovered comics, so we took her on a tour of PDX area comics shops last weekend. While we were generally impressed with most of what Portland has to offer (and who wouldn't be?), it was nearby Comic Cave that had the best overall atmosphere. We walked away impressed, educated, and will definitely be returning very soon. Great store. read more

Imagine what the perfect comic book shop would be like. Fully stocked. Neat building. Awesome owner. Cool businesses (like a movie theater, bars, and pizza by the slice) a few feet up the road. Now kick that up to 11 and you still won't know how amazing this place is until your second trip here when Doug greets you by name. :). This is _easily_ the best comic book store I have been to. I don't say that in an off-handed manner as I have known some kick ass places, but Doug has carved out something special here in St. Johns. read more

Love the new Kenton location! Bigger space with same great selection and exceptional customer service. Came for a signing event of Flavor , written by Joe Keatinge and drawn by Wook Jin Clark . Both guys were super approachable and charmers to talk to. Really enjoyed getting to hear from them about their new project in such a welcoming space. Nice to have a comic shop in St.Johns. Went in today to pick up some early Christmas gifts for my kids. It's a small space but has a good selection, happily does special orders, and has good customer service. I was able to find two books I was looking for, a few new titles and ordered a big Buffy Season 8 library edition for my daughter for Christmas. Perfect. Highly recommend. read more

Comic Cave is my favorite comic book store that I've ever gone to. This isn't a slight on the other shops, but rather a huge compliment to the owner, Doug. While the shop is small in size, it's huge in customer service and a personal touch that seems to be lost in most contemporary stores. Not only is Doug friendly and knowledgeable, but after only a couple of visits to the store, he started to understand my tastes and interests. He has a knack for figuring out comics that I might be interested in, goes out of his way to help me get the issues or trades that I'm looking for, and will even steer me away from a comic if he doesn't think I'll like it. The honesty and kindness I get from Doug is why I would highly recommend Comic Cave to anyone and everyone. read more
