Communicycle is a Christian nonprofit that was founded in 2011 and centers around bicycles. Its volunteers perform services of collecting, repairing, and giving away bicycles for both children and adults. The goal is to use bicycles to connect people and build community. Communicycle gives away bikes from either the Beaver Valley Mall or the Communicycle Shop in Monaca. I encountered their store in the mall. I felt impressed to see a huge assortment of used bicycles for children and adults squeezed into a few storefronts. Most of the bicycles appeared to be decades old but were in very good condition. I think that this work is wonderful, and I hope that all of the many, many bicycles find new owners and are put to good use. read more

It's all about the kids. These guys are keeping the kids engaged in a productive activity, learning new skills, and learning about Jesus at the same time. A kid (or an adult for that matter) can get a bike in return for volunteering at the shop for some hours. Whether that volunteer work is working on their own bike or helping someone else work on theirs.... Or they can earn their bike by volunteering with some other local church or community service organization. This is a great place and a much needed service for the community! read more

Since 2016 this non-profit group of folks has been bringing some delightful productions to the community with some very talented thespians, directors, production crews, and artists of all kinds to put on a variety of outstanding productions. My daughter has been in shows here and I had a distinct pleasure, on Father's day, of attending a most excellent production of "Harps and Harmonicas". She is currently looking to be in one or more productions here in the near future and I have been impressed with the people involved in this great little community theater both out front and behind the scenes. This season (202) has The Boys Next Door, The Mad Ones, Doubt: A Parable and Musical on tap so far this season. Bottom line: They need more parking so if you don't arrive early you might be pressed to seek it out on the surrounding streets, the theater isn't huge but it's quaint and there are some really talented folks here with a lot of heart. What they do here is not a small feat. What goes into to what they accomplish here is many man hours of a dedicated workforce. On top of those that are employed this place also depends on the many that walk through those doors and chip in whenever they can. While here I was told that some of the volunteer days that they have planned are booked months in advance. The facility is top notch and runs like a well oiled machine. However they have said that they have already outgrown this facility space. Even though that may be the case, they don't let that stop their mission. The families that the GPCFB reach are many and without them would not be able to maintain a home life that is perceived as normal. What little you can give is greatly appreciated and there are donation bins inside the front doors. Did you know that they get more donations for items that are considered junk food than healthy food items? That trail mix does seem nutritious, but what really helps them out was that fruits, vegetables, meat and the like.

Unfortunately at that time we weren't ready to move forward with the project. Fast forward to now. I had reached back out, Mike had double checked the measurements and provided and updated quote. We had the door ordered and once it arrived we had the installation scheduled. The installation team was great they communicated their estimated arrival and did a thorough job installing the new door. They also walked through features of the opener and how to sync to the keypad.
