Please do your research before you move here. This place is the most poorly managed place I lived. When I first moved in the place was filthy from past tenants and instead of fixing it they through the damages and everything onto the next. I even called maintenance to fix my toilet they sent me the a notification that is was fixed and it never was. They do this while also being very predatory towards tenants asking to sign new housing agreements not to far after you JUST move in. They know most of their residents are students with very little options and time to make these decision within there time, but that will not stop them from rising rent. Risen rent with nothing done to the interior of the house. Instead they will make changes like painted the patio which in my opinion doesn't justify a monthly increase. The maintenance of the amenities aren't up to par either. I appreciate and grate for them having a gym, but equipment will be broken for months and things like water filter, fountain, and equipment aren't change or cleaned regularly. On a personal level things were made very unclear to me and sneaky. The deposit was held and used for insane cleaning fees with even though in my contract it was supposed to be deferred until the end of my lease. Which I tried to call the office about, but they aren't much help and will tell you to talk to a higher up that is never going to respond. I sent an email in April for an explanation for everything. I've been at copper beech (bowling green) for 2 years. Here is my experience. Their corporate management is abysmal. The representatives are very rude and dismissive. I called pest control for a roach infestation and they had to send out a "representative" to my unit and now I am being threatened to be charged because my unit is "not meeting the cleanliness standards" they mysteriously set for their units. This is after coming back from a week vacation and finding my back door to my unit **LEFT OPEN**. When I told the rep that forced himself into my personal room without consent he literally argued back and said "they wouldn't do that". Someone from management came through and literally didn't close the back door which let in roaches to my garbage can and then they spread to my ENTIRE unit. Terrible awful company, this is my last year here and I am never looking back. They are literally so bad, it's so confusing and frustrating how could a company like this even exist. Horrible and invasive management, poor amenities, poor living conditions, and our unit is basically falling apart with cracks in multiple walls that they will not fix. Don't forget if you call pest control they will force themselves into your personal room and space without consent and go through your personal stuff "to find bugs". Tried to contact management to deal with a roommate conflict and they said I "threatened and bullied my roommates" with absolutely no context to what actually happened. They do not care. The upstairs units are like a sauna and the basement units are extremely cold. Also the floors have basically no soundproofing at all. If you get put into a basement unit (which you might not have any choice) you will be woken up at 6:00 am by your roommates going to work, class etc. Its so loud their footsteps sound like someone taking a hammer to my wall. The conditions are unlivable here. My quality of life is so bad I am considering breaking my lease agreement just to leave. It's that bad. AVOID COPPER BEECH AT ALL COSTS. THEY ARE DELETING MY COMMENT: SOMEONE ALMOST GOT ROBBED. Y'all terrible! This is a terrible place to live. The staff is inexperienced and unprofessional. Words can't even describe the experience I had with this property. There were shootings on the premises, so the place isn't safe. When we first moved in to the unit, it wasn't clean. When asked if the property manager could help she said she couldn't and told us that the roommates had to clean the downstairs. The kitchen was not cleaned either we tried to ask if property manager could help with the kitchen she said they weren't responsible for the kitchen only the rooms. My friend moved back into the apartment and the downstairs still isn't cleaned! I really hope someone sues them. There is a such thing as renters law, search it up, Brooklynn! Roommates: As for the roommates the property manager told us that they had previous problems with the roommates they moved us in with and decided to still put us in the unit. We said no dogs on our paper and they put us with dogs anyway. If you knew about the roommates then why even put us in a situation like that? Property Manager: We asked the manager to help us multiple times. We shouldn't have to beg her to help us out. Customers should be your main priority. As for the shooting, yes, there were two incidents were shoots were fired on campus. I lived in one of the houses were shoots were fired (when a person was shoot). A parent was informed on this incident and when she talked to the property manager about finding a new place for us to stay her answer was "no". Then eventually we got set in a motel for two days. If we ain't say nothing she would've just kept us there smh. I even sent the property manager a text over a question I had and she answered negatively and rudely. Then when I called the staff I asked questions and they said that I "harassed" them. It's like they can't handle me asking them questions. Maintenance: There maintenance is the best. They have really good maintenance. I put in a work order and maintenance came the next day and fixed my sink. That's the only good thing about this place. Clearly, if you don't like people asking questions then why are you even working here? It's clear you don't like your jobs and you don't care about the students at all you only want the money. If I could give zero stars I would. The only way you could help me is by finding a new property manager someone older, mature, and actually cares about the students. Or someone that isn't easily "intimidated" by questioning. Overall, I will not be renewing my lease with them and leaving Copper Beech. Afterwards, I didn't receive a deposit back! If you have problems with BROOKLYNN then talk to Derek Germann at assets living! Derek Germann is her boss and corporate. After the situation, BROOKLYNN came in my messages and was disrespecting me. Just horrible. Horrible maintenance, who rude to female tenants, and were dismissive about maintenance requests, like when the washer would overflow and they would tell us it was normal for it to do (it is not). Too be honest, my review would've been like 3 stars up until move out, because even with that it was still an okay place to live, but the move out process is just awful. They WILL try to charge you as much as possible, for things that didn't require repair or cleaning. They will nickel and dime you for normal wear and tear, even though it is listed in the lease that they wouldnt. Cooper Beech will make it as hard as possible to get into contact with somebody about this, they will ignore your calls, your voicemails, and your emails. To be quite honest, the only Copper Beech employee that was helpful was Remi, the AI robot service, because it was the only employee to actually respond to me when I had questions, Even when they did respond, it would be days, sometime longer, and it would often be an automated message that didn't respond to the actual content in my email. I actually can't believe that this place operates in this manner, it's completely unprofessional and goes beyond what I would even except a company with such horrible ratings would do. Do yourself a favor, do not live here. You will be yelled at, ignored, and at the end, they will try and suck as much money as they possibly can out of you and just hope you are okay with it. FYI all the reviews by Daniel McBride are fake, he is one of the general managers at copper beech and also The Scion Group and is putting five star reviews to boost their yelp score. I lived at Copper Beech for two years, and my main complaint is regarding management. I moved out a few weeks ago, and I recently got my statement for charges. I felt that my bedroom was left in a better condition than I found it, yet I still got over $150 in damage charges. The itemized bill stated that I left trash behind and damaged the paint. I guarantee you that no trash was left behind, and any paint damages were there when I arrived. I was unable to dispute the charges because management said they would apply the "illegal bedspace fee" (my roommate and I swapped bedrooms) if I tried to appeal. The fee would've been $400. Long story short, the management here is criminal. I've had friends at Copper who've experienced similar events, so this isn't a one time occurrence. This CAN happen to you. If you are on the fence about living at Copper Beech, I hope I've said enough to deter you. Nobody deserves to be treated the way Copper Beech treats their tenants. read more

If you can find somewhere else to live in BG other than Copper Beech, I highly recommend it. They told my daughter and I and another parent that the reason the first month's rent was for a full month cost was because they put any extra towards the final month rent (July). This is NOT true. They will charge you a full month's rent for 10 days of living in their apartments during August and then also charge you a full month's rent in July. They will tell you it is an "installment" payment not a month's rental. They do not fix things in a timely manner, enter your apartment for inspections without prior notice other than a generic email. The units are not insulated properly per the electric company, and you can expect to pay $300+ in the winter months. The management office is very unhelpful and the girls working in the office often give misinformation. When you try to call and speak to a manager, they are unhelpful and rude. Daniel McBride was not helpful, blamed any complaints about their apartments on the tenants and was generally unpleasant. If you want to pay way more than an apartment is worth and get very little for that fee, then copper beech is the place for you. Otherwise, I would recommend going anywhere but here. read more

I have lived at Copper Beech for 2 years. Maintenance recent entered my apartment to replace the upstairs units carpet. I came home to my entire living room flooding at 1:15am. I called the sherrifs department at 1:20am. They gave me the city water emergency number. They said they couldn't do anything because Copper Beech isn't their jurisdiction. I called CB at 1:22am. The on-call maintenance will not answer the phone. I called the number 4 times and the guy says the CB maintenance team for BG is not responding. My basement bathroom is now flooding from 2 stories up all because the maintenance guys who replaced the carpet a couple days ago must have used the toilet and clogged it or something. It's been over 4 hours and it's still just flooding. Of course the office is closed on the weekends. I'm just about to call the sheriff and see if they can do anything. Total disaster. Apartment was disgusting upon move in. Place was never cleaned, including thick kitchen grease all over cabinets from previous tenants, soiled carpets, and filthy bathrooms. It was appalling. Other issues upon move in included missing light bulbs (interior and exterior), and a broken rear door lock that despite regular requests for repair, was never addressed during the year there. Adding insult to injury, despite leaving the unit in much better condition than move in, security deposits were not returned. Never pursued because was just thrilled to be out of there. Update (2018) - Manager sent message via Yelp to contact him so that they could look into non return of security deposit. No surprise, but after having called many times over the past months and speaking with people who took my name and phone number, my calls have never been returned. Shocker. Copper Beech Townhomes can be considered the most plush student living in Bowling Green. Copper Beech offers one, two, three, and four bedroom town houses. The town houses include a very spacious living room and full kitchen. In addition very nice sized bedrooms with a large amount of storage and closet space, and private bathrooms. The town homes also include a half bath on the main floor. Other amenities that Copper Beech offers is a shuttle service to and from campus and occasionally a weekend shuttle to downtown Bowling Green, and a clubhouse with a nice sized gym and a rec room. I moved into the complex back in August of 2010. I was rather impressed with everything and thought I had made a great choice. I live in a three bedroom town house, so it includes 3 floors with kitchen, living room, rec room, 3 bedrooms, and 3 1/2 baths, and washer/dryer unit. It is a really great set-up, but it does come with a price tag on it. Rent for a three bedroom place a month is $350 dollars a person. This also includes your cable and internet. So residents have to pay electric each month and water once every three months. My complaints about Copper Beech aren't with the apartment itself, it is with the leasing office. I still have not received a water bill since I moved in because of a screw up with our meter. The leasing office said in December/January that they had it figured out, however I still have not received one. My only other complaint is maintenance. It takes the maintenance staff weeks to do simple tasks. I don't know if it is an internal problem, but I still have things wrong that I reported to be fixed when I moved in last August. However, there is a lot of good in Copper Beech. I have so much space and feel like I am living in a house and not a crammed apartment. My roommates and I have plenty of space to be around each other, and have alone time and spend time alone or doing school work. I have renewed my lease for next year, so I must have liked it enough to want to live there again. If you are looking for a nice place to live in BG as a student, Copper Beech is the place to go. read more

This place looks nice on the surface, but once they have your business, they think they have the legal right to violate your 4th Amendment Law. They think they have the right to your apartment whenever they choose. They are NOT above state law, they need to provide 24 hours notice! They will continue to violate that if you let them. They will also charge you for things that you are not your doing and will use retaliatory eviction threats which is ILLEGAL to get you to pay. The office staff is terrible, they pretend to take your maintenance request and then weeks go by and still nothing. I have yet to use the gym. I am told that their fingerprint reader only holds so many profiles and doesn't support the amount of residence they have, so the office states to use the gym when their office is open. How is that a 24/7 access gym? And why Don't take a furnished apartment, they'll give you a mattress with body fluid stains on it but try and hide that from you and take no action to replace it once discovered and reported. Do yourself a favor and stay away. I can't wait until my lease is up so I can say goodbye to these Nazis for good with just one finger in the air! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would, I have over 20 pictures of things that need repair immediately (not damage from us). We called 5 times to report our first floor bathroom ceiling falling Due to water leaking from the A/C. None of our calls were returned nor was the ceiling repaired. Our washer broke. Took maintenance 4 days to come fix it. Dishwasher broke Over 3 months ago and still no repair. Carpet is coming up. Our back door had major leaking issues and we had a nasty storm last year causing rain water to leak in under the door and flood our closet and bathroom and part of the kitchen so naturally I put towels down to stop the leaking and cleaned up the water. Office said since there wasn't photographic proof of water that they wouldn't fix it. last year during the heat wave our A/C broke and conveniently every maintenance guy was on vacation so we had to sleep in the apartment that was ready 90 degrees inside. Shitty excuse of an apartment complex. Don't waste your money here. Also if you have rude neighbors like we did don't waste your breath on talking to the office. We did 5 times and nothing was done. we called the emergency maintenance line due to our heater being stuck on making it over 80 degrees inside at the end of summer last year...we were told the maintenance couldn't come because they were "celebrating" the new year. No...they were drunk and couldn't do their damn job! And if you end up renting apartment 22 L specifically don't waste your money trying to hear the damn place. We wasted hundreds of dollars heating the outside because our windows aren't sealed properly and let in a major draft. Stand 3 feet away from a fan set on low...that's the draft you will feel at every window. Oh ya, and lastly if you want to have private conversations...you have to whisper. Everyone can here you talking from inside your apartment and you can hear conversations that are being held on the sidewalk if you're sitting in your bedroom on the 3rd floor. Complete disaster in the office. The manager and his crew need wiped out and started fresh. They are all rude and inconsiderate, which stems from the top. From the moment we got there I knew it was going to be a disaster. They didn't clean the carpet or the apartment from the previous tenants. Cat stains and cigarette burns on the carpet as well as mud and dirt. The blinds were damaged, there was mildew in the bathrooms, and towel holders half hanging. The cabinets were missing pieces and our washer didn't work. Management said it was a "luxury" to have a washer in the unit, which is wrong because it clearly states in our contract that we have a washer in unit. Getting things repaired or fixed here was a joke. We had a mouse infestion for over a year and they refused to fix the gaping holes in our doorways to which the mice came in from (I literally saw one come through the hole!). The "fitness center" is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Treadmills have been broken for going on 2 years with no attempt to fix them. The bikes are trashed and the ellipticals on their way. The cable machines are splitting and metal cut through, just waiting to snap in someones face. They want us to clean up after ourselves but do not provide any cleaning supplies either. Overall, it is quite a disappointment and I regret staying here as long as I did. Our $200 "community fee" is probably pocketed by the manager because I haven't seen one good thing done to the place. I'd be embarassed if I was the manager or the owner of this company because it can be ran a lot better. I know because I lived in a Copper Beech in Mount Pleasant, MI and it was ran ten times better. read more

DO NOT LEASE FROM COPPER BEECH!!! Not only do they not fulfill ANY maintenance requests, they will charge you for every penny you have - even when it was their fault. We've had late fees because their office workers are uninformed and thus, misinform the tenants. The noise is awful, I've called copper beech management multiple times over the past two years, and the cops as well. Still has not improved. Over the summer our grass (complex wide) was mowed TWICE. The weeds are out of control, and actually resulted in a pumpkin on our back porch from being unkept for so long. There is no security whatsoever, they even tell you after 6pm it's no longer they're problem and to call the police. The outdoor lighting isn't even working half the time either. On to the gym - or lack of a gym. We pay an activity fee for gym access but for the past, about 8-10 months, two of the three treadmills have been out of order, and sometimes the third will decide not to work as well. There are three weight machines, only two work. One of the two bikes work, and I'm pretty sure all 3 elliptical machines work. Last winter, I was stuck in my apartment for 3 days from snow and had to call off work because they refused to plow our complex. I could go on and on. I really cannot stress enough how poor these apartments are, and how strongly I suggest you don't rent from them. There are so many issues within the actual apartments themselves as well. Two years ago upon move in we were told that our floor would be replaced in the first week, now fast forward and it's still being held together by scotch tape. I've had my door jam completely rotted and falling off, railings falling out of the walls, water damage under sinks, and in the ceiling from the AC unit. They told us in the THREE WEEKS it took for them to stop by, to turn our AC off so it would stop leaking, it then reached 86 degrees inside our apartment because it was the middle of August. We've moved in and had no bedroom door, locks not locking properly, and holes in our walls. I cannot stress enough that it is not worth it to live at Copper Beech. read more

Terrible customer service. It was 165$ to take over somebody else's lease. I paid the money and then called two days later (before signing any paperwork whatsoever) to cancel and receive my money back. It took them TWO months and several phone calls to send me my money back. When I finally receive it they took out a 40$ 'cancellation fee'. I called and they were very rude and would not listen to my explanation that I had never signed any paperwork and was told I would receive a full refund. What an awful first experience. read more

-Do not live here- I rented at this apartment my last year of college. I was talked into signing under a joint lease by the office staff, which I regretted later on. My parents were also required to co-sign on my apartment in order for myself and my roommates to rent. On our first night in the apartment, water started leaking through our kitchen ceiling. Upon inspection, the air conditioning pipe was completely broken and pouring water. We requested maintenance ASAP, but they didn't show up for two days. After that, I thought things were getting better, but then northwest ohio winter hit. The parking lot was rarely plowed and turned into a sheet of ice for at least two months. This passed winter was very cold and our drafty, cheaply built town home was so horribly cold that we had ice forming on the inside of our windows. Yes, we had the heat turned up, but that didn't stop it. It got so cold in my apartment, I moved out during the late winter months because I couldn't handle it. Moving out was very smooth and it seemed that everything ended well. I was shocked my roommates and I didn't owe any money after the horror stories I had heard. Then 6 months after my lease ended, my parents received a letter from a collections agency stating that I owed CB over $1,000 dollars. I went to the office and found that they incorrectly charged me an extra months rent, after we had been told our security deposit covered the cost of cleaning and damages. When I tried to work the issue out with the property manager, he was very rude and unhelpful. Overall, I do not recommend renting these apartments. read more
