I was recommended Commonwealth Psychology for neuropsychiatric testing, and went through their process to perform those tests. Involved over-the-phone intake, then an in-person interview to provide context & hIstory. The tests themselves were a 3-4 hour affair, involving all manner of things, designed to test recall, association, sequencing, and various other cognitive capabilities. After the test, I returned for a followup to review the initiaL results & discuss any next steps. Throughout this, the staff were excellent & helpful, and Dr. Centi was warm, understanding, and answered all of my questions. The results of the testing were helpful, and give me an updated understanding of myself. Highly recommended if you are in need of cognitive testing, and I'm considering following up with behavioral therapy. read more

Incompetent staff. The provider I saw, Chiajou Lou, wasted my time with an intake and initial appointment, and then proceeded to claim she couldn't see me due to a "scheduling error." This place SUCKS. I was referred here by my PCP because I am looking for a new psychiatrist. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with them doing an intake, they called me two days later to say "they couldn't take my case because I'm too complicated medically." I have a VERY common hormonal disorder (read: effects 1 in 10 women and likely closer to 20% including women who are undiagnosed) and this is treated by my PCP but commonwealth claimed they couldn't see me for medication management because of this. Commonwealth Psychology provided a top-notch trio of neuropsychologist, therapist (with PhD in clinical psych; I think most or all of their therapists do), and psychiatric nurse practitioner ("psychiatrist") for me. As long as you have genuine mental health problems and are willing to adhere to the relevant laws then Commonwealth will be able to provide top-tier service for you, especially when compared to alternatives around the New England area. As a comparison, I've seen some top psychiatrists (by citations on Pubmed) at one of MGH's clinical and research programs and the quality of care was similar to that of Commonwealth. However, the wait list for new patients at MGH is usually many months or even 1+ years, so it might make sense to go to Commonwealth instead. On the other end of the spectrum, I've seen some local (within or near Burlington) therapists and nurse practitioners before Commonwealth and the local ones were shockingly incompetent. I strongly suggest you visit someone qualified, especially if this is the first time you're being evaluated. Commonwealth also employs first-rate people in both the front office (intake coordinators, customer service, etc.) and back office (infrastructure, billing, etc.). I've dealt with both offices and had absolutely no complaints. There are some negative reviews below, and I think those are likely due to: 1) Selection bias of who chooses to post reviews 2) Miscommunication between patient and practitioner; thus I suggest doing some homework (DSM5, etc.) beforehand so that you'll be better able to communicate with your practitioner 3) Some of their requests may have been unreasonable or (borderline) illegal and thus obviously Commonwealth could not adhere read more

Commonwealth Psychology Associates is the all time worst mental health practice I have ever been to. If you don't want 7 hours of your day wasted for the wrong diagnosis do not go here!! I went here because I have ADHD and was prescribed medication for it for 7 years. I stopped taking the meds a few years ago because I felt I no longer needed them to be successful. After a few years my condition came back and I needed to get back on the meds again. My primary care physician referred me to this place called Commonwealth Psychology Associates for help. When I got there they made me put my whole life story down on paperwork which took over 30 minutes. Then they sat me down with a psychologist fresh out of school who did a full hour interview with me. I explained I was there to get back on he meds I was on for 7 years but she still insisted on the interview which covered my whole life up until present. I didn't feel all the extra personal information was necessary based on my reason for being there. After the interview they did nothing to discuss my reason for being there and said now you have to schedule another appointment for 2 weeks away so we can go over the interview results and come up with the right test questions. I said "test?, what test?" They replied "oh yes sir you have to come back and do a 6 hour test in 2 weeks." I figured if this was the only way to get my meds back I had to do it, so I agreed. Two weeks later I went back and they literally put me in a room with a recent college grad to administer a 6 hour test. The test consisted of games, drawings, blocks, riddles, written essays, and 400 multiple choice questions. It was a joke, there is no way someone can diagnose an individual based on these silly brain teaser games. Anyway, once the test was complete they now wanted me to schedule another appointment for another 2 weeks away!! You guessed it, it was to go over those results! So having no other choice I followed suit and went back two weeks later. When I arrived they put me in the room with the original psychologist to go over the test results. After going through the results it was clear that I had ADHD. However, she did not feel comfortable diagnosing me with ADHD again because it wasn't a "severe" enough case. Instead, based on the test results, she wanted to diagnose me with depression!!! I still didn't get to see the psychiatrist, she just wanted me to agree I had depression and forget about the real issue which was ADHD. So, since I've never been depressed and am very happy for the most part I disagreed and she wouldn't budge. The only reason I showed depression in the test was because I was aggravated from wasting my time with this place and not being able to do well in life without the ADHD medication. I told her I strongly disagree, she wasted two full days worth of my time, and I would simply get my medication from a doctor that wants to help people solve their REAL problems. So I walked out of her office and told her she wouldn't be hearing from me ever again. The next day I called another mental health doctor that I was referred to and he prescribed me my ADHD medication in less than 20 minutes of speaking with him. So, my problem has been solved! I want to recognize Commonwealth Psychology Associates for being inexperienced, a waste of time, and a disgrace to the mental health profession. If I had followed their lead and not gotten a second opinion, I would be failing at both my job and my family life which have both drastically improved since I was re-prescribed my medication. read more

I've gone here for a psych assessment and diagnosis and they were fine. I called to make an appointment and was told to fill out a lengthy online form. I got an appointment and a young woman (psychologist?) asked me a series of questions over 2 sessions and then I was mailed a report with a diagnosis of anxiety. For this report, I paid out of pocket since my insurance didn't cover it. My experience with the assessment was fine. Then, when I tried to follow up to get treatment, I was told to start all over again with the process. I was told to complete an online intake, which I have already done. I really had to assert myself with them that I already did the online intake and have a diagnosis, and the person on the phone finally agreed to give me an appointment with a psychiatrist for medications. Really, why is it so hard to make an appointment? When I met the psychiatrist, he then proceeded to do a psych assessment on me again. Why didn't he read the one that was already written on me? I also tried to get an appointment with a therapist, and I was told to do the online intake once again. Being told for the fourth time to do an intake was too much. I went outside their group practice and I'm seeing a therapist and psychiatrist elsewhere. It was far easier to get appointments with other people than through this place. If you've ever had to call your cell phone company and you press the buttons and it keeps bringing you through a telephone loop back to the original recording, the experience of trying to get treatment here is very similar. read more

I almost did not bother to call them because of some of the negative remarks in other people's reviews. Let me tell you 100% that they went above and beyond for me and I couldn't of been happier. Please if your looking for their services don't hesitate to call. If you don't wanna read my whole review just know they will give you what your looking for!! CALL!! I will respond to some of the negative remarks at the bottom, but first the positives! I called numerous places and CPA was the first and only practice to call me back. They immediately gave me an appointment for the next week. The lady on the phone was friendly and explained the whole process. The day of my appointment I was nervous and not sure what to expect. I arrived and I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Ida Kellison. She was very professional and immediately put me at ease. She was friendly and genuine, and explained to me how the test works, and how the process goes after. She then began asking me some questions and next thing I knew I opened up more than I ever have in my life. The words kept coming and I somehow was able to tell her everything about me, things I never share. She took everything in, with a smile on her face the whole time, and never made me feel judged or uncomfortable. She had a way of just putting you at ease, the hour I spent with her flew by. I see a counselor and a psychiatrist normally, and I shared with her more in just the 2 times we met than I've ever shared with them. She also gave me more advice, suggestions, and thoughts on things I was concerned with than my other people ever have. Questions that were brushed off by my counselor were discussed at length with her, and made me feel so much better. I then went for my multi hour neuropsych test. The tester was friendly and professional, and the test is challenging but very intriguing. I went back for my test results and met with Dr. Kellison again, and it was the same thing, just a natural ability to make you comfortable. She gave me a copy of my results and went over it all and explained literally everything. She basically operates on your brain without a scalpel, I had never learned so much about myself!! It was an amazing experience!! What impressed me most with Dr. Kellison at CPA was what she did for me after. After you go over your test results she takes about 2 weeks to put together basically a book about your brain. It contained a full diagnosis, suggestions, test results, referrals, books, next steps to take, and much more. Well I got a last minute appointment with my psychiatrist that ordered the test , and this was only a few days after seeing her, and he needed the findings before he'd move forward working with me. I knew it was still about 2 weeks too soon but I made a phone call. I spoke to someone that works directly for her, and explained the situation, and went to my psych appointment planning on giving bad news. I walked in and my psychiatrist told me he had received over a 9 page diagnosis, and summary of her diagnosis and findings. My psych was utterly impressed with the thoroughness of her report, and was able to move forward with me because of her. After that second meeting she knew I was no longer any sort of patient to her, yet she went out of her way 2 weeks early to write something up, obtain his contact information, and get the info to him before my appointment. I would give Dr. Kellison 10 stars if I could, she made me feel like she genuinely cared about me and my life, and made me feel she really wanted to help me become a better person. Her actions proved it, she went out of her way on her own time to make sure I got the help I needed!! If all the people at CPA are anything like her then there's no other place to go, and if your lucky enough to meet with Dr. Kellison, you won't regret it!! Give them a call you really will be glad you did. I was treated in a friendly, non-judgmental way every step of the way. You won't find a better place!! Now to touch on a couple negative remarks I heard. One person said they were upset with the process, that they had to go for initial testing, then 2 weeks later go for results, and then another 2 weeks you would get your results in the mail. Well in defense of CPA, on my initial phone call with them, the lady made a point to explain that's how the process went, and made sure to ask that I was ok with it. 2 weeks is not a lot of time to go through everything they do and make a diagnosis. They lay it all out before, this was not their wrongdoing! Secondly, I read someone was upset the person giving the test was "just out of college". Well the only requirement for giving the test is an ability to read, she doesn't interpret your answers, she literally just reads the instructions and times you! To have a doctor give this all day multi hour test would be a waste of time and resources CPA was great, if your looking for their type of services CALL THEM!! read more

Does not care about their existing patients so I could never recommend to anyone looking for help..They caused more stress this week than a place that is suppose to help. STAY AWAY CARE ONLY ABOUT $$ and will drop you if your doctor leaves practice...nope won't even move patient to see new dr. A patient on controlled drugs. Nice way to treat your patient. read more
