Something weird was happening to my carpet that I had installed a few years ago. The carpet manufacturer sent out an inspector who said it was pet damage which it did look like. That may have been part of the problem, but most could not based on the location and pattern of the spots. But still the manufacturer wouldn't cover it. Marty replaced it anyway at no cost (not even depreciation) to me which I so appreciated! It cost $2 more per yard and he didn't charge the difference! WIthout question, this is who you want to go with for any carpet job you might have going. I rarely write reviews even though I use Yelp often (I know.....very bad). But given how exceptional the family team is at Contract, I felt I just had to do it here. We had Contract Carpet install carpeting in the guest bedrooms of our Cardiff home. This local, old-school (meaning that they really care) run business has a tight operation. Not only did they offer a fair price, they were exceedingly attentive to every detail and professional every step of the way. When the guys came to do the install they noticed that the carpet roll had an imperfection. The owner quickly showed up on the scene and encouraged me to have the manufacturer send out a new roll. We had to wait an additional 10 days. But get this, Carol called me nearly every one of those days to give me an update. In today's no-service, automated economy this was like a breath of fresh air. It made me feel that they had my back and were more concerned than I was to get the carpet installed as quickly as possible. Amazing. The guys did a great job on the install and we're thrilled with the outcome. In my last conversation with Carol she went out of her way to tell me that the Contract team is available at anytime should there be a snag or a need to re-set or re-stretch. Hand's down, this is who we will go with when we are ready to re-carpet. Truly TOP NOTCH all the way. read more

We just had Contract Carpet install our wood floors, carpet and baseboards for our entire home. They did an excellent job!! Everything-yes, everything turned out great. They were on schedule start to finish. Even in the beginning when we needed to move back the install they accommodated our dates. This is the 3rd time I have used them. Simply the best. I had a smaller re carpeting job (2 flights of stairs) but got the level of service in terms of attention and pattern matching as if i were doing an entire home. Totally satisfied with the job and then, about 6 months later one of the stairs had a pet stain problem that multiple professional cleanings could not effectively be removed. I asked the advice of Cotract and they offered to replace the stained individual stair AT NO COST. They scheduled the job right away and the stairs are now back to original condition. AMAZING AND PROFESSIONAL IN EVERY REGARD (AND NICE TOO). I highly recommend them and will use them again any time i have flooring needs. read more

I have recommended Marty and his team at Contract Carpet before but I now have even more reason to praise them. They installed some Mohawk carpet in two of my bedrooms about three years ago. I began noticing that it was not wearing well in many areas, especially those more tracked. I called Marty and he totally agreed it was wearing poorly and filed a claim with Mohawk. Well after two inspectors came out the company said it was due to corn rowing which is not a covered problem. No warning came with the design of carpet I chose stating that this could happen and not be covered and Marty was completely dissatisfied with how Mohawk handled the problem. Yesterday, Marty said he plans to replace my carpet at his expense since I am a good customer, paid a lot for a "quality" carpet and he wanted me to be happy and satisfied. Even though we tried hard to decline his offer, the team says they feel strongly about helping us and look forward to us choosing a new carpet. These guys were amazing, and everyone was incredibly nice and very easy to communicate with. We had 5 bedrooms, including master bedroom, closet, and large bonus room, as well as the deep closet under the stairs re-carpeted, and they did it in only half a day. We chose a middle-of-the road budget, and the price was very competitive. Everything was very well communicated and happened exactly as I was told, with no surprise charges. We recently had carpeting and vinyl flooring installed in a 3 BDRM home we were preparing for sale (parent's estate). Marty (owner) came out to measure and gave us the best price estimate we had received. He also came up with a great solution for the enclosed sun room, an indoor/outdoor carpet material that looked great. The whole jobs was done on schedule, looked beautiful, and their clean up was super. He even did finish caulking of the vinyl around the toilets and along walls and cabinets - wasn't expecting that. Very professional. Couldn't be more pleased. Sold the place the first day it was listed for full price! I have used them in the past, just used them before the holidays and will go to them every time I have carpet or flooring for my home. If only they sold other things I would use them for that as well. They were so helpful with my carpet and pad selection and accommodating for scheduling the install. They were even too considerate when it came to a situation with making up the extra carpet into pads. The binding color wasn't what I was expecting (they have nothing to do with the binding as they send it out to a company who decides what color to use) and they were so fair with how we handled the situation. Needless to say, it is great to support small businesses and I would ask that you use this company over any big box store!! Their prices match or beat box stores and their customer service surpasses the impersonal box store. I highly recommend this company!! read more

We chose Contract Carpets because their sons' names are the same as ours - how could we not choose them?! And it was the absolute right choice. We initially chose a very expensive carpet, but when Marty came to the house to do the measurements, he talked us out of the expensive carpet, saying there was a better choice for our house. He was correct. The two men who installed the carpet could not have been more careful, efficient, or hard-working. As another reviewer said, the process from start to finish was hassle-free. We used Contract Carpet in Encinitas because they are a local family business and have honest and fair prices. Marty is the owner and came over the morning they installed our carpet (upstairs master bedroom and downstairs family room). I noticed one of the workers in my daughter's nursery with the carpet pulled back and thought for a second they were pulling up the old carpet in the wrong room!! Marty and his team were actually FIXING a snag in carpet they did not install!! I thought this was such a wonderful gesture! They really go above and beyond and have extremely fair prices. We had compared their store to a discount warehouse used by designers only (supposedly extremely discounted place). Contract Carpet is a wonderful place to do business with and we will continue to use them in the future! read more

I normally never write reviews, but do read them and appreciate the feed back from customers. If you are looking at who to put in your carpet stop looking. You need to go with Contract Carpet if you want piece of mind. Not only are they a fantastic family owned business, but they stand behind their carpet. They were great to work with on all levels, selecting a carpet, scheduling and installation. After our carpet was in we had a problem with it and Marty (owner) came right out to take a look. We ended up having to process a claim through the manufacturer, Marty assured us that they would take care of us if the manufacturer didn't honor the warranty. As it turned out the manufacturer would not replace our carpet, but true to his word Marty took care of us and replaced our carpet. There is no way you would get that kind of customer service and piece of mind from Home Depot, Empire or anywhere else. read more

In comparing different stores to purchase carpet I compared this family owned to home depot, lowes and a carpet direct store. The most honest and clear information was given to me by this store. Susie was great! She was kind, knowledgable, and honest. The cost of the carpet was comparable to the other stores when considering all the add ons with home depot and lowes (installation, removal, disposal, measurement, padding, moving furniture). The big difference was the fact that Contract Carpet includes moving and breaking down the furniture where the others charge for moving furniture and will not break down furniture (ie beds) Also home depot and possibly Lowes? will add to your carpet price ,20% more carpet to cover the cuts (I was told this is bec the carpet rolls width is 12ft). I'm not sure if contract carpet does this? A friend told me the stain master & Martha Stewart carpets sold at Home depot have warranties that cover All pet stains incl. feces and vomit. I didn't believe it, so i asked two clerks, both at the Encinitas store, said "yes they do" but upon further investigation in fact they do not! They cover traffic wear and discoloration and pet urin stains (not odor) as long as you keep record of professional cleaning every 18 mths. (ck the fine print on both companies warranties) Regardless, Contract Carpet and others have the same warranties for stain master carpets bec the warranty doesn't come from the store but from the yarn manufacturers not the mills. Do your research but if you want a knowledgable honest store to work with I would highly recommend Contract Carpet. I have not yet used them for installation but would recommend them based on my experience to date ;-). read more

Tired of visiting box stores? My husband and I visited three and asked each to request a larger sample of a carpet we thought we might like to purchase. We waited and waited...nothing. No call, no samples, nothing! Then we did what we probably should have done in the beginning..to look on the internet for carpet business recommendations. Contract Carpet had some very nice reviews from past customers so we decided to try them. Carol understood what we were looking for and helped us sort through their selections. We asked if she would request larger samples so we could check the colors in our rooms. No problem...we had the samples in days. To make this short, we ordered our carpet cut into area rugs and thought it might take several weeks to get the carpet cut and bound, but it came in seven days. Don't know if they'd be that fast for wall to wall or a different make of carpet, but we are very happy with what we've received. We recommend Contract Carpet. If there are any other comments over time, I will be adding those to Yelp. read more
