The biggest downside of this shop is it gets so busy you really have to be careful what time you go, opt for early morning if you want to do some serious shopping as the queues can be long.

A - Z Family Discounts don't do a huge amount in the gardening department, but I still found myself buying a couple of things that I needed. A - Z Family Discounts is run by a really lovely couple that will help you navigate the shelves if you get a little lost. It's not that their shop is so vast that it's impossible to find things, it's just that they carry such a diverse range of stock that things are not always easy to find. It's a case of there being a bit of this and a bit of that, and so it's difficult for consistency to be achieved in the layout in certain areas of the shop. They stock a good range of cleaning equipment and household items as well as a variety of tools, fancy goods, gifts and toys as well as the gardening range.

The kids love it in there because they have a great selection of small toys and craft materials. All of these products are sold at discount prices and are good quality items. The front of the shop has recently been replaced in a traditional style and looks very in keeping with the rest of the High Street. They have friendly, efficient staff. Maureen apeared and asked me if I needed any help so in no time at all the remaining dozen os so items that I could not find were in my basket. Other shops include Poundland, TX Maxx, Card Factory, Store Twenty One, F. Hinds and Claire's. I couldn't find the wooden statue of Merlin yesterday which is supposed to stand here perhaps it has been removed for renovation or repair. Merlin's Walk is situated next to the bus station and there's a large car park at the Argos end too. Opening times: Mon-Sat: 9am 5.30pm Sundays: 10am 4pm (Late night shopping at Christmas)

There was a good range of sizes available. I was also looking for some jogging bottoms but they didn't have them in my size. The shorts were £10 which I felt was quite reasonable, though not cheap, because they are good quality and I'd rather pay for that than go into town and get either a cheap pair that won't last or are ridiculously expensive for the logo on them. The shop also offers a good range of vegetarian food in the chilled cabinet - worth a look!

The service is always efficient and friendly, and even when there's a queue it goes down quickly - but watch out on the opening times because it closes at 4pm and is only open weekdays.
