Please read!! GREATEST BODY MAGICIAN EVER! As I've now dubbed Dr. Chris, who has a profound knowledge of the human body, various diseases and Injuries from head to toe. I'm not someone to endorse or take this lightly, as I am disabled with a spinal injury and have seen 22 doctors and 12 physical therapists in the last 8 years... I've been dealing with an unidentifiable spine disease for far too long and was ready to "GIVE UP LIVING ENTIRELY"... but, two days later I was asked by a to come with a friend. I did so, still skeptically until I watched Dr. Chris do their session. After seeing how detailed and instrumentally tactical Dr. Chris and team were, I was very impressed and figured I had nothing to lose so why not? So I decided to try a few sessions and if nothing helped like most, I'd give up for good. I have never told anyone this story, but they saved my life. I can actually breath again when I could barely speak without pain, I'm walking almost entirely without a cane most days. We're chipping away at something over 2 dozen doctors/ rheumatologists/ etc, could not and can still not figure out... His assistants; (Especially Nina) are amazing, friendly, welcoming and actually care about helping people!! Which is rare to find... I didn't have good experience with this business. I made an appointment to see them for the first time. I got a text reminding me of the appointment. Next, I got an email to complete 2 forms but unable to complete the form due to a software defect (When trying to add your name, the keyboard only offers numbers and thus can't make progress). Next day more reminder text about the appointment. On their site it says don't come in but text us first so we can clean a room and get ready. I arrived 20 minutes before my appointment. I've been to over 50 chiropractic sessions in the past among various facilities and I can confidently say that Dr. Chris and Dr. Troy are not your typical chiropractor. Prior chiropractic sessions that I've had would mainly consist of ice/heat, STIM, and an adjustment. Yes, those sessions were effective, but the relief did not last long before I was back. I appreciate that Dr. Chris and Dr. Troy take the time to understand and improve each patient's biomechanics before going in with an adjustment. They also provide and demonstrate exercises and stretches to do at home. Past chiropractors would just give me a generic printout of stretches and exercises. With their unique approach, I've noticed greater and more retainable improvement! I've noticed improvement in my posture and overall feel more balanced. Dr. Chris is amazing!! I was a professional dancer whose career ended due to what the doctors thought was a back injury in 2006. I spent over a year at physical therapy and at numerous doctor appointments for them to never really give me a solid diagnosis. No matter what these other professionals did, my pain would always come back. Fast forward 11 years. I now live in California and I'm a ballet and modern dance teacher. The same pain I had that ended my career starts to flair back up with a vengeance. I call Complete Performance and get an appointment the next day. I tell Dr. Chris my history and he examines me. I wasn't really expecting him to tell me anything different than the other doctors had. To study my situation further, he asked me to come in the next day. After reviewing how my body responded to his test, he tells me that I do not have a back injury but a groin muscle injury! I was shocked for a second but remembered that I had torn my inner thigh muscle back in 2000. To test it out, he released some of the tightness in that muscle and ALL OF MY PAIN WENT AWAY!! I couldn't believe it. Of all of the doctors I have seen throughout the years, not one looked past the surface pain to actually find the root cause of it all. I feel fortunate to have found this place, albeit I wish I found it years ago! I came in at the beginning of the year barely able to put my shoes on due to back pain, and in a matter of weeks Dr.s Chris and Troy had me back to skiing, surfing, and mountain biking. A lot of their recommendations and tips are up to the patient to put to work - stretches, exercises, etc., but following their direction and getting their hands-on treatment paid off for me. I've since taken my 15 year-old in for shin splints, and he is making good progress as well. I know where to go now when I have physical limitations or pain. I'd rate Doc Chris 10 STARS! I've known Doctor Chris for years and He's a miracle worker. He's the Doc with Magic Hands. When I was a gymnast at around age 11 Doc Chris came to our Gym and adjusted all my teammates including me. I wasn't your normal flexible gymnast... so Doctor Chris helped me in many ways... 1st to loosen up my muscles... I was always a overly tight gymnast... my hip flexors and forearms were ridiculously tight so he helped me with that. 2nd I'd sprain my ankles on a constant and Doc helped with my ankles... he got rid of the inflammation, taped them and gave me excercises to strengthen it. 3rd I had a situation with my elbow that never came up till later in my gymnastics career... I found out that my elbow wouldn't straighten all the way and I couldn't touch my shoulder like my other arm... I was told by the Docs that it was an old fracture that didn't heal correctly... I went to Dr. CHRIS to see if he could do something about it so I wouldn't have to go in for surgery and sure enough he worked on me... so he tried different stretches and in time I was Brand New... no need for surgery and I was a happy gymnast. Without Dr. Chris' help I would have done everything I could do after being a National Champion Gymnast and a Break Dancer... a National Champion COLLEGIATE Tumbler for Ventura College Cheer. Thanks Doc! You are Amazing! And after so many years your more knowledgeable and more experienced and now you do so many more amazing thing for your patients. I can't believe anybody hasn't reviewed Chris. I'd been to a few GP type docs, two chiropractors and an orthopedic surgeon for the referred pain in my back from the bone-on-bone in my cervical vertebrae. Yeah, disk is history. The first Chiro was a wacky lady who didn't do anything. The second was a nice guy in TO who helped me some. The Ortho did a nice job with the pills and PT, which taught me neck retractions so that I could keep from having a big episode in the future. But Chris. Chris... this guy so knows what he's doing. He uses techniques to "work" the area so that you actually IMPROVE! Woo-hoo! Also, I don't know about you, but I've noticed that, with treatments from the other guys, I'd leave the office feeling a little worse, then feel better the next day... maybe. But with Chris, I feel better right away. And I stay better. He has a gym and a massage therapist. He'll put you in that gym and make you stretch or strengthen with one of the trainers. His massage therapist will beat you up... ahem... massage you to his specifications. Aaah, she's tiny but it hurts so good. Chris really wants you to improve, not become addicted to "adjustments". His specialty is more what I would call "sport's performance medicine", but don't let that scare you away. Yeah, there are radical athletes wandering in and out of his office and working out in his gym, but if you're just a regular person in pain, just go there. You won't be sorry. I met Chris on the volleyball court years ago and finally went to him for my neck / back, about a year ago. I used to not have any feeling in the skin below my shoulder blade. I thought that was just how it would be. Now I can feel it after YEARS of complete numbness. But he's also fixed my elbow, and, coming to think of it, the tinnitus (ear ringing) is now gone. I'll have to tell him that LOL. He's fixed my friend's lower back, my step daughter's mid back, my son's knee, and a myriad of other painful situations. I came to Dr Chris Alvarez on Jan 15th 2016 - I was "broken" and walking sideways. I had thrown out my lower back by just turning the wrong way. This of course was not the first time that this had happened and I have become very familiar with chiropractic and osteopathic help over the years - going back to my first session at 14 years old in England. Please note that I have never felt the need to write a review - but this time it's different. So - within ONE WEEK (3 appts.) Dr Chris had me walking upright and almost pain free - a personal record for me - as it usually takes at least three weeks to get anywhere near normal. Dr Chris is a miracle worker and is a no nonsense, no drama and no holding you hostage to a million sessions kinda guy - he just wants to fix you. He showed me how to stretch and of course insisted on frequent ice seasons - each time I went he listened to my progress and gave me further exercises to do to aid my recovery. I should mention that nearing the end of my first week with Dr Chris he mentioned a meal supplement shake - he said it would help to heal my insides (I must admit that my diet at that point had taken a dump). Curious of course I tried it and lost 7lbs in little over a week (substituting both breakfast and lunch with a shake) The shake's taste like ice-cream with no after taste. I feel healthier and continue to lose weight and I LOVE IT! So - diet in order and lower back fixed we get down to the nitty gritty. Why does my neck feel like it's permanently got a crick in it and I have little to no mobility turning to my right?? (a nightmare when pulling off a freeway let me tell you). THE ANSWER - I have TMJ (look it up) - something which I had never heard of but apparently it derives from stress (clenching my jaw bone) and bad posture. Well, it just so happens that Dr Chris is a wizard with TMJ - something that my work buddy has lived with all her life because she was told there was no cure. It is Thanksgiving Day 2016 today and I am grateful to Chris Alvarez for healing my foot! Last year after Christmas I was walking my dog and felt a pinch in the ball of my foot. The pain grew worse to the point I couldn't walk bare foot and in regular shoes without extreme pain. Little did I know on that walk, that the following 9 months would be filled with visits to numerous different health care providers looking for an answer. What was worse, other parts of my body started having problems....my knee started clicking, my hips hurt and my back would pop sharply at random times, often when just standing still. No one could determine the cause of the pain or devise a treatment plan. I visited my primary care physician, a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, two podiatrists, a rheumatologist, a foot and ankle specialist and a foot surgeon before I found Chris. I had numerous X-rays, an MRI, splints, a cortisone injection, taped and padded my foot, wore a boot for 12 weeks and even had to replace all of my shoes with expensive specialty support models for wide feet in to get out of the boot. After all of that, not only did my pain continue, but the best I guess from just one the HCPs was that I may have a planter plate and needed surgery. In frustration I returned to my Primary Care Physician who referred me to Chris and that is when everything changed. He didn't need an X-ray, or an MRI....he had me walk and looked at my biomechanics. Most importantly, he had a plan that he implemented on that very first visit and which resulted in immediate improvement. The treatments that followed were custom and varied according to my progress. Sometimes this included one or more of the following: icing, taping, stretches, muscle stimulation, Grastin, and/or adjustments to my foot or to my back. The treatments were 2X/week, along with a very few easy things to do at home (which sometimes I forgot to do). The knee popping resolved, the back and hip pain resolved and this month I have actually started running again! Chris figured out that it was my heel that locked from an overtight calf that then forced the weight of my body into the wrong part of my foot, which caused my arch to collapse and my bones to jam and inflame. The pain caused my gate to shift which is why my knee, hips and back were affected. If my foot flares up, I now know what to do because Chris taught me what to do to manage my condition. :-) Since the amazing results I've had, I sent my husband to Chris for treatment. He was in a car accident and could not turn his head for months. Chris has made similar immediate improvements for him. I have sent my son to Chris, who in a couple of adjustments corrected his posture. I would send ANYONE to Chris and if you are the fence, GO NOW! His functional-medicine-bionic-super-healer-vision will reveal the source of the pain you are in and you WILL get resolution! Dr Alvarez is my new hero. I am an LA based Acrobat. I have been training acrobatics for a few years now with a background in competitive gymnastics. I have been having an issue for the last 8 months with my thumb. I had basically given up all hope until i saw Dr Alvarez. My thumb(wrist) had left me unable to even do a single push-up and i was looking for a new Dr to help be and hopefully heal me. I was given Dr Alvarez's information and called right away. He came in EARLY just to see me- which in my experience is unheard of. He went out of his way just to help me, which in my eyes is enough for 5 stars. I saw him bright and early the morning (i was set to leave for an Acro event). He saw me and did typical therapy. Icing and some muscle stem. He asked a ton of questions and told me that he was going to tape my wrist so i could make it through my weekend. I was skeptical.... i was a gymnast and i have taped nearly every part of my body, how was this supposed to last through a 3-day Acrobatics event? Well... it did. He used 3 different kinds of tape to create folds which helped to support my thumb and wrist. I have never been so impressed. I was even able to Handstand :) FINALLY! After my return i saw Dr Chris two-three time a week. We worked on my wrist regularly for about 5 weeks. He fixed the issue and gave me special things to do to strengthen my wrists so that something like this wouldn't happen again! After 4 months being almost bedridden with severe knee pain and dealing with Orthopaedists who did not help one bit, a friend referred me to the genius that is Dr. Chris. Dr. Chris is remarkable. First met him when I hurt my knee. Doctors told me that it was my age and arthritis but I didn't believe it. I have worked out for years and never had an issue. The doctors took x-rays and sent me for physical therapy but none of that worked. After seeing Dr. Chris for a short period the pain was gone and back to normal for years now. My son was in club soccer and he and many of his team mates also saw Dr. Chris and worked out with Ryan. He always seems to help you recover and teaches you how to perform exercises to help your recovery. Recently my daughter hurt herself dancing and once again Dr. Chris to the rescue. Dr Chris put my shoulder back together again. I had sever shoulder pain after years of bad posture in my yoga and training practices- also from carrying a heavy purse! I had been to accupuncture, and orthopedist, massage therapy and physical therapy with little improvement. A Pilates teacher of mine - Romina who is also amazing- recommended DR. Chris and his wholistic approach helped me get better!! He is able to look at my movements and hear my story and really get to the root of the problem/ injury and approach it with a string acumen of how the body works.
