Just wanted to say Conns got what they deserved! I bought a sofa and love seat and had them delivered about five miles away. I must have threw the receipt away but the delivery charge was outrageous! Not having my strong reading glasses i realized they had also charged to me and additional surcharge which was something like $250.00. i reported it but never got a call back about it. I wished I had shopped around more, I will never buy from Conn's EVER AGAIN! I bought a $3000.00 sofa, when I looked at it in store the back cushions remove. When they delivered the back cushions were sewn in and ripped, now they are ripping all the way across! I called them and they said they wouldn't take it back, in fact he hung up on me! Don't do it! We bought living room furniture from them a few years ago. First of all, they had the financing all wrong and were charging us interest when it was supposed to be interest free for 36 months. It took me several trips to the store and phone calls to get it straightened out. We bought bonded leather which we were told would be the strongest material to hold up to our pets. WRONG! With normal wear and tear, this furniture is ripping to shreds! There are pieces of it all over our house and it looks terrible. I received a flyer from Conns telling me that I was approved for $7500.00 in cred at the store, I had previously been there and purchased a refrigerator, and it was an LG refrigerator and it seems to be working fine, so my wife and I decided to go see if they had a bed. We get to the store and was told that we did qualify for the $7500.00 ZERO % financing for a year, so we purchased an adjustable bed, and before we signed the paperwork we asked if I could add the refrigerator to the paperwork, and at 1st they said no, but came back and said yes they could do it, so we signed the paperwork, only to find out when they sent the bill out that they added the bill together, but dropped the ZERO FINANCE CHARGES, and they refused to help me get it straight. STAY AWAY FROM CONNS. Not just this location but ANY of them. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and have spoken with other customers who've realized what a "con" of a place this store is. There are actually over 20 complaints to the North Carolina Attorney Generals office about this particular location. If you've had a bad experience, please call Marsha at the NCAG office and file a complaint. Especially the lady who wrote a review on here that they forged her signature... eventually the NCAG will pursue a lawsuit like they did to Conns in Texas. So call call call! Now, I went in yesterday to look at desktop computers. Applied for their credit, because I really need a computer for school but due to a bad inquiry on my credit history from years ago, I can't get approved for Best Buy or anything like that. I was approved for $2000 at Conns, which was more than enough for a computer. I found one I liked a lot and they brought out the box, as I was waiting to get everything in order I decided to look that computer up online to see reviews. Well, low and behold there was NO info on that computer. Not on any other dealers website, not on HP, NOWHERE! It's like that computer didn't even exist anywhere else. I informed the sales associate, and several others came to see if we could find any info on this computer. Nope, nada. So I said I wasn't willing to pay $1600 for a computer that's obviously been discontinued for a long time or doesn't exist or whatever. One associate supposedly called HP and said they supposedly told him "it was last years model and that it is being replaced with a new model" so therefore, I was NOT paying that much for an old computer. We eventually found the "new model" of the computer and the brand new model was priced $400-500 less everywhere else, than this old model. I told them if they could discount that computer to at least the price of the new model, that I would still buy. They completely refused, said the only way they could discount it is if I had an actual paper flyer from a local store that showed the exact same computer for a lower price. HOW CAN I FIND THE EXACT SAME MODEL WHEN IT DOESNT SEEM TO EXIST ANYWHERE ELSE?! I told them it was a total rip off that they could price gouge something because most people, like me, come there because that's the only place they can get credit. Now I know, you expect prices to be higher at a place that can approve anyone but that price is a total scam. That's literally taking advantage of people because most people don't do their research like I did. I decided once I left to check some of the other computers they sell there... guess what? EVERY SINGLE MODEL they sell is discontinued or whatever the case is. You look up any of the model numbers on google and it's literally like they do not exist anywhere other than CONNartist store. How is that legal? I believe they're walking a fine line and i will do my best to save anyone else from buying outdated things there for way more than they're even worth. I'd rather be computer-less than to put myself in a situation with that "business" especially after I've read more reviews of this company. I had to yell at them that it was harassment to get them to stop calling after I have already told them to stop for the tenth time! Conn's has nice items for sale. But I found that they are a bait and switch type of retailer. Went in looking to purchase one of those massage chairs that I don't need for $4,000. They advertise online interest free for 60 months. I get in the store and get approved for $9,000 of credit but they tell me that I'm only approved for 12 months interest free. That is a typical bait and switch technique. But fortunately for me this item was easy to walk away from. It was a WANT and not a NEED. Very poor business tactics. That place is like a used car lot. They swarm you when you walk in the door. They want to control your every move in the store. I think I'll stay away. It was a scary thing to experience. Even brought the manager over to convince me. Exactly like car lots do. But no worries. I found my chair at a slightly better price. So I'm good. read more

I liked the guy that helped me pick out all of my furniture and stuff he was really awesome however I ordered this stuff in December well when I got home from work my couch had a giant rip in it the delivery people told my babysitter hey it can be replaced if anything's wrong you just call us and let us know well that's not true they don't replace furniture so nobody inspected it before leaving it here with my babysitter so I got stuck with it one guy called me said hey we're going to replace it we apologize for the inconvenience my couch still ain't been replaced when I try to call I get put on hold and hung up on then I called gastonia, plus spoke to the general manager she said she'd call me back in a few minutes she was going to look it up that was a week ago not very happy I've had better services with Rent-A-Center anytime I have an issue and I call them it's immediately fixed. read more

Went and resigned, made last payment last month. I now find out I owe for 36 instead of 24. They pulled a fast one when they asked to resign for different address. I'm purchasing a 70" Samsung 4K HDTV through Conn's. I found out where the name comes from, they're a bunch of con artists. The tv worked for a day before it stopped showing a picture (I had audio just no video). I called the store which gave me an 800 number for customer service. I was told someone would call me within 24-48 hours. Its a week later and I still haven't received a call. I go to the store to return the tv and was told I'd have to pay a 15% restock fee. What??? They never told me about a restock fee, if they did I would have walked out. Everywhere else will give a refund and these cons are charging more instead. I'll pay the restock fee just so I can get away from them. My advice: go to Aaron's instead. read more

BEWARE CONN'S on New Hope Rd, in Gastonia NC...I went to Conn's, in good faith and bought a new dryer and washer and dishwasher. The deal they made included free delivery of my order and free installation And free disposal of the old equipment. The dryer was not installed correctly, the washer was absolutely NOT installed correctly and 2 weeks later the dishwasher is STILL SITTING in the box in my living room. I have made 6 calls to Conn's, who say not their problem because they contract out their delivery and installation of the appliances. They gave me a number to call and unless I take off from work it can't be installed. Now, I told Conn's at the time of purchase, that I could Not take off during the week, but I could be home on weekends. They assured me that wouldn't be a problem. Today Conn's refused to let me talk to a manager and told me, again, they couldn't help me. They gave me a phone number for the installation company, and That company says they don't do installs on weekends, and only 8 to 5 during the week. For me to take off work for the day, I won't be able to make my house payment. BEWARE buying from Conn's, as once they have your money, They Just write you off and could careless that a 65 year old person has had a dishwasher in the box STILL sitting in the living room for 2 weeks now. BEWARE!!! They forge your SIGNATURE (New Hope Rd. Gastonia location) without you even reading any of the documents! We ONLY signed one time, a 4 to 5 sentence that you agree to the purchase, and then I got the email for the entire contract AFTER my purchase, my initials AND signature were all forged, saying I agreed and that I read the entire contract. NOPE, I was NEVER given the opportunity to read the 6-8 pages of the contract. Ok, so who really reads all the fine print, BUT, I read the important things like exchanges and returns which I was NOT given the opportunity to read. Store manager is trying to say that I did sign and initial all the sections, and that I did it once on their Ipad which "he" says it will fill in all other areas electronically. Nope, signed one time and then all initials and other signatures were forged. Made a call to the store manager, and he said he would review the security cameras and get right back to me. Yeah, um, that NEVER happened, because he can see that I only signed ONCE and never had the chance to read the entire contract. I would give 0 stars but I want this to be seen. I had a somewhat pleasant experience with the Sales guy Kevin. He was accomodating since it was over the phone and I wasn't able to be in store. I was told to come in the next day and at most all it would take was 15 minutes to sign the papers. I get there and and hour and a half later we finally signed the papers. There was an inventory issue with the dresser I wanted. Eventually I was told that the dresser WAS IN STOCK and I would have a FULL delivery on Monday. Monday comes and the delivery driver arrives minus the one dresser I was assured was in stock. He did bring the mirror for the dresser but not the dresser. He advised that the dresser would be delivered the next day. After waiting on the delivery confirmation I realized it wouldn't be the next day but actually Thursday. So I wait all the way until Thursday with no dresser and a mirror just laying in my bedroom. I had to arrange for someone to be there since we can't change delivery times and I had already missed work due to the Monday delivery. The dresser is finally there and they of course have no screws to attach the mirror now. Now they want to reschedule a delivery for the next day for a pack of screws. Which we all know will really be 2-3 days later since they already lied before. No body knows why they can't get things right and no one is willing to take accountability for the mess ups either. Poor, poor, poor customer service. I went in to Conn's to review their washer and dryers. The first time I went in their account system was down so that was understandable. I later that evening received an email letting me know I was approved and for how much. In addition, I received a call from the store manager verifying the approval to come in to pick out what I needed (although I had already picked out the washer and dryer at the first visit in the store). I was told to come back the next day. I went back the next day and had to have 2 small children with me! I thought the visit would be to go in sign documentation, pay the down payment I was quoted and go over the terms of the contract. We were in the store for 3 hours! I had to leave. The kids were getting ansy and better yet wanted to run around and play. I advised the store I would come back the next day to finalize. The next day upon my return around 7:30p (store closes at 8p, I was told the store closed at 8 they would not be able to assist me. To come back yet again on Monday. On Monday I called let account representative know that I was back at work and was told that I no longer qualified for the sales the store was having upon our first visit to the store. Poor!
