Although I love myself a good cookie, I usually try to eat them infrequently given the unfortunate confluence of aging and a slowing metabolism. Neither apply when on vacation, though, so when I saw a shop with a rather familiar red furry 'Cookie Muncher' on the storefront, I figured I would have to stop by at least once to give them a try. In the end, I ended up paying a couple of trips, and boy was I happy to! You can order cookies individually, or in prepackaged bags in various sizes, as well as a few other treats. On a standalone basis, I had the chocolate chunk and the chocolate fudge brownie cookies, and both were fantastic. I think it starts with the dough, where it isn't overly sweet, yet it has a distinctive hearty doughiness that is the perfect palette for baking a cookie. Both cookies are served warm and gooey, making every bite delicious, and the brownie cookie really does taste like a brownie while maintaining the texture of a chewy cookie instead! My wife also grabbed a mini ice cream sandwich, pairing a scoop of honey almond ice cream between half a chocolate chip cookie. The ice cream on a standalone basis is really good - the honey and almond complement each other perfectly - but it also matches up really nicely with the cookie, adding a bit of sweetness to it, along with a cooler temperature.
The only minor gripe one could have is that the price is probably a tad high if you are not buying in bulk (single cookies go for NZD $3), but the taste is well worth it. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant and let us sample cookies as well, which is always a plus. It might come off as a bit kitschy, but Cookie Time is a great place to stop for a tasty, scrumptious snack. read more
