The amount of stuff they do every day is light years beyond what I would do with them if I were a stay at home mom. My older daughter JUST turned 4 and is starting to sound out words. She knew all of her letter right after she turned 3. My younger daughter has a few learning issues- she was nonverbal long after her friends all started talking and has some sensory integration issues. I had her assessed, but she ended up not needing services and I think a lot of that reason is because she's in this school. They are both so loved and cared for- the teachers become part of our family. On a more practical side, I LOVE the diversity that they are both exposed to. They completely take for granted that people come in all forms and I love that. I also love that they were both exposed to Spanish (at my request) when they were babies. I can't speak any other language no matter how hard I try. I really hope they can break that pattern! They get: - formal music classes every week - Pictures emailed to me every day showing me what they do - An awesome literacy and math program - Pizza lunch every Friday - Teachers who love them and are dedicated to what they do. I'm already getting nervous about leaving, and that's years away!

So, I just called this school about how one of there teachers refuses bathroom breaks for my niece…read moreand her classmates when they have to go, I called because it got to the point that my niece came home upset the other day because her classmate had an accident in class because the teacher refused when he needed to go to the bathroom and when I called the school to say something they basically called us liars and sided with the teacher. I work in childcare and the fact is allowing there teachers to refuse bathroom breaks is neglectful and endangering children. They want to deny the kids a bathroom break which could cause serious issues to the kids and I think it is not right. I hope the superintendent sees this and does something about the neglectful school and it's teachers! It's unbelievable and the fact they won't help when we call and tell them is beyond disgusting to me!

For example, we do science experiments (like getting caterpillars and watching them transform into butterflies!), and I like to incorporate different languages into our lessons and songs to celebrate other cultures. My favorite activity is actually doing puzzles with the children. It's fun, educational, practices hand-eye coordination, and is a great opportunity to be on their level and connect with them. Of course, circle time is also special, when I get to know each one of them personally. I think parents often have the idea that a high-quality child care program has to have a lot of fancy equipment. But the value of the program is really in the educators themselves. I am a professional teacher, and I draw on decades of experience when running my program. There's a lot that goes into teaching and child care that isn't always obvious at first glance, and it definitely isn't as simple as having the latest toys or technology.
