Monthly management fees exceeded 1.5% of our total portfolio (as determined by our CPA), but those are not the only fees charged. Fees for paper statements, maintenance fees, and termination fees of $100/account, in my mind, are excessive. In addition, this firm (AFS) does not honor the requests of the clients. (In my case, I was going to be charged $75 to make an OTC purchase of a penny stock which Mr Albritton decided was not in my best interest. The next day the stock doubled in price.) In addition,Mr. Albritton is not FNRA certified (which I found out after transferring our accounts.) As a result, my husband and I have terminated our accounts and our dealings with AFS and Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. Expectations of a smooth transfer of our assets was not to be, however. After a month of attempting to transfer our assets, we are still waiting for all of our funds to transfer. This firm was recommended by our trust lawyer as being "easy to deal with." Not the case in our situation. I would not recommend Albritton Financial Services or Cambridge Research, Inc to my worst enemy. If you choose to do so, "caveat emptor", BUYER BEWARE! When I was checking on it, it was listed as an annuity. They were then called and asked about the acct and they stated that it was a Roth IRA acct. When moving to another financial advisor (the one I have currently), they stated that what I had was, in fact, an annuity which requires higher fees. So basically, I had to pay a $200 surrender fee to turn it into a Roth and I am now actually earning more money.
