My son's laptop died literally the night before his final exam, and of course, his final was on the laptop. We finally deduced that it was the power cord, which had gotten damaged. I drove all over ABQ looking for one (Best Buy, etc.) and none of them had a universal charger cord that fit. I called Computer Corner and Dusty really took the time on the phone to save me time driving, trying to determine if the one they had really would work. Then they set it aside. I got there 15 minutes before closing, and the two gentlemen at the counter were so helpful (and funny)!! They took the time to fit the new charger, make sure it worked and the laptop turned on and was charging... It was overall an extremely pleasant experience, and I felt like they weren't just trying to sell me on something, but create a relationship. I got the chance to visit this place taking a class for work. I attended an Access class with some of the girls at work. The facilities are super clean and they have a nice classroom set up with workstations so you can work along with the instructor. Phil Shortell was our instructor. He was very patient with us and worked very hard to answer our questions and relate the program to our line of work. I was very happy with our class and learned how to use the program to best fit my needs. I noticed on the way out they also offer a bunch of other classes too! I would surely recommend a computer class with them. They are very personable and even give you a workbook that you can take notes in and take home. I've been dealing with Computer Corner for years and when you go in looking to purchase, they ask what YOU want on your computer and don't try to up-sell you with unnecessary items. I have purchased 3 of their Equus computers over the years and all of them run cool, silently, and last forever. Trips to the Service Department are non-existent. An Equus I purchased in 2010, got used for years, and I gave it to my brother who used it for years. After 9+ years of hard use, it started to falter, but believe me, their computers really last because they build them using quality parts and not junk. The people at CC are very friendly and helpful and they put on their own radio show on KKOB, which is filled with good info. I recently ran into a software problem on my Equus Win10 PC and I emailed Carole Petranovich who promptly responded with a cure to try. Please understand when I type this I'm just really frustrated. I do not want to come off as obnoxious customer, that can never be satisfied. I went here because of the good reviews on yelp. I read all I have to do is go in tell them what I need it for and they will find what you need. I went in and told the guy I was looking for a laptop because I was going to school and I haven't had a laptop in i had a budget of around 500 and was told there were 2 refurbished laptops that would last me at least 5 years. I ended up with a laptop with no webcam which is now necessary for school. The only thing I was offered was I can return it minus about 60$ to wipe the hard drive, pay more to get a laptop with a webcam or go on amazon and buy a webcam. I guess what I am saying is he didn't care at all that he sold me a laptop I couldn't use for the only purpose I bought it for. So now I need to buy a 60$ camera to go on my reburished laptop that I found out they are overcharging about 100$ dollars anyway. Honestly it was my fault for making assumptions that this place cares about their customers. I also didn't make sure it had a webcam. I thought that every computer now days has one. My fault again. I guess. I can still take it in and get it diagnosed for free since I am widow and their veterans discount applies to me also. I'm trying to see the best in this situation and convince myself that I just didn't waste 600$ on a laptop they sell at Walmart for $350 but with the webcam. Like the same exact one. Very frustrated!! I took my computer in because it was not starting up - would just turn on & off and never stay on. Of course it wouldn't act up for them in the shop but they managed to sell me $250 worth of upgrades (solid state hard drive, etc.) Got home, booted up my computer maybe twice and the 2nd time it froze - kept turning on & off again just like the first time. Took it back and this time they supposedly fixed it AND sold me $30 worth of RAM. Got home and now my email account is totally missing!! Waiting for a call back from the technician that worked on it. Completely unethical company. I brought in a brand new touch screen computer to have the LCD screen replaced. My kid accidentally hit the screen with a plastic dice and lines were running up and across the screen. Easy diagnosis. The technician told me it would take a week to get an estimate, but if I paid $50 extra, he would move me up in the queue. So that is completely unethical, people who can't or won't pay extra get pushed down the queue? I decided to wait, I could pay extra but I'm not going to screw over other people. Nine days come and go and I still haven't heard anything. I call and finally get an estimate-$850 plus tax. Mind you, I bought this computer brand new 6 months prior for $798, including tax and shipping. I found the exact LCD screen that needed to be replaced online-it's $250 new. So I was expecting to pay a lot but this company is clearly inflating prices hoping I'll just buy a new computer from them. read more

I decided to make a local purchase for a new work station for the business. An order in November was fulfilled in January. I left for a project out of town and did not open the box until three months later....not even a power cord, nothing but the PC. When I returned I was told that I was given the items that I clearly had not received. When I tried to escalate and speak with an owner I was bullied and strong armed by the store staff. I've waited to post this but I have a computer that is useless to me, not even antennas for the air card, nothing. I was told that my hard drive is bad and basically just tried to get me to buy one of their systems! I brought a working computer in to be wiped of my personal data so I could gift it to a friend. I had just powered it up and backed up my data minutes before taking it to them. The tech called after about a week and said the screen wouldn't come up. He said it was probably a motherboard problem. I told him I had the computer up and working right before taking it to them. I have gone here on 2 separate occasions. First was a problem with my MAC laptop. Second was with a virus I thought had infected my brand new PC laptop. Both times called ahead & got clear, patient, & comprehensive info. Told upfront the cost of the disgnostic fee ($25.00) which you pay when you drop your computer off & that they would get back to me within 2 days, which they did. My MAC was going to cost more than what I figured was worth it. They removed the hard drive & I left the laptop to be recycled. ( yes, I had already gone to the only Apple store in NM to find out what was wrong, cost, etc...). Second time I thought my brand new laptop was infected with a virus. It was explained to me after describing the problem that it was most likely malware. Took it in; a program for malware was added & a virus program suggested called Kalpersky which I got. This is probably the very best computer service company in Albuquerque. I had my computer fail due to the hard drive going bad. Rather than replace the hard drive on this old computer, they suggested I look at purchasing another unit. They have a bunch of restored computers which they guarantee for a year, the same as new ones. Evan helped me pick out one with a reasonable price, and also a reconditioned monitor. Even transferred everything over for me, gave me clear instructions on what I needed to do to restore some files. We purchased 3 computers from this locally owned business for just that reason. However, when I took my laptop (purchased from them) in for a diagnostic, paid the $25 which I was happy to do, and was promised an answer in 24 to 48 hours. Forty-eight hours came and went and when I didn't hear from them, I called and found out that my computer hadn't even been checked. I was told it was "next on the que." However, when I called the next morning, I was told that it was just about to be put up for diagnosis. This was massively disappointing, given that this is supposed to be the best computer store in Albuquerque. It would have been fine if they had bothered to call me and let me know that they were backed up and it was going to take a little longer, but to be ignored, twice, was pretty unforgivable for a business that prides itself on personal service. read more

if this was about windows related computer issues, i would rate this company probably 4-5 stars. but my experience was about apple system. it took 2 supports and 2 separate visits, each taking 2 days to work on my problem, which was trying to restore an image from earlier few days. in the process, their work ended up problem with OS itself, that could not load or start. but the support took additional 2 days to recover my original material. after all, they recommended to see apple support, which I did, with resolution and a simple fix that took about a min. of time on the phone. staff very cordial and genuinely want to help. but to my experience, this is not for apple computer issues, as one would expect from their reputation on windows base computing read more

I recently dropped my computer off for repair. I asked them to fix my keyboard and some software issues. When I went to use the computer that evening, the keyboard had been ruined. It looks like it had some kind of product put on it that melted the keys. And a couple of the keys fell off. I called to complain and they denied any wrongdoing. They said I did it by leaving the computer in the car and let it overheat. Which didn't happen. I picked up the computer in 48 degree weather and drove straight home. read more

We have done business with Computer Corner for years, so when my wireless network crashed, I put in a frantic call to them for help. I spoke with Evan who assured me that they would gladly come to my home and fix it, but had I tried the online diagnostics for my modem? He explained how to find the information I needed and asked me to let him know one way or the other if that solved my problem. After working my way through the online prompts and restoring my modem, I was able to connect all of my computers and mobile devices, but not the printers. So I called Evan back, explained the situation, and we agreed to schedule a repair appointment for the next day. Meanwhile, I was able to get the printers connected, so I called Evan to cancel the home visit, thanking him for his help. I worried about purchasing from an independent store instead of purchasing from Costco. Sure enough 4 days from Christmas with the laptop 1 year old I can't get phone support. It has to be brought in for service. At Costco I get a 2 year warranty and phone tech support as often as I need it. This is the 2nd negative issue I've had with them. When I firat purchased the laptop I was given security software and when I couldn't get it to install I was told that it would cost me 90.00 to get it installed. Won't buy here again. After first calling to verify they could do it, I took my printer in specifically to have the waste ink absorber pads cleaned. After paying a diagnostic fee of $25, they told me about other problems (which I did not have because the printer was working perfectly well when I brought it in). I told them just to clean the pads. They then said they did not have the tools to do it. So, I am out $25 and no work done on the printer. If no stars were an option, I would have picked it. read more

How on earth has this company been in business for the last 27 years?!?! I took my computer there to have a virus removed. I was greeted by a young smart a** kid who acted like i was bothering him. I checked in my computer anyway in hopes the service was better then my initial impression. The tech told me i would receive a call in 2 days regarding my computer --- fast forward 3 days later and still no call. On the 4th day i called in to get an update and they informed me they weren't aware of what was wrong with the computer because the young kid had written it illegibly. Long story short, they quoted me almost $300 to remove the viruses and give me an anti-virus program. I gladly declined service and picked up my computer. I talked to a friend about this whole thing and he also said they install used computer parts inside computers. I was then recommended to another company in town and ended up having a wonderful experience and only spending only $100. Being new to the area... I'm hoping all future experiences here in ABQ with computer techs are as pleasant as the latter of the two I've had thus far. read more
