He included the hallway in the price to honor his first quote. He said he didn't want to go back on his original quote...this was all still at our home during the consultation. He said it would be three days but maybe two days. He also said he may be working until 10pm. The evening before he was supposed to be painting our house, he called saying it was actually going to be $1,500 because he didn't account for needing a second guy to help and all of the equipment. We discussed at the consultation what he would need! I can't help but think how shady this all is. This change in price was after we asked for the invoice at the beginning and not the end of the job because we didn't want to go off of a verbal agreement. I want to start off by saying, this location is under new ownership, so this is not a reflection on…read morethe past owners which sounds like they were great to work with. I had them come out to do some painting and staining which was being covered by my insurance company. Be warned, if you have them do work for you, they will not work with you on timing for payment. I was waiting on my insurance depreciation check to be endorsed by our mortgage company. The owner called me and told me that he needed the money right away so that he could pay his contractor. So basically he was trying to make the fact that he couldn't pay his contractor my fault because I hadn't paid my invoice in full yet (I had already paid most of the bill with the first check I received from State Farm). I just needed a week to receive the final endorsed check and I would have paid in full. So, I had to pay the final bill using my credit card which meant paying the credit card processing fee. If this is really how they do business now, then that means they don't have cash in the bank to pay their bills while they wait for payment from customers. This is not a good way to do business and is a huge red flag. My advice when looking for a painting contractor for insurance work, is to ask about their ability to work with you on insurance payments. If they are unwilling to work with you, there are others that will. I neglected to ask first and got burned. As for the quality of the work, the team they sent out did a great job. That's a reflection on the contractor, not on CertaPro themselves, so take that with a grain of salt.
