POOR excuse of an "educational institution" How is there not more oversight?…read more I took the 2 year applied skills counselling program. The program is run very poorly. In our first year: they didn't give a single grade on any feed back on ANY work until at least December. Our instructor was barred from being a counsellor, had 21 counts or so of professional misconduct and she was teaching ETHICS. Instructors for classes were chosen incredibly last minute so students were in limbo as to when the next class would start. (As though we don't have jobs, kids and lives of our own) We are end of June, there has been no communication as to whether we will have a practicum in our last year, complete our last class or if we will finish. Pandemic aside, there is little to no communication or consideration of students. Apparently they think we can wait around then jump at the drop of a hat. This is just a small fraction of issues. I've gone to U of M and loved it! No issues there. Save your money and go some place reputable, unless you want to "buy" your certification.

He had the same teacher when he started at CRS in grade 6. His younger brothers also went to CRS, with Roy leaving his name carved into the brick at the front door of the main school..between the door and the window of the principals office...the name was still there I about 1960... My teachers were as follows...grade 2, 3, ...Miss Hughes grade 4...Miss Cruikshank (that was the year Weston School and the wartime houses were built), our grade four class had 41 students. Grade 5...Mrs. McConnel Grade 6...Mrs, McDougal Grade 7...Mr. Martin Grade 8...Miss Shackle Grade 9...Mr. Leckie The year of the Red River flood, the basement washrooms in the 'big' school flooded...school was closed in early May. Tech Voc school opened about the year before our class graduated from grade nine. One of our classmates, walked to school at CRS from St James, across the prairie to Weston...because Weston was at that time on the western edge of the city, there was no protection from the cold winds...but she rarely missed a class. A very well run school. The school was granted last year with over $60000 worth of new books from…read moreindigo!!. The building has an elevator for students with physical limitaions. The large playground is very engaging for students of all abilities, which includes a new oodle swing which is suitable for people with physical limitations, and a new slide is on its way as their parent council raised funds to purchase last year. They also have raised garden beds that the students plant different plants in . The staff go above and beyond to engage their students by providing free after school clubs throughout the year. Champlain School teaches the 7 Grandfather teaching to all students and teach their students to be proud of their cultural backgrounds, and inclusive to all. They even hold community pot luck dinners about 2x a year. This school has a free breakfast program for all students who want breakfast, if the student is late they r welcome to have breakfast during morning recess. Students r also offered a fruit or vegetable snack every morning (courtesy of the Canadian Nutrition Council). Parents are welcomed into the school everyday where they could spend time in a staffed Parent room where there are resources available for them to access, or just to connect with other parents and have a cup of coffee. The parent room also offers different activities for parents with preschoolers who need some adult interaction, thats been a lifesaver for some Moms. Champlain students produce amazing work, some of which was recognized by the Canadian Rights Museum in Winnipeg! Awesome! The school is very secure with a 'buzz in' system and security cameras throughout, including outside. Keep up the good work Champlain!!
