We came here on a Saturday at 8pm, so we expected the wait to be long. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we only had to wait for about 25 minutes before we were seated. They are definitely very efficient when it comes to getting people seated. Our server was Donna, who was a sweetheart. She was highly attentive, gave us great suggestions, and made sure we our drinks were refilled before we needed them to be. She was also funny and entertaining. Now food. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms & spinach dip for apps. The stuffed mushrooms were okay, but the bow tie "chips" that came with the spinach dip were the star of the show. They are basically fried bow tie noodles, and topped with cheese. Amazing! For entrees, we ordered the Crab Cakes & Shrimp Alfredo, Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée, Fried Chicken, and Steak Frites. The location and inside was designed very nice. With the open floor plan it definitely has an inviting feel. Sitting in the bar high tops was comfortable. The Alfredo pasta was very delicious! The bar tender was my waitress who didn't have much spunk or personality but she did tend to my needs, so that was a plus. The Chicken egg rolls were great and the fries were the best! Landed her on a Friday night for a birthday party. We had a private back room for about 15-20 people and food was served buffet style. we ordered a couple of drinks while waiting on the room to be set-up and two drinks cost $30 bucks. A little pricey for the amount given so I just know not to order a drink next time lol. The server was a new server however he was kind, patience and accommodating. Having gone to law school in Louisiana, I must say that New Orleans style cuisine/restaurants have a special place in my heart. My love, a coworker, and I dropped in for lunch. We were met with a smile from the hostess and an even bigger smile from our waitress. The food was fantastic! I had the chargrilled oysters, and the Cajun gumbo ya ya! My love had the Cajun gumbo ya ya as well and my co-worker had red beans and rice. I had originally ordered the corn and crab bisque. Our server rang in two Cajun gumbo ya ya's by accident. I wouldn't dare send back such deliciousness!!! If one must make a mistake, make it good! I was not mad at our server. We were like "oh lord we're going to fall asleep at our desks." Although the server was nice, the manager did not care at all about the poor experience or the quality/taste of the cold food. We weren't even requesting free food but some sort of accommodation b/c not one person at our table ate even half of a plate but of course they received $50 a person regardless. So this place gets two stars because of how good the spinach dip was. We were in the back room and there were 3 waiters. All extremely humble, attentive and had great personality. We sat down and it seemed so promising. It took 20+ minutes to get the first round of drinks and the appetizer came out first ( the must have, bomb.com spinach dip). When the drinks arrived they weren't correct and the waiter caught it before they hit the table, but they made it to the table. The food came out, and the steak my friend received was well done and she asked for medium and it was so well done that the sauce on it became an over cooked gravy... my pasta looked great! They originally had a lemon based sauce on my pasta, but I changed it to Alfredo sauce. It looked great, but the meat was salty... It was blackened, but salty. I also could hear the table next to me, saying that whatever she received was salty as well so apparently it wasn't just me when my friend's Steak came out the correct temperature, It had a hair in it, which was especially funny considering my friend has a low cut. I always look forward to the food at Copeland, but everything was just off this go around. I am not going to Dead the restaurant as a whole, but there was definitely room for improvement this visit. read more

Copelands never disappoints. Decided to drop in for a quick lunch that turned into an outing lol. The sunrise mimosas are a HIT. The service was amazing and on point. I initially went for the penthouse salad which I describe as one of the best salads I have ever had in my life. It is so fresh and filling. What started as just a salad turned into crab claws OMG I highly recommend them. Sunrise mimosas, and the steak labouchere. The service was less than mediocre, the bartender could not make a simple drink, the waitress knew nothing about drinks so she relayed it incorrectly to the bartender. The food was less than average. I also can't think of one restaurant where I have several favorite dishes from their menu. It's usually just 1 or 2 dishes that you love from a restaurant. I am also a Lagniappe member. Been going to Copeland's for a few years, they switched up the menu a bit, everything was still pretty good, the jambalaya pasta, and Decatur catfish was delicious, our service was thebest service that I had in anywhere in a long time. Our server Isaiah, was very attentive, so kind, and really gave me and my family a pleasant visit with his bubbly personality. Made us feel like we were welcome and at home. This was a good visit! We went on 2/27/21 at 11AM when they first opened. We're we're immediately seated. They were not doing the brunch buffet due to the pandemic but they did serve brunch À la cart. Our waitress Donna did a great job and explaining the menu and she provided great service. I got the shrimp & grits! The flavor was very good but the shrimp weren't cleaned properly and had the poop vein still in them. Other people at my table ordered the biscuit and gravy w/a side of potatoes -but substituted the sausage gravy for the crawfish gravy & the other got a build your own omelet with cheese and bacon! They were enjoyed their meals. We also got the bottle of mimosas for $28! Again Donna provided great service and the visit was great. We left super happy and not disappointed! Hot Crab Claws comes with fresh Louisiana Blue Crab claws, olive oil vinaigrette, garlic, St. Charles croutons ($16.99). We added some shrimp ($4.99 I think) to the dish and it was super delicious! We also ordered the Chargrilled Oysters which came with garlic butter, parmesan cheese, herb mix 1/2 Dozen ($12.99). We were disappointed in this dish. The oyster ingredients lacked one important item, plain salt. It also needed more seasoning. We found it very bland so we were disappointed in that. Stopped by this afternoon to satisfy our seafood craving. We were looking for blue crab claws, and the ones here were delicious. We had the claws and added shrimp, and we loved it. I was told that due to Covid-19 the buffet would not be available, so everything was a la cart, which was fine. We arrived around 12n & it was busy, yet no crowd or wait. Good news for a Sunday brunch. We were seated & greeted by our server, water & drinks were ordered, yet before my son-in-law could order his drink, our server walked off & went to another table she was serving... I thought wow that's odd, yet ok she will be back. 10 min later nothing. This was not a good sign. A young man finally brought us water & I asked for lemon wedges... he said he would be rt back with them & never returned ‍. Ok so I figured he told our waitress & she would bring them over... nothing. They brought me & my daughter our drinks, I had the Mardi Gras punch & my daughter ordered the sangria. My drink was great, sangria not so much ‍. They still didn't come back to take my son-in-laws drink order & we were ready to order food. Level of disappointment was rising, waited 10min for waitress to take our order. I ordered the waffle plate w/potatoes & bacon w/a side of scrambled eggs soft. My daughter ordered French Toast with cheesy grits & bacon. My son-in-law was going to order a make your own omelette & the waitress said she has to get a paper where he could select his omelet... after 5 min she didn't come back. I had to hail another waitress to get the dang paper!! I was fully irritated by this & he didn't get to order his drink either After about 15-20 min we finally get our order & I mentioned the lemon wedges again, still nothing. The food was ok, nothing spectacular & we were all less than pleased with the service. I caught our waitress after she bypassed us to head to another table that was just seated & asked to put in an order for the white chocolate bread pudding to go. We asked for the bill & had already waited 10 min for the bread pudding, still nothing. After another 15 min of waiting & asking how much longer, the waitress brings a to go plate in a black bag. She did apologize for the wait & we left her a tip, even tho her service was sub par. I wish I would've checked the bag before I left, yet we were so ready to leave as soon as she brought the bread pudding, we left. Well, when I opened the bag in the car to see what I waited over 20 min for I was sadly disappointed... it was a small near frozen slice of what looked more like a sad cinnamon bun!! I was too done. I thought they were baking my bread pudding & this crap was what I got. Never again. I hate when I pay for something & it's nothing close to what I expected.
