I was at cookout on 06/29/24 around 2:33am. As I was pulling up to cookout I noticed a very large man standing at his van facing south Broadway taking a piss right there in the lot. When I pulled in and approached him and told him he was being very nasty and disgusting. His reply was and I quote " FUCK YOU BITCH, IM CHIEF WELLS OF HELPING HANDS SECURITY.I CAN DO WHAT I WANT. " And told me to get off the lot. I was very upset that he spoke to me that way for him being head of security. As I rode back through I noticed that he was gone. So I spoke with the other guy he had Russell security on his back I was kind of confused two different names two different companies. But as I talk to this worker from Russell security inform me that it was two different companies and he was subcontracted. And he apologized for the actions of Chief Wells. And told me about no means that does that reflect on Russell security he was very embarrassed that he did that cuz he witnessed it as well. I don't know what cookout is thinking by having that security staff up there. But he was very unprofessional. And gross those are mostly college kids riding by him. And that's how he represent helping hand security. As long as helping hands is there I will not be spending any of my money with cookout. read more

When you go through the drive-through and order your food from the marquee it tells the price on the marquee, but when you get the food and the receipt the price is not just a little change more than what the marquee says but DOLLARS more so be ready for that when you eat at the cookout. read more

For fast food, this place pretty much has it all. Seriously. Look at their menu for a moment and you'll figure that out really quickly. And, they're inexpensive. My wife and I ate there today and got stuffed to the gills on $11.92. Not too shabby. The food is fast, fresh, and pretty darn tasty. Definitely recommend the onion rings and bacon wrap for a side. I completely understand why they asked us to eat on the picnic tables outside. However, COVID is a thing of the past. I just left this location and can honestly say it doesn't compare to the Frankfort locations food quality. This is my second time eating at this location. The first time the quality was sub par I attributed it to covid supply issues. So I told my kids while in the drive thru we'd see if that was the case. No it wasn't, I see and smell chargrill smoke but the flavor isn't on the burgers. We got the joke called Big double burger. White Castle Pattie's are thicker. This location is a rip, I'll be visiting the Frankfort loacation tomorrow. I'm placing the same order and if I don't get the same paper Pattie's. Wow, I can't believe anyone would ever eat here after making the mistake of going the first time. I had high hopes seeing it from the street since it seemed to have a busy drive through during the lunch rush. My gf and I decided to try it out since we were in the area, what a mistake that was. The girl behind the counter (btw only 1 cash register) was extremely rude, not a hello or a thank you just stank face all day long. If you hate people and your job then please do us all the favor and switch jobs. After we ordered, 1/2 of our meal was not in the bag and we considered not even mentioning it to stank face because we thought she might bite but my gf was determined to get the rest of her order. Anyways, we should have just thrown away the soggy and bland hush puppies, the horrible and microwaved chicken nuggets, abysmal chicken wrap and disgusting "cheddar" burger which was covered in nacho cheese sauce. The only thing that tasted ok were the fries and the Coke. It could've been worse though since the food was only $11, usually you get what you pay for but in this case the food was absolute garbage which is where we should have dumped it right after she gave us stank face. My first time here and I had the lowest expectations going in. My friends always told me it was like going to Tolly Ho if it was a chain fast food restaurant. I was honestly pretty impressed with what I got for what I paid. The prices are seriously low. I could dig change out of my couch cushions and probably still be able to order a meal. The lady at the front answered all my questions I had about he menu, she didn't seem like she wanted to be there but heck wouldn't either at midnight on a Friday night. The food ordering process is simple but for a first timer the amount of options is overwhelming. Once you are finished and the order is in you're given a number and by the time you sit down the food is ready. I got the basic cheeseburger, with a quesadilla and fries. Fries and burger were actually pretty tasty. The quesadilla reminded me of the ones I would make in my microwave as a poor college student. This place targets the poor, drunk and or high college crowd and it does it do well that I can't hate on it. Came in with the expectations of it being a disaster but left actually quite happily full and for whatever reason I even ordered a milk shake to go. Headed out to find someplace to eat around 11 pm on a Saturday night. The place as clean and packed with college kids. But they were all polite and respectful. You order at the counter and they call your number when the food is ready. I was looking forward to a burger and I should have realized since the place was called Cook Out that that burger would be char grilled. It was too char grilled for me. Tasted burnt. However the fries were excellent, served crispy and hot, and the corn dogs were state fair quality. Had to indulge in a milkshake for dessert which was well worth the trip. It had fresh banana pieces in it and was delicious. Very reasonably priced food items. I think the burger, 2 corn dogs, fries and the shake only came to about $10.Plenty of parking. Let's get this straight, it's a fast food joint. You know that going into it. When you walk into the place, the decor and the actual building are not like a fast food restaurant, they're more like an upscale restaurant. It left me wondering how they pay for the building and keep the cost of the food so low... I skipped ahead a bit. The meal deals are called "trays". I honestly passed up the tray menu when my eyes noticed the word "tray" I guess I was thinking they were family platters. I can't comment on the burgers because I ordered a three piece chicken strip tray. The trays come with your choice of two sides, some of the sides are ones that you would expect to be on the main entree menu, like wraps and quesadillas. As my sides I chose a chicken ranch wrap and fries. Everything came out piping hot and tasty. What's there to complain about? Yes, the stuff was probably frozen, but what other fast food place doesn't store their stuff frozen. I think that it's ridiculous that some people point out the obvious and then bashing the place for it. The prices of the trays are right at $5.00 each. I got a hamburger, chicken nuggets, hush puppies and drank about four cups of Cheerwine for $5. Absolutely incredible. The food itself is not going to blow your mind, but it really does taste like something you might have grilled at home. It's certainly worth every penny you pay for it, which is very few pennies overall. I think the balance between quality and price here is heavily in your favor. I'm not going to eat here every day or anything as I like being able to fit into human sized clothes, but when I just want some quick food this place is now high up on my "I'm just hungry and I don't really care what I'm eating" list. read more

I love, Love, LOVE hot dogs (have I mentioned this before?) and the ability to drive through and pick up 7-8 to tide me over to my next meal is handy. The taste of the items I've eaten here is what you should expect from a place called "Cookout" which is fine by me. The prices are excellent. The location is not really convenient to where I spend most of my time, but I'm sure it's great for students. The only reservation is the scary entrance/egress... whoa! I think the drive-thru is valuable here. Also if you have a huge appetite and want one of their "trays". We ordered a la carte, the small burgers with fries and onion rings because the trays would be too much food and we just drink water anyway. It was good for fast food, but if I'm going to eat in, I'd rather go down the street to Tolly-Ho where it isn't quite so loud (at lunch anyway) and the food is better. It's very cheap and they have a wide variety of stuff but the food taste cheap and congrats you can have the shittiest quesadilla you've had paired with the shittiest wrap you've ever had. That's how I feel about this place. I just don't get the appeal besides super cheap and to me just get Mcdonald's because it's cheaper and honestly it tastes way better. It's easy to rag on mcdonalds now but if you're comparing cheap food, it's way better than cookout. The service is also very slow and horrible and I'm not the only person to say this. Got their regular burger with fries and onion rings. Barely got my drink cup filled by the time my food was ready...very quick. Good food but nothing fancy or that I would write home to momma about even if I were still in college! Meal with drink only like $5 which surprised me but when I saw the portion size it made sense. I stayed at the Springhill Suites on Broadway in Lexington for a work conference for two weeks. I passed Cook Out on the way in and saw it was pretty packed around 10 PM on a Sunday night. I figured that was just the college kid crowd looking for late night eats, but Cook Out has a substantial crowd most of the time, and with good reason. Cook Out's food is fast food done correctly. The burgers, hot dogs, and chicken are all done better than most other fast food places. Everything is fresh from the grill and the toppings were all hot or cold depending on what I had. The insane part to me was Cook Out's deal. $5 for two cheeseburgers, fries, and a drink. It shouldn't taste as good as it does for how cheap it is. The milkshakes are what has brought me back to Cook Out a few times while I've been in Lexington. I've had the Peanut Butter & Banana and the caramel. Each time, it was the thickest milkshake I've had in years, very tasty and it lasted a long time because it was mixed so well. The selection of flavors is amazing. The service is quick. Inside, I never saw less than 2 people working and the drive-thru lane was rather fast too. The place is very standard Americana decor. Varnished wood tables, booths, chairs, and random nic-nacs that adorn the walls. I plan on having one more shake before I leave Lexington. It's worth the trip. read more
