When I came home with my delightful little four pack of Yum Yums I did not expect for my housemate to guess exactly where they came from. Earlier today I had gone for a bit of a browse and a nosy along street lane and spotted the Cooplands bakery. I didn't *need* anything, per se, but found myself wandering in nonetheless. I considered purchasing a pasty for lunch and then resisted, deciding to go for a Yum Yum and enjoying it with a cup of Yorkshire when I got home.
Given that they were only 30p or so each the chap serving suggested I take four for 99p instead. I faltered, and then said "Why not, I've two house mates and a boyfriend who might enjoy one too!" Feeling oh-so-generous I handed over my shiny pound and took away my prize. I got home and made a cup of Yorkshire's finest and enjoyed the most deliciously bad, sugary melty bit of pastry ever. Yum yum indeed. My housemates came home and I offered the Yum Yums, at which point she immediately said, "Have you been to Cooplands?"
I assumed every bakery made these, but now I wonder, are they particularly famous at Cooplands? They should be. It was amazing. And the worst/best bit? There are still three left, on the table, in the kitchen. Calling to me. Calling softly, "Eat me! I'm so YUM YUMS!"
If they're still there by tomorrow, well, they won't be. That's for damn sure. read more
