My car got towed for expired reg and I had a hell of a day. It was my every-other-year required smog check year, and I had to get smog-tested before 5pm that night or risk my car getting towed again. I called around 4pm asking if they could fit me in, and the awesome worker on duty (so sorry to forget your name!), said, "Come by at 4:30 as I'm working on someone else's car." I told him I was in the parking lot and why I was there, so urgently, and he got BOTH cars done before 4:40p, which left me time to jet to AAA up the curve to get my tags. Absolute lifesaver! He always gets the smog done quickly and if there are any issues he tells you what's wrong and recommends how to get the issue fixed. My wife and I have used Community Smog for years, and have always been happy with the speed and quality of service, but now I've got a new factor that I like - a lot. I recently went to them to get my car smog cert. The tech on duty was new to me, and was a little abrupt. Not unfriendly, just a little short. No big deal. I did a check-in with Yelp to take advantage of the $10 off coupon deal, which was very cool. When I got home, I checked my receipt and saw that I had been charged full price. Nuts.... Not great, but not worth losing sleep over. That afternoon, I got a call from the manager, saying he'd been going over the paperwork for the day and saw I'd not gotten my discount. He apologized and asked me to stop back by and he would refund me the discount in cash! Frankly, I was floored. What a great guy! Star Smog Check was required by DMV. I called and told no appointment necessary. I went the next morning and given service right away. The inspector was very friendly and courteous. The inspection took about 15 minutes. I told the inspector that I was referred to his business by Yelp, and they had a coupon I could apply to the costs.
