Unlike a lot of the other Migros, this one not only has the self check out machines, but also the scanner so you can see exactly what you've bought, how much you are spending, and how much you are saving while you shop. Then just return the scanner and pay at a kiosk. So efficient and convenient. Light years ahead of the rest of them! Another reason why Kreis 5 is the best place to live in Zürich.

Coop is a big retailer in Switzerland where you can buy a variety of things. They have huge aisles just for chocolates. Different Swiss brands, lots of different kinds and sizes, and some European brands as well. It can get pretty overwhelming when you have a tiny grocery basket. I picked up some Ovomaltine, Freya, Cailler, coop store brand chocolates (the dark truffles were divine), and Munz. They have self checkout kiosks so you can scan, bag, pay, and go on with your day.

A plus is that this is located directly across the street from my favorite Chinese/Asian supermarket in town, Lian Hua (at Berninaplatz) and next to the Migration Bureau. The bonuses of this store include: - Carries Nespresso capsules, quite convenient when you don't want to stop by the regular store on Saturdays (like a zoo). Downside: they don't carry decaf and there is no free tasting. - A bigger than usual Zurich city variety of various goods. Like large variety of party goods (cups, disposable utensils, etc) and office supplies. Lots of discounted "packages" of goods like laundry detergent, etc, available here. Also sells one off stuff like portable grills, BBQ sets, etc that are cheap and cheery (I don't use these as I use brand name BBQ utensils for my home). - Not extremely overcrowded. - A separate Tchibo section for those who care (I don't). - Reasonably priced items.
