This is the spot to come for beer, wine, and it looks like for the food too! We ended up not eating here as we just came in for a nightcap. We sat on the left side of the bar nearest the windows to do some nighttime watching of Madrid folks walking and going by on a rainy Sunday. We were served promptly after selecting a seat at the bar and given some cheese and a small portion of bread pieces. There is a large digital menu showcasing the beers they have on tap with all of the details such as ABV, whether the beer was made in-house at La Canibal, what region the beer is coming from, size/portions offered, and the price. We ended up sticking with the beers La Canibal brewed in house that include a Hefeweizen and a Kolsh-style/easy drinking beer. We were. very pleased with the tastings of the beer and the offerings to have taster-size to large size beers. This was a very lively place with many folks catching up with each other, laughing, having a great time, and is just the perfect spot to have some wine, beer, and food. I guess it's a European thing as service is very slow and we were getting a bit annoyed. Luckily, the food finally did arrive and it was pretty good. We started off with the Croquettes (€11.50). Although we ordered the meat one, they gave us the squid one which I didn't realize until afterwards. Unfortunately the boyfriend doesn't eat seafood, so I ended up eating the appetizer by myself. These fried ball were good though, but very filling and best for sharing. For the main entrees, I had the Octopus with Potatoes (€24) while he had the Slow-Cooked Angus Ribs with Fries (€27.50). Both of these dishes were delicious as the meat was tender and flavorful. I didn't care too much for the potato in the octopus though, but all tasty still. Be aware you will get slow service, but the food is great. It's a nice restaurant with various Spanish cuisines.

If you time it right, you can grab this table and stuff your pie hole with local sausages, cured meats, and Spanish wine, beer or Vermouth while watching Madridian life pass you by. There may not be a better way to ruin what could have been an otherwise productive day! The menu is substantial but is largely made up of combinations of the various cured meats and cheeses that the shop is known for. Unlike spots that promote only Iberian ham and Manchego cheese, Casa González has all manner of meats and cheeses so it is a fantastic spot to go to for variety within this genre. I think that only strict vegans will be angered by what is on offer here. I recommend Casa Gonzalez for a meat and cheese orgy if you are in the area. They have been doing this since 1931 so you know that they have a winning formula.
