Came by it through Tim Keller's website (it's a pca church recommended by a pca church planeter). A good mix for a church family: many young adults, kids, college kids, adults and elderly. I've been here four times now and am starting to get a feel for the church…read more The Good: the venue/location at the Computer History Museum right off the 101 on Shoreline is easy to access and convenient. The service time is short and sweet, consistently one hour on the dot, with a ~20 min sermon. The congregation is very diverse and the people here are generally very nice and welcoming. They have ample organic coffee and doughnut holes laid out before and after every service. The pastor's sermons are bible-based and offer some practical application to modern day life. The bad: the pre-school teacher Jess was cold and not very welcoming to either us or our child. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but she did not make us feel comfortable and clearly did not want to be there. When we asked if my wife could stay with the child, she visibly bristled and said "for 5 minutes." When we explained that this was his first time and that he was not used to being in these kind of situations, she responded "yeah, there may be some tears, but usually they get over it. If he continues to cry, you'll have to come get him." She did not have a good poker face and her expressions clearly showed displeasure and annoyance at our questions. I don't know her personally, but the pre-school ministry is clearly not the right place for her. The other volunteers in the kids ministry were all very welcoming and friendly, taking the time to walk us through the check-in and check-out process. As toddler parents, a big part of our decision to join and stay with a church community is based on the experience for our child, who is just being introduced to God's family and love. We would strongly encourage the church leaders to reevaluate the pre-school program and find another volunteer who is a better representative of God's family and love.

The staff are so intentional and the ministries in which they serve are blessed by their devotion. David's sermons are really well-rounded as he's really intent on making biblical points that are applicable but don't stray from the original context and meaning. An additional bonus to coming to Current is the yummy snacks they have on special occasions (shoutout Rocko's Tacos, BonChon, and more). If you're looking for a local church that will welcome you with open arms and encourage you to grow in your faith, you should definitely visit Current (and take advantage of the free visitor lunch).

There were both positive and negative thoughts. I allowed the Lord to lead me. I was immediately greeted by Annabel. A lovely bright young lady. From the moment I stepped on the grounds, through the worship service and the word brought forth by Pastor Smith was pure servitude. They made me feel welcome. The praise and worship team led by Pastors wife sang uplifting songs to the Lord. The congregation was fully engaged and the Holy Spirit showed up. The children's church recited bible verses that they learned. Just warmed my heart. Pastor Kaloma Smith brought the word from 1 Kings 18: 20-40. Resetting our Expectations of God! He shared his experience of hearing the Lord. Having faith and favor during the transition from the East coast to the West coast. His wife supporting him and standing with him. They have a digital online network. Scriptures on Demand. This sermon is worth hearing again. Just powerful and plain explanation of today's practical wisdom. When I'm in Sunnyvale again, I will definitely visit again.

The church community is small but super warm and close-knit. The pastor and choir members are from Tonga and many members have stuck with this community for decades. This is not only an inclusive church with an international feel, but it also has a tradition of investing in teens and kids. Graduations and personal milestones are celebrated. Everyone is passionate about contributing to this community and supporting each other. This church also engages the local community through weekly food distribution. I wish I had heard of and become part of this community much earlier. No matter what your identity and background is, you would find your place here.

We were greeted so kindly at the door by a couple of ushers and the inside was simply beautiful. The music was lovely and the environment was quiet and reverent. Though a bit difficult to understand at times, the priest saying Mass that morning was kind and lively! The location was perfect and so close to many cafes downtown for walking to get coffee and brunch with friends after Mass. I would definitely return here on my next visit!
