Having such a large and comprehensive grocery store just few minutes from my house, is a luxury…read moreboth when I'm on my way home from the office and on those lazy Saturdays when you actually had no plan of leaving the house. Rema 1000 doesn't offer a serviced counter for fresh meat, fish, cheeses etc., but over the years they have expanded their selection of those kind of products from refrigerators and their franchise on Nattland holds most of what I need for everyday cooking. The staff is also helpful and smiling, a service that is not given in Norway. The owner lives in the neighborhood and you can tell he takes pride in his shop. Prices are on the regular Rema level, and the chain seem to win every competition when it comes to comparison with other grocery chains, and when they're not standing back on quality, this is my everyday store.

This was my first experience with a grocery store bread slicer! I am very sure this would never be allowed in the USA because someone would slice off their finger and sue the store and bankrupt them, but in Norway people are good with this and can slice a whole loaf of bread in one slice! Genius. No wonder these are the happiest people in the world! *closed Sundays. (otherwise very convenient hours!) *try to bring your own bags! Save the planet! It's the Norwegian way.
