If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Our small neighborhood hired this company to collect overdue HOA fees. Since they began, they have only harassed us and made up false violations. They seem to be pocketing money from several other neighborhoods in the area too. Do Not Hire! They sent me a violation for having a vehicle parked in front MY HOUSE for a few hours, when the rules clearly state it can be there for less than 12 hours. I have camera proof it was not there for over 12 hours, but since they only come check once a month, it apparently is a violation no matter what. You can park the whole month in the road, except for the one day these people come through. Horrible company! We spend way too much for them to try to enforce a rule in which they have no evidence for. Jayda Barrilleaux was not helpful whatsoever either. The burden of proof falls on the accuser. My landlord has been dealing with these people over a replacement mailbox key (that the previous tenant lost). Rather than going to the post office and getting a key made, they have made it their mission to hold my mail hostage and give illegal resolutions to open the box (drill out the lock, get the mailman to hand me my mail, make a key at Lowes, etc.). They took a $50 key fee and went to Lowes to make a key that cannot be made (because the mailbox belongs to the Federal Government). I don't know if these people are morons, or they just don't care. We have a tenant in our community who smokes weed 24/7 and has smelt up all the condos on the sides and below him with weed. This is a DRUG FREE community and it is illegal but community management will not do their job, or even respond to emails about doing their jobs! How this company is in business is BEYOND me. All I've heard are horrible, ATROCIOUS things about them. I do not know why any community would choose them for their HOA. Many of us have complained about the tenant who is using illegal drugs, playing loud music, and screaming, yes screaming arguements and threats to people. We have complained, asked him, asked community management, done everything we can to get the rules enforced and our condos not reeking of weed!!!! This has got to be taken care of!! Well, please see below my MANY attempts to get a response. I have emailed everyone I can at community management, reached out to my board in my condo to also contact community manangemt (which they have at no success), called the office HUNDREDS of times but everyone is either "at lunch" "on vacation" "sick" "not here today" and also sent Facebook messages with photos/videos attached! NOTHING has been responded too! I don't know how those people have their jobs. They never work! They aren't there!! I am telling you, do NOT get community management as your HOA. And if you are looking at a community that uses them, FORGET IT - RUN, don't walk, far far away from this company. Many people I know, are moving. Yes, physically moving to another home to get away from them. It is that bad! They do nothing and we as home owners pay them to NOT manage our community, just send out bulletins each month saying "Month" financials are due!!! Literally that's what you are paying them to do, remind you to pay them again! I check "front steps" which they use and the only notices posted are "June, July, August, etc etc" financials are due. update march 6, 2022...(caps to differentiate from initial review) if you want to take a look at a management situation going from bad to worse..look no further than community management, our current manager is sharla young. since my initial review, our subdivision is now completed and we have a residential board as of july 27, 2021. however, all financial issues and vendor hiring is through the company not the residents on the board. please note..southern lifestyle is no longer part of our governing board. it is community managements job to collect and manage funds, in addition to hiring vendors such as landscape and pool vendors for example. as of the july 2021, we have over 70,000.00 in debt due to non-payment of hoa dues, fines and liens. our landscaping was paid for but as you can see from current photos not maintained. our pool furniture is again destroyed, as you can see from current photos. i personally have called for it not to be replaced again due to the current debt in addition to the fact that this is repeatedly ruined. there is absolutely no reason residents can not bring their own chairs, etc. to the pool and that would eliminate to reoccurring cost to the residents. pool equipment such as life preserver, etc. should be replaced as needed, but this has been neglected. landscaping at the entrances is not maintained once planted through out the seasons. the common areas have benches that are deteriorated and growing their own fungus as you can see from the picture. they simply need to be removed and not replaced due to the fact some are in standing water when it rains and this will reoccur due to unleveled concrete by subdivisions developers. garbage cans are in full view in over half the subdivision, i have added a few photos which is non compliance, the amount of non compliance does not match the amount of fines as of last financial report. this tells you that the garbage cans in street view is now no big deal it seems. sidewalks continue to be overgrown. i personally did not receive a hardcopy mailing or email for my hoa dues for january-june 2022, i fully believe this was intentional due to the fact that i have stood firm on my emails to ms. young in regarding the election and poor property management. there has been and still is a huge communication problem with this company. if there is a new set of governing rules regarding trash cans, lawns, maintenance, etc., i am not aware and if so i did not receive that either. it should also be noted that the residents have not had a subdivision meeting since the new resident board was elected in july 2021. community managements contract is up for renewal this fall according to documentation sent to me by president, please see photo for date and rules on auto renewal or cancellation of services. moss bluff estates/moss bluff subdivision is overseen by this company for southern lifestyle developers. what a joke! hoa rules are not enforced concerning trailer/flat bed parking, pool problems from day one and they continue, retention ponds over grown, yards and personal landscaping look bad and have ornaments in them not consistent with rules. the last meeting was a joke as moderator cut you off every time you tried to speak and kept saying we need to get y'all out of here as soon as possible. you only meet once a year and there is a lot to discuss finances, complaints and ideas to improve. make adequate time for a meeting that's only yearly. the only thing you can count on for sure from them is that they want your money on time but do nothing for you but give you the run around on just about everything. very disappointing as i moved into an hoa neighborhood for consistency in beauty of subdivision and care for property shared by owners and rules to be properly enforced. when you pay for something you expect a follow through and you definitely don't get it here. update: i was phoned and asked to revise my review. i think not, until i see a change and actually get what i pay for i will continue to add photos. 5 response from the owner2 years ago ms. cormier, we are sorry about your frustrations and perception that nothing is being done to address the quality of the community. we can assure you we are contacting those who are not in compliance with the community governing documents, as well as in contact with vendors about the issues in the common areas (i.e., pool, pond, etc.). we are also sorry if you feel the meeting was not run well and are open to feedback from all residents at any time, not just at meetings. one of our team members will be reaching out to you to discuss your concerns in hopes of addressing your issues in a positive manner. read more

I had several issues when living in a neighborhood handled by them. I sent in a request to add concrete to the front driveway of my home, they never bothered to respond. I called three times to check the status on the third call the girl at the desk told me after 30 days of no response I can just do whatever I wanted. Following this I got a letter saying my dues were past due (which they weren't), they did this to my neighbor as well. They are more worried about the trash cans than anything else. The house behind me had grass knee high as well as weeds that literally touched the street sign, they had cars that sat for weeks on blocks. This happened all the time. $350 a year this should not be a problem. When I went to sell my home I was appalled that I had to order a $100 piece of paper for the seller to state my account was up to date and there were no leans against my property. I would NEVER recommend living in a place that is handled by this company. WASTE OF MONEY. read more

What a joke Community Management is. I received a nasty collection letter, for a balance Ive paid already. So I call there office where I`m put on hold, 3 times. When I finally speak to some one, they state " I dont know why they sent this to you" and cant help me, and referes me to their finance dept. And of course they are to busy to speak to me about their mistake. So I have to call back, and waste my time for their mistake. What a joke. read more

Rating one star because "garbage" isn't an option. I know I went a couple weeks without cutting my grass but I did get it cut. I took pictures with date and time stamps. They send back the original blurry picture saying it still isn't cut and then charge me. Now I've been charged three times for something I fixed before I ever even got the first notice. Then they claimed that my bricks were never approved by a certain date when I had the e-mails to prove that they were a week before that notice was mailed. These people DO NOT do their jobs. They are slow to respond if they do at all. They are now even charging everyone in the neighborhood an extra $120 for annual dues when they were already ridiculously high compared to surrounding neighborhoods. They justify it with horrible lawn care and bills they don't even pay on time. This is the worst HOA company out there. read more

For two years I have been reaching out to them to fix the fence in our back yard which is part of the HOA responsibility. Hurricane Barry caused it shift and being that it is on ditch it made it very dangerous for when I cut grass. I was told someone would come look at it. Fast forward to last year in October, Hurricane Delta caused it to fall over. Our rep for our subdivision stated bids had been sent out. Then on Jan. 26, she stated construction should begin soon. I have had 3 separate occasions since then of individuals coming through where the fence is down " about 130 or so ft" and stealing from my backyard. I emailed her again over a week ago and still have not received a response. These people were not worth the money we have to pay for them as they use it all on horrible lawn service and on top of that they increased by $100 for this year. To say I am disgusted is an understatement. I had heard from other subdivisions they were bad and as soon as they we able to get rid of them they did. I cannot wait for phase 2 to be completed so we can manage our neighborhood ourselves. read more

Following the HOA meeting I had several questions and sent a detailed e-mail on 3/23/17 I received a generic reply that someone would get back with me. I sent two follow up emails (4/25/17 & 5/1/17) with the same generic reply and no answers to my questions. Two calls with voicemails on 5/1/17 & 4/25/17, without a return call. My questions pertained to financials. In January there was a gate maintenance charge of $2,075. I asked to see a work order. Our community gate seems to malfunction a lot and is causing the community to be over budget in that area. Additionally theres a electric bill around $1,150 per month the HOA pays. The community has no amenities. It is still being developed and after speaking with the developer, they state they pay the electric on all new home sites as well as their office up front. I believe the street lights are the city's responsibility but I'm unsure since I can't get a answer from Community Management. $18,900 was paid by HOA last year in utilities for a community thats only "amenity" is an unreliable gate. $3,086.88 was spent on gate maintenance in 2016 and we are already at $2.950 for gate/general maintenance in 2017. I don't think its unreasonable to see work orders and give the community a better understanding of where money is spent. Considering they received $26,950.00 to manage Cypress Bend in 2016, returning an email/call shouldn't be this difficult. read more
