This place was just a block from the hotel, and helped us more than once from blowing our budget on food. Like most European places (and some American ones!), you have to bring a bag or else they charge you for one. They do take credit cards, but they need to see your passport and record your ID number. I tried the self-checkout counters but since it's on in Swedish, I couldn't figure out the part on entering in the ID name/number/etc.
The prices were fair, and while we were in town there was a discount promo on candy so all my souvenirs to my friends back home came from Coop. They also had a sale on fika bread, so that was sometimes my lunch.
The store did have a small buffet section that seemed to charge based on weight, but I didn't try it out. There are also sandwiches in the refrigerated section (both veggie and meat options), so you can take something to go if you're on one of those long boat rides around town. read more
