We signed a contract with Graves to remodel our kitchen and both upstairs bathrooms. We were told…read more(AFTER we signed) that it would take 4-6 weeks for the cabinets to be ready, so this delayed our project until around the holidays. They were gracious enough, however, to replace our stove (which we needed for Thanksgiving) and fixed/patched a hole in the ceiling in advance of the project. So, that was nice. The problem, though, was that 4-6 weeks turned into FIVE MONTHS. We signed in October, and the project didn't start until March. I think in today's pandemic world, that would have been a lot more understandable given supply chain issues, but we were told this was a personnel issue on the contractor's side. Okay, whatever, we rolled with it. We lived with the old rooms for several years... what was a few more months? The remodeling went well, but instead of 6 weeks, it lasted 8 weeks. Again, not really our biggest gripe. We understand timing and how projects can get wonky sometimes. But, the problem here was, there was no communication from their side as to what the delays were and when we could expect work to resume. In fact, every update we received, it was after WE called THEM. We never received a proactive call from the company. Until... my first Yelp review. It was basically the same as above, with some errant backstory from another vendor that got confused into the mix. Then, we had a call immediately from the owner, within 24 hours of posting the review. So, why did our project manager use this same proactive outreach when working on our project? Why did it take a negative review to stir action? To their defense, half of the issues we pointed out (missing cabinet posts, leak from the commode, stain in the kitchen ceiling from leak/water damage, loose fixture in the bathroom). The other half (repainting the ceiling, loose bathroom faucet fixtures, loose commode not properly in place, dishwasher not attached to the counter and pulling on the paneling) were never addressed. Fast forward to today, and we have a leak (again) in the same commode because there is an unsecured PVC ring that was used to raise said commode for apparently no discernable reason. This has lead to a gradual leak that caused yet another hold in our ceiling, not to mention the cost of having the leak identified and resolved by an outside contractor. At this point, I'm not going to be pressured to recant my review. These are the facts and potential customers should be made aware of our experience. Each of the three remodeled rooms has lingering issues, some more severe than others. Aesthetically, the work was very well done, and we do enjoy the functional and well-working aspects. The parts that need addressing, however, have already cost us additional and unnecessary funds to rectify. This has been an overall unsatisfactory experience.

It's an old house, with a tight space, and an endless amount of obstacles to overcome in order to pull it off. We interviewed about 6 contractors and collected a number of quotes. A few contractors were not up to the task, while a few came back with either extraordinarily high or absurdly low quotes- and all of them had wonky solutions that seemed impractical. Then came Dominic. Dominic came in with a creative mind. His experience and expertise allowed him to problem solve and come up with a fantastic solution that met all of our needs, and more wants that we could've hoped for. Even more, his quote made sense. He wasn't the cheapest, or the most expensive, but he was fair. Due to a medical issue, there was a massive delay on our end getting started, yet Dominic remained flexible. Once we were finally underway, I was floored at how quickly he and his team worked. They showed up every day, on time, and worked precisely and efficiently. We were dreading having people in our home for several weeks, but his team was lovely to have around! They were polite, kind, helpful, and most importantly, skilled. I was working on several side projects (painting, refinishing cabinets, etc) and they always jumped in to help if they saw me struggling to carry something or lift something heavy. Every day they left the space cleaner than they found it. Not only are they skilled, it is clear they have an incredible work ethic and are just kind people. During the project, we wanted to change the scope a few times by adding in some flooring and a few other things that shifted the project a bit. Once again, Dominic remained flexible. He was there to offer advice- both in helping us stay within budget, while not compromising quality. And despite expanding the scope mid-project, he and his team only needed a few additional days to complete those requests. I've never hired a contractor for this scale of project before and I've heard all of the nightmares about poor quality work, lack of communication, surprise project fees, and delays in completion. We experience none of that with Top Notch Contractors. Dominic and his team delivered everything they promised and more. There were no billing surprises at the end of the project and even though we were satisfied with everything, he and his team were still touching up little things as they were walking out of the door. If you're looking for the Goldilocks of contractors- one who is skilled, fairly priced, and delivers on their promises, you can't go wrong with Dominic at Top Notch Contractors. My father now has a safe & beautiful space and we could not be more grateful.

Mr. Purrazello, the father, does not cut corners and is the type of contractor to show the job, explain what you want, listen closely to what he says, agree on the work scope, award the job, then walk away. He's going to deliver a five-star product, and more importantly with concrete, will likely stand the test of time; and, he won't cut corners. These characteristics of integrity, professionalism, knowledge of the industry, dependability, and honoring one's word is rare today. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you look at it, this firm is unlikely to be a low bid. But, as I discovered from working with them just one time, it's a company you can trust. That's old-fashioned. Not cutting corners, again old-fashioned. My experience is that these traits of high quality and fulfilling one's commitment are unusual in today's residential construction marketplace. I was astute enough in talking with the father to recognize he was a true, professional Craftsman and to trust his decisions. Now I am left with a backyard patio, in which everyone who sees it says, it's absolutely beautiful! It came out much nicer than I expected and originally called for; and, I am appreciative for it. Going into the project, I simply wanted a basic slab-on-grade patio with a few engineered features that was low cost. What was delivered was a beautiful, constructed better-than-originally-designed, backyard patio. My advice on this contractor to the General Public is: if this firm gives you a price and they are close to your budget, hire them immediately and look no further. Additionally, if you don't want to roll the dice and play games with most residential concrete contractors, simply agree on a work scope and price with this firm then sole source award the job to them. They won't let you down. Why? Because these characteristics of high quality and integrity are very unusual amongst residential contractors, in my experience and opinion. In closing, I must mention that unless the son Joey bid the work as was done in my case, it was likely the only way Purrazello could have won the work. The father and the sons (Joey & Matt) are tremendous craftsmen and I wish them all the best going forward. Again, thank you Purrazello & Sons for a most excellent job! Take care.
