This review is solely for Dr. Madhuri Bewtra. Six years ago, she induced me without my informed consent. It was my first pregnancy, no complications, I was in active labor and progressing normally. She said she was going to induce me to "move things along." She didn't explain the side effects of early induction, nor did she give me a choice. This being my first pregnancy and being naive about the process of labor and delivery, I thought induction was normal and part of the process so I didn't question it. It wasn't until later I found out that she wanted to "move things along" because she was going off shift but coming back several hours later. I suspect she didn't want to deal with delivery if she didn't have to. Dr. Patrusky, who came on shift shortly after, delivered my baby. In retrospect, Dr. Bewtra's actions to induce me when I was progressing well in my labor naturally is absolutely atrocious. In my opinion, all the 5- star ratings she has on other MD websites are probably written by herself. In my experience, she is not a doctor of integrity and transparency which is probably why she had the most availability out of all the doctors in this practice. Avoid at all cost. read more

Comprehensive Women's Care - Obstetricians & Gynecologists Near Me - Englewood, New Jersey

I came here based on all the good reviews knowing the doctors here were associated with Englewood Hospital. Unfortunately I had a very impersonal and bad visit. From the minute I walked in, I thought the receptionist was cold and unfriendly. Even the medical assistant who walked me back and did my blood pressure was cold. They seemed overworked and careless. I had Dr. Zachary Merriam. And I was there for my first prenatal visit. From the minute that I found out I was pregnant, I looked forward to this visit, only to walked away feeling not good about the whole thing. The first thing Dr. Merriam said to me when he walked in the door was "do you not remember when your last PAP was?". He went on interrogating me with the exact date and the location of my last pap and seemed angry that I did not remember although I was sure it was within a year. He did not smile, no "congratulations on your pregnancy!" and never introduced himself. He then did a full exam on me, breast and internal exam with a annoyed face on. And again this was my first prenatal visit. A smile and a little bit compassion and warmth would have gone a long way. And mind you, I had to get completely naked in front of him for the exam and it was the first time meeting him. It was very very uncomfortable. The only person that was warm and sweet in the office was the lady who drew my blood. She was a Christian lady who had darker skin. I wished I remember her name. She was the sweetest. The office on top also looked very very old and outdated and their bedside ultrasound machine was ancient. I don't doubt other doctors in the office are probably better than Dr Merriam or perhaps he had a very bad day in the office. Whatever the reason was, the thought of ever having to see Dr. Merriam again made me cringed and I decided to transfer all my prenatal care to another OB office after this visit and was SO glad that I did. read more

My first pregnancy, this practice, I was in labor at Englewood hospital, the doctor told me I could start pushing if I wanted to (!) or wait for my regular doctor (this same practice) to push. I said I wanted to push, but he didn't care--and walked right out on me--with the nurse!--only after the nurse turned off my epidural. 20 minutes of pure pain, asking for them to help me--but the doctor did not come back in, he preferred to wait outside my room for my regular doctor to drive to the hospital from this office! The regular doctor walked in and went, "ok, start pushing." I complained to Englewood hospital and they responded with a letter back that the doctor did nothing wrong. I've changed doctors/practice/and hospital --thank G-d! read more

I hate to have to leave a negative review but I think its important when it comes to doctors and medical practices that people have access to real reviews. 1) I was told my primary care doctor was away and I had to see someone else for my annual. This was FALSE! I saw her with my own eye in the office. 2) The annual checkup was not thurough. I felt like we just ran through standard questions and the doctor didn't even pay attention to my specific comments and concerns 3) it took over 6 months to have a corrected prescription called in... 4) i mentioned i had gained weight recently and i asked if i would be hormonal along with other causes. When I left the room where you see the dr, the doctor was mocking me by the nurses station "if i wanted to loose 10 lbs i would stop eating candy and drinking alcohol" 5) I sought medical advice as to if I should get a certain blood test and her response was essentially, what ever you want to do 6) i think they take too many patients because its near impossible to get timely appointments read more

I wish I hadn't been a Patient here for close to 6 years before switching, but then again it was never a big deal since I only went for my annual Check up. Now that I'm in the process of getting pregnant, I realize what a mess this place is. The waits are atrocious. On average I would wait close to 30-45 min in the waiting room past my appointment time. At the last appointment I had, I waited close to 1 hour in the room in a hospital gown. I personally thought Dr Bewtra often rushed me and expected me to have questions, otherwise I would get minimal explanation to things. I then switched to Dr Patrusky, who I really liked. She was personable and asked me questions about my life etc... Unfortunately when I found out I was pregnant, Dr P. had close to a 2 month waiting period and Dr Bewtra was available. I met with her. Again felt rushed. She advised me to get a D&C for a miscarriage in the office. My sister who is a doctor and others I spoke with, including my new OBGYN, thought doing a D&C in office was not an adviseable or a gold standard practice. I ended up canceling my appointment and getting a referral from a friend to a different clinic (which I LOVE!) (DM me if you want the name). In the meantime it turns out Dr Bewtra never requested blood work with my hcg levels so I didn't have any blood work to compare to fully confirm a miscarriage. I didn't appreciate her bed side manners and judging by the other reviews, I'm not the only one. read more

Difficult Gyn situations are punted to other practices with very little effort given to figuring out how to help you. SCAM******* this place is a joke. The front desk staff are dumber then they look. BEWARE they will send you to collections even if it's their fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The office manager does not know how to speak to people and the billing department have zero knowledge how to handle any type of situation and will hang up on if they know your right. I gave birth to my son 3/1/19. Three weeks later sent a bill to my address I lived at three years ago, then repeatedly told me it was my fault after I gave them my new address 9/10/2018. Lol. Let's just say if I spoke to my patients the way they spoke to me I'd be fired. They don't follow hippa laws so if they ever get audited they will be in trouble! Every January of the new year there suppose to scan in a NEW DEMOGRAPHICS WITH A NEW LICENSE EVEN IF NOTHING CHANGED. They failed to do that. And the front desk failed to take my new info when I started as a new patient. They kept my old address from another doctors office that had the same system. Instead of writing over the TYPED demographic I gave them my license and told them this is my new one. This was back in September 2018. Stay away from here please. They are completely scammers and are super unprofessional I cannot stress that enough. The billing department actually told me to go f*** myself when I told her they did the wrong thing and she hung up. They are totally in the wrong and should have never sent me to collections. Really awful experience here. My second pregnancy has been a little complicated, which should no way impact services provided, and the doctors clearly were not communicating with one another or reading my chart any time they spoke with me. And agreed with other reviewers on the unfriendly and unhelpful receptionists. Wanted to try the practice out since I'm WFH but switched back to my NYC practice for proper care. read more

The staff in this business (not including the doctors) are unbelievably rude. The woman at the front desk, in particular, is horrible with customer service, constantly talking back to and raising her voice at patients in the waiting room, over paperwork and appointments. She even yelled at an elderly woman over using the office phone, insulting her over the fact that she didn't have a cell phone to make calls... Before even coming in to the office, when I had called to make an appointment, it took 3 calls just to set an appointment and make sure they took my insurance. Because they are so impatient, they tend to hang up before you can get all of the information you need, and you have to call back several times, and expect to be left on hold for several minutes. The receptionist on the phone even snapped at me for calling back, saying she definitely takes my insurance, when she didn't even have all of the information needed to make that decision. The actual doctor did his job. Nothing remarkable. -- Although, when I asked questions, his answers were condescending, as if I should just know everything about gynecology. read more

This place hires the worst staff ever! They are very rude and mean. I was given a pill in a urine collecting cup! What's more, they would joke about your condition in the hallway. The wait time is about 20-40 minutes long. The worst thing is you can clearly hear them texting, chatting outside of your room. People, you are working in a clinic, please be more sensitive! Some patients there may not having the best moment in their life. Please show some care, if not, at least some respect. read more

I personally stopped going to this practice YEARS ago, when I was in need of a relatively urgent appointment, and was told they had no available appointments for 3 months (and per every other review here - the secretaries are HORRIFIC human beings)!! I ultimately went to a completely different dr, and ended up with an irregular pap, and needed surgery!! That whole process (including the surgery) happened before I would have even been able to have my first appointment with this practice - THANK GOD I DIDN'T WAIT!!!! THEN my friend who goes to the same practice had a major issue with Dr. Friedman insisting it was OK to leave her IUD in more than 10 years. For multiple years she was complaining of hemorrhaging during her period. Ultimately she saw one of the female Dr's (2nd appointment though, the first one the secretaries told her she wasn't in the calendar even though she had made the appointment like a month before with the SAME secretary!). The Dr realized her IUD had been in for THIRTEEN years and then had to literally rip it out of her, because it was becoming implanted in her uterus. This was why her period had been ridiculously heavy as well. And then today was the final straw, and what is making me write this review - I heard of a friend of a friend, who also went here, and despite having irregular Paps for YEARS, Dr. Friedman refused to do a biopsy (or colposcopy)! Now she has cervical cancer. Run away from this practice as fast and as far as you can!! read more

I can only say wonderful things about this practice! I've been a patient here for quite a few years before getting pregnant & all the drs I saw while pregnant were caring & thorough. Dr Patrusky delivered my son & she was EXCELLENT! This was In 2019. Fast forward to last week, and I had to unfortunately have a D & C for a miscarriage that occurred last week. Dr. Zachary Merriam was FANTASTIC! I can not say enough good things- he was compassionate, thorough & explained EVERYTHING in detail before he even started. Really wanted me to feel comfortable. I saw him often while I was pregnant with my son as well, including when I was in labor. But going through a tough procedure like I did last week, truly made me see how caring he is. I think ppl who left bad reviews about him, just didn't appreciate how thorough he is. He even called to check up on me today to see how I was feeling! It's the little things like that- especially during something so difficult to go through, that make me appreciate & see what a good dr he truly is. The nurses are fantastic as well! Amira has gone above & beyond to ensure I am always comfortable & well taken care of!! So I HIGHLY recommend this practice, in particularly Dr Merriam!!! read more

I was not getting my periods for one year, and every time I came to Dr. Merriam for an explanation, he would simply say "it's because you're 18 years old". Not even in the ultrasounds he pointed out anything. After a year of missed periods and nothing from Dr. Merriam after numerous frequent appointments, I decided to see a different gynecologist in Manhattan. This new gynecologist immediately told me during an ultrasound that I had cysts in my ovaries! She spotted cysts in my ovaries during a 2 minute ultrasound and immediately diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome! Dr. Merriam and the nurses of Comprehensive Women's Care failed to pay attention to the cysts in my ultrasound and did not diagnose me all the time that I was coming to Comprehensive Womens Care! The gynecologists and staff at Comprehensive Women's Care are completely unknowledgeable. They are nice human beings, but they aren't good at their jobs! Find a different gynecologist, you won't regret it. I wish I had switched sooner. Also, every time that I've come to Comprehensive Women's Care, I have always waited at least an hour in the lobby! I don't have any complaints about this office. Dr. Friedman is the best OBGYN I've had. He takes his time to answer any and all questions, always without judgement. He'll thoroughly educate you and he doesn't rush you out of the office. He does this while managing to stay relatively on schedule. I mean it's a doctor's office, you're going to wait for your appointment a bit. On average I wait about 20 minutes. The office waiting area is a bit outdated but the exam rooms are clean. The nurses are helpful and I've never had a bad experience there. The parking lot can be a pain. It fills quickly and the spots are so narrow...if that's my only complaint that's pretty good. read more

I have been going to Dr. Friedman for 30 years. The care I have received can't be compared to any other doctor. I like having an intelligent, compassionate, caring doctor. Dr. Friedman has treated or seen me for multiple pregnancies, multiple miscarriages, hot flashing, cancer, and bone density and I couldn't ask for a more caring doctor and better nurse manager, Teri Rodriguez. I have had plenty of other experiences with other doctors and still do who can't light a candle to these two individuals. read more

I read the yelp reviews just before going and thought about cancelling, but really needed to see the Doctor. The reviews here do NOT lie. This place is horrible. I called today as a new patient and was told to come in at noon and if I fill out the paperwork online, I do not need to come in earlier. Well, I did bring in the signed paperwork and arrived at 11:45, just to be on the safe side. I still waited OVER an hour and a half to see Dr. Merriam for less than five minutes. I kid you not, he barely even looked at my results, did no real exam, and just wrote me a prescription and sent me on my way. When I expressed my concerns and told him I think it's something more, he said if the pain gets worse just go to the ER. How does a Physician tell a patient to go to the ER as an immediate answer without any real exam or asking any questions? I felt like I was bothering him by bringing up my concerns. I even expressed that the medication he is giving me has not worked before and he pretty much could care less. I have never encountered a Physician with ZERO bedside manners. You probably shouldn't be an OB if you don't care about your patient's wellbeing. After my visit I asked to speak with the office manager because I was very upset. As I started explaining what just happened the tears started streaming down my face because I was so upset with the whole visit. She did calm me down and asked if there was anything else she could do, which at that point I just wanted to leave and NEVER return. I hope someone at the office reads these messages and really takes action. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. They clearly don't value your time or your issues!! read more

TERRIBLE experience. I started to go to this practice since I got pregnant. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. Three weeks ago I started to get rash all over my back. I called this office on 11/21 and doctor in the office told to take either Benedryl or Zyrtec. I did take Benedryl but rash started to spread over to my face and other parts of the body. I called again. Then doctor in the office on 11/26 morning said to go see dermatologist or primary doctor. I did see the dermatologist as well as allergy specialist. I was told I have AEP (atopic eruption of pregnancy). I got steroid and non-steroid creams and antihistamine but nothing worked. On Saturday 12/1, my skin around eyes started to swell up. I ended up going to Hackensack ER. The ER doctor told me my rash is due to pregnancy hormones and it ended up spreading to my eye areas too. He said only thing that will work is oral steroids called prednisone. He prescribed for 3 weeks. When I was being discharged, I was told to see my Obgyn on Monday. So I called this office on Monday morning 12/3 and explained what happened and said I was told to see a doctor at Obgyn. I also told the receptionist that other doctors found it odd that no one at this Obgyn saw my condition. The receptionist claimed that last time when I called the doctor did not believe this was due to pregnancy so he told me to go see dermatologist. Well, he never even saw my rash. How do you determine this without seeing your patient? So after she talked to the doctor she said the DOCTOR SAID IT IS UNNECESSARY FOR ME TO COME IN AND JUST TAKE THE STEROIDS!!! How do you neglect your pregnant patient? How do you not meet the patient and explain how the prescribed medication can impact the patient and the baby? If this is safe or what? He didn't even ask the dosage ER doctor prescribed. HORRIBLE PRACTICE. I asked my medical records to be sent to another Obgyn right away. A lady called me from this practice and asked if I was leaving and reason why. She said she will tell the management. So I told her but who knows if anything will change there? I asked my friends who work in medical fields. No one could understand how the doctor refused to see a pregnant patient who went to ER and was told to see the doctor. TERRIBLE place. read more

Please RECONSIDER...I have been loyal to them for many years, and despite all of the awful visits, including waiting for HOURS at a time, I always gave them the benifit of the doubt. But ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. At my last visit, I waited 2 hours with my mother just to have a one minute conversation telling me there was nothing she could do until I got an ultra sound. She told me that I was not to be charged for this visit as nothing was done. 4 months later, to my surprise over 200 dollars was withdrawn from my personal account with out my permission. Also, resulting in over draft charges. I have had 2 overian cyst surgerys. The one I had with Women's Comprehensive Care resulted with a bleeding infection. In 2013, I had a miscarriage and needed a d&c. During my visit, I was informed of the size of my very large fibroid, which I was aware of. So I had the procedure, awake the whole time, everything seemed to be fine. That is until I started getting extremely high fevers for the next few days despite taking the precautionary antibiotic that Dr. Buhtra had prescribed. I called her several times to let her know and she chalked it up to the fact that it was routine and it was prob bc my fibroid was shrinking. I'm talking 103 and 104 fever for 3 weeks. I went back several times and all she did was give me another antibiotic. Finally, after 3 weeks of having to change my clothes and sheets from sweating out fevers on a daily basis I decided to go to Englewood hospital ER. They told me I had a severe infection somewhere in my body and admitted me right away. I was started on an IV antibiotic and the doctors at Englewood hospital paged the group at comprehensive. I sat in a hospital for 5 days, was put on 2 different antibiotics and not one Dr. From comprehensive came to check on me. The infectious disease doctors seemed perplexed, my fevers were not stopping. They ordered a cat scan and told me that they needed to rule out a malignancy. They're telling me, I may have cancer, not something a 32 year old woman who had just lost her mother to cancer, wanted to hear. That was a very tough day for me. The next day Dr. Bank from comprehensive (I can't say enough about how caring and wonderful her bedside manner is and I do believe she saved my life despite that her colleague almost killed me). There was no cancer. Apparently Dr. Buhtra had accidentally cut my fibroid during the d&c and I had an incredible infection that almost cost me my life. Moments after Dr. Bank came to see me I was told I would need an emergency myomectomy to remove the necrotic fibroid. I asked her why it took them 5 days to come see me. Her response was, "we really dropped the ball here". Two hours later I was in surgery. Surgery went well and I was taken into a private room for the next few days. Dr. Bank came to see me the next day and she told me another day or two I would've been septic and I would be dead. The days following my recovery were awful. I lost so much blood, they had to give me a blood transfusion. I had an allergic reaction to the blood and broke out into hives all over my body. I wound up losing 15 lbs in the 10 days I was in the hospital. People thought I had cancer. I was on antibiotics for a total of almost 3 months. I had to go on temporary disability. This surgery didn't have to happen had I not been cut during the procedure in this office. There was an issue with my insurance and these people had the nerve to sue me for the cost of this surgery that I wouldn't have needed if it weren't for them. I would steer clear of this place. They care more about their money than their patients despite almost killing them. I will have to deal with the complications of this situation for the rest of my life. read more

Karen Patrusky is/was my doctor at CWC..I actually recommend her to many friends, which unfortunately will stop doing unless I hear she's joined another practice! I ALWAYS wait a MINIMUM of 30 minutes in the overcrowded lobby. Seems long wait times are the norm. Why? I have no clue. My time is valuable as is every women's. I won't waste more time mentioning the rude and stressed-out staff (who btw were drinking tea/coffee and walking around the back munching on food seemingly doing not much) Today I arrived 20 minutes EARLY for my appoint thinking that was the trick, and actually waited an additional 45 mins past my actual appointment time, asking politely if there was indeed a problem. After several unsatisfactory answers and still sitting, I was forced to reschedule my appointment for DECEMBER! First available. I'm writing this review because it is honestly long overdue. Although I absolutely LOVED Dr. Jaffe, I made the decision to leave the practice because I could no longer deal with his staff. The people who work at the front desk are the most condescending, rude, unprofessional staff I have ever encountered, let alone in a healthcare practice. When I made the decision to leave Dr. Jaffe, I gave him a call to let him know that although I really enjoyed having him as my doctor, I could no longer deal with his staff, at which point he apologized. I left the practice probably close to two years ago. By the looks of the last review on here, doesn't look like much has changed. I would actually consider going back to Dr. Jaffe if he hired an entirely new staff, but seeing as that doesn't seem very likely, I would probably never step foot in here again. If you're willing to sacrifice good and quality customer service and being treated like a decent human being to see a great doctor, by all means this is the place for you. read more

I am so confused by these terrible reviews. I have been a patient here for 3 years. I have always found that the wait times are never longer then 10-15 minutes- which is FAR better then other gynecologist I have had in the past. I just had my first child in August and they recommend you take appointments with all the doctors. They each have different styles but I found them all to be attentive and informative. I had a few scares throughout my pregnancy and they always took an appointment with me SAME DAY to help put my mind at ease. Going into labor I felt confident and trusted any doctor that was on call. Dr. Schlossberg delivered my daughter without incident. She was honest about the process and had a very calming way about her. She followed up on the days after and always took the time to answer all questions. I felt so good about how everything went that I will continue to go to her as my primary. There are a few no nonsense nurses, but I'm not about bedside manner- I just want things done right. Most are upbeat and friendly and no one has ever been rude to me. The secretary's have always been great to me- friendly and accommodating. I have recommended them to friends and family that's how confident I am in their abilities. read more

The "office manager" was just has useless and unhelpful as the secretaries who answered the phone. The response I got every time was "we are busy", "I am alone here", "I don't know what to tell you"....UNACCEPTABLE..I was there for more then 2 hrs, which is ridiculous if you are going there for OB care.
