    Large order of chicken wings

Good food and good service, tucked away in a hidden spot right ear the train station. Found this place via Yelp and LOVED the food. Grilled not fried chicken (hooray!), local beers, and yummy sweet potato fries and I was set! My wife and I split a large order of salt & pepper & lemon chicken wings and a portion of sweet potato fries each (we don't share when it comes to sweet potato fries!). The flavor on the wings was surprisingly nice, but I wish they had more flavor options for next time. The service was very friendly and accommodating for our large and loud group. I'll definitely be coming back here the next time I'm in Newcastle!

Well balanced chicken. Tender and well grilled. The ratatouille is awesome. The affogato is surprising tasty, with a lot of biscuit bits and a strong coffee to match.

Hummus, sweet potato fries and skinny fries.

I've walked past loads heading to Hippo For a lunchtime butty, but popped in with fellow Yelper Katherine M and was very glad I did. The interior is all reclaimed and upcycled chic with a very modern and attractive feel. Lots of the decor was probably already here. I didn't have room for a full on chicken meal but was sooo tempted by the choices of hot sauce. They included "evil" and "nuclear" so I have to go back. Still hummus, and fries were more than filling for lunchtime :-)

1/2chicken and sweet potato fries. Will be visiting again before my 2weeks are up!!

Walked in & got greeted, sat down ordered a drink (£2 for a regular) the smell of the food was yumm, there's a drinks menu on the table, the waitress brings the food menu, I got Chicken Caesar salad £6.50. I'd maybe go back for something else next time.

Full chicken, sweet potato fries, slaw and sauces.

After reading some of the reviews below, and liking Indian food as much as I do, I decided to try…read morethem out. Nicely furnished waiting room. Architecturally interesting, and there is a nice flat screen tv and magazines for those who are waiting. When I say that this place is good, what I mean to say is that this place is amazing! Purely amazing food. I ordered the chicken tikka, the lamb korai, and peshwari naan (thanks J.B. for her review!). I agree with J.B., the chicken tikka was especially spicy, but it was cooked perfectly. The chicken pieces were bite-size and tender. The lamb was a little less spicy than the chicken, and it was quite tender and flavorful. The meal came with a pint of rice and a garden salad with ranch dressing. That being said, it is enough to feed two or three for dinner. Quite a generous serving, indeed I have leftovers for tomorrow. Read if you have a swipe-version credit card: Unlike J.B., I did have a problem--a customer service problem that arguably may or may not be their fault. I, being an American, have a Visa card with which I attempted to pay. It's an American Visa card, which means that it is a swipe card--sure, that's pretty standard. But in the UK, the credit cards use a different technology (called chip and pin). This place would not accept my card! Let me say it again, they wouldn't accept my Visa Card, accepted anywhere, right!!!! Wrong, they swiped the card, and then they said that they didn't accept American cards. I felt somewhat intrigued and insulted, especially when I saw an old fashion credit card reading machine behind the counter (the mechanical type, where you have to use carbon paper). I still wanted my food, so I found a cash machine (that was just down the block). Though I'm pretty sure what they did was in error and that Visa Corporation would probably have something to say about it, I advice Americans and Canadians: have CASH handy. (Alternatively, you could give this place trouble for not accepting your card! If enough business is lost over it, maybe they might change this policy!) In any case, the food is very extremely good. The only reason this place lost a star was because of their credit card incompatibility issue. I will definitely order from this place again if I want some tasty Indian food.

I kept hearing that this is the best Indian takeaway in all of Newcastle and possibly the North…read moreEast, so last night we gave them a try. Oh my! The food was to die for, or maybe to at least sacrifice a first born for! Our chicken tikka starter was super spicy and incredibly tasty. The Lamb Korai and Chicken Balti we shared were both unbelievably good. Definitely on the hotter side but that's just fine by me. The peshwari naans were really moist and thick and full of goodness. I do not have a single complaint about the food, and I think that Brighton Grove ranks up with the best Indian resturants in Newcastle full-stop, not just against other takeaways. Definitely can't wait to try them again!!

The tables are often covered in litter and half eaten meals and even when the tables are tidy there are often sticky and covered in undetectable substances which make my skin crawl. Another thing that I dislike about this KFC is that it seems to attract allot of unfriendly people and well putting it in its simplest terms "Charvs" that are highly disruptive and loud. I know this is not the staffs fault but it makes the grubby, run down place even more horrendous. Especially when a mother walks in with fifteen kids who were not well behaved and ill mannered. I have even walked out due to such an incidence where a mother could not control her children who were in the process of throwing food at one another. The staff are terrible and more often than not do not fully understand what you are ordering making it impossible to complain if anything is wrong with your meal. They also seem to stand idly by while the place gets worse and worse with no member of staff willing to tidy away what people have left on the table even though they will be paid to do so. I cannot however fault the food itself as KFC has always produced excellent chicken.

Also at this particular branch the tables and general restaurant itself are filthy, with left-over food all over the tables and floor. This is very off putting and I have stopped going to this branch.
