    Rehearsal before the showcase!

Cool Beans was a great experience for my kids! Corey is incredibly caring, welcoming, and positive. The showcase was very professional and alot of fun for everyone. My kids will absolutely be back!

We just had our showcase last night. And wow, what a journey and experience! I started the class wanting to learn about comedy, how to write a joke, and practice the craft. Corey and Andrew's guidance teaches you the craft, while supporting your point of view of what you want to share, and help you craft your set. You get so much valuable time on stage to practice and get feedback as well. You also get to work in both rooms of The Ice House so you get a feel of different stages. It really is a positive and supporting energy throughout. They've helped me see it's possible to stand up comedy, and I'm looking forward to continuing the journey with it now, thanks to Cool Beans! If you've ever thought about trying comedy, even if you feel a bit nervous, just go for it and go through it. Getting to the other side with the support and the community makes the journey worth it.

This was one of the scariest and most rewarding things I've done. The team at cool beans are experts at helping you use your own personal story and style to create an amazing performance. Being able to take the class and practice on the stage at The Ice House is also an amazing feature. I highly recommend it to anyone who is remotely interested. They are the most competent teachers with a welcoming and intuitive style. They care deeply about everyone's experience and success. I enjoyed it so much that I took it a second time. The bonus of being able to have a professionally produced video of your set after is wonderful.

It had been on my heart for months to give stand up comedy a try, and I've had friends telling me for yeaaars to get up there and go for it. I was so nervous, but I told myself that 27 was the year that I was going to make some real change, so what better time to do this then now?! After performing last Sunday, I can confidently say that taking this class was one of the best decisions I've ever made. From Day 1, I felt so welcomed, encouraged, and supported by my fellow classmates and teachers. Each week, Corey, Andrew, and Nicole provided us with such clear feedback that helped my set get better and better with each rewrite. They never once were negative in their notes (for anyone, not just me!) and always made sure their feedback was delivered in such a positive, encouraging tone. Above all, they truly believe in each and every student, and it's evident by the amount of time, effort, and positivity they put into each session (and in the office hours, too!) By the end of the class, I could easily see how my public speaking, stage presence, and overall confidence had increased, and I gained such a greater understanding of comedic timing, brevity, and pacing. I also think all that I've learned will serve me well in my day-to-day work as I present to clients all the time! I'm so thankful I took a chance on myself and I am counting down the days until I can get back on that stage again. Corey & Cool Beans - My medium McDonald's Diet Coke and I thank you for everything!

I've always wanted to do stand up comedy and Cool Beans helped me achieve that goal! Not only did I learn theory on comedy and joke writing strategies, I found my confidence and voice again. Corey, Audrey, and Andrew are amazing coaches who provide efficient feedback, guidance, and encouragement. They helped me transform my vulnerabilities into comedy. For 5 weeks we learn theory and workshop our material. On the 6th week, we showcase the set we've been working on at the legendary Ice House. It was such a thrill and out of my body experience to be up there. Because of Cool Beans, I can see myself continuing on in comedy. Thank you, Cool Beans!!!!

They do a great job of finding out who you are as a person first, then exploring that to reveal what comedy comes most natural to you

It's honestly a shame that the school wasn't willing to take proper care of great instructors who genuinely went above and beyond for students. The few instructors who truly cared about our success -- people who made a real difference -- are no longer with the school. That alone should be a huge red flag about what kind of environment this really is. Worse yet, the school actually dropped a student simply because he was getting real hands-on experience outside of class -- the kind of experience we should have been getting through the school itself. But instead of encouraging that kind of initiative, they punished it. Meanwhile, we were stuck using outdated units and wasting time in so-called "training" that felt more like going through the motions. It's honestly pathetic that the administration would rather students receive fake, useless training than anything that might actually prepare them for the real world. The office staff? Completely disorganized and uninterested in helping students. At one point, someone assigned to assist us with résumés couldn't even spell the word "college" correctly and didn't help us build résumés at all. Several classmates said he included completely inaccurate information on theirs -- which is ridiculous for someone whose job is supposed to be helping students become job-ready. Then there were the pointless assemblies that wasted valuable class time. One of them turned into a three-hour sales pitch from Klein. Another, right before graduation, was hosted by union reps who barely mentioned HVAC at all and instead focused on the electrical program. When I brought this up to the office, their response was to tell me to "chill" -- like I was the problem for wanting my time to be respected. Clearly, they had no clue what those presentations were even about, and even less interest in whether they were relevant to our field. Graduation wasn't any smoother. I had to repeatedly chase the office just to find out when I'd get my certificate, only to be told they were too busy because the school was being audited -- which only raises more red flags. I also had to handle my own financial exit paperwork because no one followed up with me, even though that was their responsibility. As for job placement, the promise of a 95% placement rate turned out to be nonsense. I got a few job leads right before graduation, but none of them matched what I trained for. There's no real system in place to help students get meaningful employment -- just empty promises and marketing tactics to get people through the door. At the end of the day, the instructors were the only redeeming part of this school -- and now they're gone. The people who made the program worth attending were pushed out or left, and what's left behind is a disorganized mess that does a disservice to the students it claims to support. If you're thinking about enrolling, be warned: you're not walking into a program built to help you -- you're walking into a school that's willing to let good teachers walk away and students fall through the cracks.
