This Gym reminds me of the old school day gyms. Great squat racks, lots of free weights, cardio machines, spin classes, pretty much everything you need they have. I think they open at 5, which is great! They have sanitation spray bottles and towels that you can take with you to each station that you go to if you want. If I travel back to Hilton Head I'll definitely keep going to this gym!

This gym has no barbells, benches, or squat racks. They do have a smith machine that you can manage to do most lifts on, but it doesn't go low enough to do any pulling exercises. There is a solid amount of dumbbells going up to 80 lbs, so you can get a decent lift in. Additionally, they have a lot of machines to work around the lack of free weights. If you're just trying to do some cardio, this gym will do the job. They have a stair master, multiple treadmills, a few rowers, and a few cycles. Overall, I had a decent experience at the Players Club Fitness Center. It was very inexpensive ($20 for our group for the week), very clean, and the equipment was fairly new and kept up. The staff was very kind, and greeted us every time we came in. However, due to the lack of free weights, I don't think I'll be back again.

But found XP Fitness and I'm super glad I did. The owner quickly got me set up with a day pass and made it clear his goal was for the gym to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone regardless of your fitness goals. Really friendly and kind. He showed me to the powerlifting room which had all kinds of bars, power bars, competition bench, Thompson fat pads, platforms, and rogue power racks (and chalk!). The gym was clean, had great machines selections (always excited to see a belt squat). Would 100% recommend this gym to anyone looking. Wish I had this gym near my own home town! Cold towels are a nice touch in savasana. Every experience I've had at BYH has been welcoming and professional. The studio director BranDon takes time to meet new students personally and better understand your needs, and teachers are friendly and helpful. I've had some very bad experiences with some so called trainers, only to find out that they went through a two week training class. Melanie has made personal training her life's work. It's a comfort to me that she has not only been Certified as an ELITE trainer, but that she's also taught about her craft at the college level. Her upbeat, caring attitude and her amazing skills and knowledge make her tops of my list. Sorry to see her move away.. but I know she will be a gift to the people of Hilton Head.
