a table and chairs in a restaurant

In the past, I've had a mixed relationship with cook out. The food was never consistently good, but it wasn't terrible. Fast forward to post-pandemic and they are now remodeled. My family and I decided to give them another try. Pros: The service, the burgers, and the tea! The people were incredibly friendly, the tea was delicious with the perfect balance of sweet, and the burger was oozing out delicious melted cheese. Cons: Hush puppies were meh, the fries were floppy and not that great, and they no longer play Christian radio Overall, will do in a pinch for the burger and tea, but the rest I suppose depends on the day. I'm giving a 4 star just because of the service alone.

The bacon wrap side is really loaded with good bacon!

On the way back from a graduation ceremony at Avarette University, we stopped for gas and while discussing where to eat, we saw the Cookout next door. Checked Yelp and saw good comments about the food and decided to get our meal there. Glad we fid! Contrary to some reviews, we had no trouble with the orders getting mixed up. That might have been because we went in instead going through the drive through window. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got what we ordered. We each got a Cookout tray special. $4.99 with a sandwich or burger plus two sides and a drink. I got a spicy chicken sandwich with cole slaw and a bacon wrap. Food was quite tasty and the bacon wrap was loaded with good bacon. We'd love to come back to this restaurant often but it's 355 miles away from us. If we are in southern Virginia or the Carolinas, we'll look for the Cookout chain. Would love for a franchise outlet to open in the Baltimore area some day :-)

Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Cookout of Danville VA

This Cookout is one of the newer ones that has an indoor dining area & a single drive-thru. It's located right next door to the Sheetz gas station on Riverside Dr. On my visits the food has been as good as any other Cookout I've been to. They have great chargrilled burgers & grilled chicken sandwiches, pretty good hot dogs & decent BBQ & BBQ sandwiches, the milkshakes ofcourse are outstanding. The drive-thru here seemed a bit slow on my visits, I think they were training new people. My last visit all I ordered was a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato & pickles & the lady on the speaker repeated my order back to me incorrectly, after I repeated my order to her 3 times & she repeated it back to me incorrectly all 3 times I finally just gave up & said "yes, that's correct" after her 3rd attempt to get it right, i could hear the 2 people in front of me placing their orders and they had the same confusion with the lady repeating different stuff than what they were ordering, it was actually kinda comical. When I got to the window they were teaching her how to run the register so I'll give them a pass this time. To my disbelief, my chicken sandwich was fixed the way I ordered it, but not how the order taker repeated it to me, go figure.

    No sauce in my quesadilla

This is the worst cookout I've been too , my fries had too much seasoning and my quesadillas had no sauce . They all have terrible attitudes.

    My no pickle.....pickles

This is the worst Cookout I've ever been to and one of the worst restaurants. I've been there religiously because the food taste good and its cheap, but 99% of the times I've been there, they have messed up my order. I ask every time I go for no pickle on my burger and they repeat it back to me. They even put no pickle on the receipt, but low and behold, there are always pickles on the burger. I just expect there to be pickles even though I ask for none. The confusion between grilled onions and regular onions is also an issue. Be careful if you dont want pickle, you will most likely get it.

Twenty minutes to get a burger fries and drink. Workers just standing Aaron's looking off into space doing nothing.

Ok first of all I never order boneless wings but when I share with my wife she likes boneless…read morewings. So we got Boneless lemon pepper with a side of hot honey and ranch. As I cut a piece of the chicken, I noticed it was extremely tender. I also noticed that it appeared to be chunks of a breast hand battered. I dipped the chicken into the hot honey and then the ranch. OMG it was the BEST boneless chicken wing I've ever had! Seasoned perfectly with lemon pepper and cooked to perfection. We ate the whole plate of chicken! Brooke was our server and she said she was going to try them herself later. She was very helpful and offered a wide variety of food and drink options. I like when staff has actually tried the food and drinks to be able to offer and honest opinion. I ordered a river District, social margarita and a rum punch. Both were very good. The inside is so cool. The restaurant is a warehouse that they've turned to a recreational building to include pool tables, bowling alleys, and golf simulators. We will definitely be coming back!

Came in on a Tuesday night with my best friend for the $5 burger deal, which is a solid start. Just…read moreknow you are getting their standard burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and fries. Simple and classic. We both made a few tweaks. She skipped the onions, added ketchup and mustard, and got a side salad. I kept mine simple with no ketchup or mustard. Food came out fast. Appetizer and burgers hit the table in just over five minutes, which was impressive. The burgers were good. Not over the top, but juicy and worth the price. The only miss was the bun. It was cold and could have used a quick toast or at least some heat. The house salad was fresh with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cheese, and croutons. I tried to swap my fries for sweet potato fries and ended up getting both, so no complaints there. Just know the sweet potato fries count as extra. Fries came out hot and stayed hot. The sweet potato fries had a nice balance, not soggy, not too hard. The corn fritters were the standout. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Service from Amber or Shannon was great. Attentive, friendly, and helpful. The only slowdown came at the end. It took longer to get the check than it did to receive the food. The space is in a reclaimed industrial building with exposed brick and high ceilings. Very large and open with plenty of room for groups and events. There is a main dining area, a busy bar, and a separate section with bowling lanes. The crowd was mixed. Families, couples, groups, people at the bar, even a few on laptops. Plenty of TVs and music, but it stays at a manageable level. Accessibility is decent with a lift available. Parking is nearby street or lot parking. Overall, a fun, casual place with strong value, especially on Tuesday nights. Must order: Corn fritters Heads up: Buns may come out cold and sweet potato fries are an extra
