Right when you walk in the front door it is obvious that it is not well-managed. It is Incredibly dirty and even the outdoor patio has an unpleasant smell to it. The staff is nice, though. We were having a good time until the security guard grabbed my forearm from behind me and yanked me 2 feet. I was scared for my life for a few seconds while I was trying to figure out what was happening. He ended up explaining that drinks couldn't be in that area which didn't make sense because we were still on the bar property but we followed the rules and threw our drinks away. The waitress finally shows up with a margarita that is half foam and half ice. She gives an excuse that the blender was acting up. The bouncer outside the piano bar grabbed my friend by her arm and gave her a panic attack. There are some bars you can walk outside with your drinks and apparently some that you can't. Don't let the outside fool you, this is a great place to grab a bite with an awesome and friendly staff that works hard and provides impeccable service. The Host was the very sweet and friendly Noah, who greeted us warmly. Our server Stephanie provided us with outstanding service. The food selection is large, there is something for everyone. This is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. We ordered several drinks, then ordered some food. The people at the two tables next to us finished their meals and left. Then both tables filled up and they both ordered and got their food. We still had no food. Then both tables finished their food and left. Still we had no food. We had ordered a beyond burger and a plate of the local perch. We had been sitting there for nearly two hours. I asked for a manager. Eventually a very rude young woman appeared and made excuses like backed up kitchen, understaffed etc. none of which explained why everyone else around us got their food. When I asked the manager to just take some responsibility and admit to the mismanagement, she said there was no mismanagement and said they would not bring out our food and told us to leave. There is no excuse for this kind of rudeness and mismanagement. I certainly don't recommend this sorry establishment to anyone. And the food didn't look that good. read more

Coral Gables used to be this happening hot spot. But the last couple visits have been less than pleasant. The building is looking run down, it was dirty especially the bathrooms, the outside patio could really use some help - the tables had been painted and is now chipping leaving paint chips all over your hands and clothes. But the service was so terrible!! We sat outside and got a young lady server quickly who brought us drinks in small plastic disposable cups, returned about 35 minutes later we ordered another round and asked for menus. We got our drinks and menu waited more than an hour without seeing a server. A new server came out cleared off a few tables made eye contact with our table but never came back out. However, we ordered perch sandwiches this time and were served the poorest excuse of a fish sandwich I've ever had. 4 skinny fingerlings of fish in a taseteless batter surrounded by a large bun. This is an old school joint. The decor and setting are like walking back in time. The menu is ample, but not overwhelming. I had the meat lovers type pizza. I probably enjoy this spot for the music and waterfront view rather than the food, which is pretty average. The service is good and usually friendly. Pretty view for lunch outside. Service was good. However, the menu was fairly limited and pretty pricey for what we got. My boyfriend and I got the impossible burgers, which were okay, nothing special. The sweet potato fries were decent but could have been crisped/fried a few minutes longer. My daughter got the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and it was watery and did not come with any sides. Our bill was 54 bucks. My advice? This was our first time at Coral Gables and it was incredible! We had a party of 8, and they seated us quickly. Other places we tried had over an hour wait. I'm so thankful we passed on those places. Coral Gables hit the spot. We were able to sit outside and view the water during our lunch. Our server, Amy was super friendly and helpful. She suggested trying the chicken sandwich special, and I'm glad I took her suggestion! I'm actually disappointed it's a special, I would eat it daily. Had a group of 20 from boating and went to a competing restaurant and were told that we would need to split in 5 separate groups and wait 1.5 hours. We checked out Coral Gables and met Amy who immediately welcomed us and said they were busy but would love to host our group. They immediately setup tables and treated us with professionalism despite the full restaurant. The food was delicious with service that was above and beyond. There's a theme of disappointing dining experiences in Saugatuck emerging with me this year, and unfortunately what will likely be my last dinner there of the summer season did nothing to change it. Our first choice was Marro's, but since it was early and they weren't open yet we decided to eat here instead. The decor was not far from the original 1950's-era construction, updated sometime in the 1970's, which was also probably the last time the carpet was cleaned. Furniture was cheap, uncomfortable, and the tables appeared haphazardly placed. Upon entry, the hostess (who looked to be about fifteen) informed me that there'd be a 30 - 40 minute wait for the patio, but she couldn't estimate the wait for an inside table because "all the waitresses were running around" (they looked to be of high school age as well). Against my better judgement, my party of four decided to wait at the bar-- where we were served by a fellow who looked like he might have just finished participating in a Hell's Angels motorcycle trek across the South. Not long after being served our drinks, we were paged to the hostess station to be seated. Our waitress was nice enough, but this job clearly wasn't her calling. We ordered a "blooming onion" appetizer first, which was greasy, poorly-seasoned, and uninspired. Our food took at least 40 minutes to arrive, and we watched helplessly as the waitress walked past our table and almost across the entire length of the restaurant to retrieve a serving stand for the tray containing four meals, all of which she had to do by herself. Amazing nothing was lost in the process. Sometimes you can tell how the food will taste by the kind of plates it's served on. Our meals were presented on cheap, unmatched plates that looked like they came from the cafeteria in the same high school that the hostess and wait staff spent their weekdays. My spaghetti was horrible: bland, overcooked. The pasty noodles kept the watery sauce company in shared misery. At least the mushrooms were fresh (although some at my table disputed this-- and perhaps they were canned after all, and just seemed fresh compared to the crappy pasta). I almost forgot: My meal was advertised as including rolls and butter, but neither was presented until I reminded the waitress-- and then they didn't arrive until the meal was over. Always a sucker for a warm roll and sweet creamery butter, I looked forward to trying one anyway. I shouldn't have bothered: It was as bad as everything else. I would not have been surprised if they had been picked up from the local Aldi a week before. I didn't taste any of the food the other members of my party ordered, but I think it's safe to say no one from the group will ever return. The Blue Moon in nearby Douglas Michigan was one of my favorite restaurants of all time, and unfortunately has gone out of business and is now a bank-sale special at $1.2 million. I am tempted to raise the down payment and buy the place myself if only to show Coral Gables how a dining experience should be. Any other victims of this place want to join me? read more

One of the most comical, yet insane dining experiences I have ever participated in. The restaurant sat our party of 12 about 30 minutes before the kitchen was supposed to close. The server had clearly had a long day, but the way she treated our group of 12 was completely surreal. When asked if they had anything local on the menu, she said, "there's nothing local about this place." Ok? We rush to make our food/beverage choices while she continues to have an attitude throughout every interaction, but that wasn't even the worst part. She went on to say, "you guys suck... your whole group is a mess." Huh? We were sitting, talking and sipping our drinks while waiting for our meal...I don't know how that makes people a mess. I'm sure a party of 12 can be a little loud, but we were one of three groups on a large outdoor patio with a band playing close by. After those statements, I was worried to even eat my food for fear that she had done something to it. Yuck. My food was the last to arrive. Chicken fingers and a side salad. I ate one chicken finger and couldn't bring myself to finish the rest. I have worked in the service industry. I completely understand being exhausted and irritable at the end of a long day during a holiday weekend, but this server was another level. I really think she may have reached her tipping point.... And clearly went over the edge... Won't be coming back here. Plenty of LOCAL Saugatuck businesses that I would rather support. The manager did apologize. read more

Customer service was horrible! I went with 5 other people and at the time we went it was not busy. Upon entering our waitress gave us a smug look and waited before even acknowledging that we were there. She was rude when taking our order and had no sense of urgency as far as serving us. My boyfriend ordered a pop, which she never brought until we asked for it, twice. When my food came, Buffalo sauce came with it, which I did not order and when I told her I didn't order it, she rudely took it off my plate. She was friendly and talkative to other tables near us so I am going to guess she doesn't like serving to big groups? Either way, I am very turned off by their service BUT my dish I ordered was delicious which is the ONLY reason why they get 2 stars. This place is probably my least favorite restaurant/bar in Saugatuck but somehow I get drug here every so often. Service is never stellar. I get it's a big place with lots of tables but even when its dead I feel forgotten. Food is blah. Typical bar type food in my opinion. This place has gone down hill. Rude service. No one smiles. Outdated. Looks like you're attending a funeral. The bar section is dead. Servers look too be in shorts that are way too small for them, and some are just annoying and won't really help you or check back on you. You have to wave them down. The food went down also. It's not worth it. It's mush and starting to taste like it was microwaves and pre-cooked. As a kid I used to come here and I remember everything was fresh and homemade. The place would be packed and now it's a gross mess. They haven't updated anything since the 80s. The patio and location is the only thing keeping this place afloat. Let me add they told us we weren't allowed to bring a stroller on the balcony for our daughter. But then two strollers were allowed to go out there after we arrived. While wondering Saugatuck on Venetian night and checking out all the art stands, my family and I decided we should grab a drink on the water because it was a beautiful night. Pros: -A huge outdoor seating area located on the water and near the boardwalk. -Lots of fun people and a fun environment for drinking and socializing. -Being able to have a cocktail and stand on the sidewalk if all the tables are full. -Cheap drinks. Cons: -Rude bartenders and crappy service. -Only one size, super small, beers and drinks. -Not a wide variety of alcohol. Obviously the pros are all directly related to a cool place to sit and a cheap place to get drunk. That doesn't sound too bad huh?? Well, the problem was the shitty service and rude bartenders. That can make a good time into a bad time, quick! I went to buy my grandma and aunt drinks at the bar and the bartender rudely told me she had to see all of their ideas. Granted, I understand the law, I've bartended and am currently a server, but they all look well over 40. Not to mention, my grandma can't walk too well and I was not about to make her get up and walk into the bar. After I argued with her for a few minutes she finally gave me the drinks.. which were mediocre at best. I didn't eat here so I can't rate on that, but I'd assume just from the interior of the place that it would be OK at best. To keep this short and simple, it's awesome if you can get a table on the patio and drink.. because you won't spend a lot of money.. hopefully you'll have better service than I did. read more

Pretty underwhelming experience overall. I left the restaurant feeling like I wouldn't need to return next summer. Sure, the view is pretty - and with out the view this place would be a complete write-off - but the dirty and ancient decor combined with an unimaginative menu and a staff that lacks enthusiasm makes for a less-than-mediocre choice. My two stars do not pay tribute to the view or outside patio space, but to their sweet potato fries. Oh my god... They deserve five stars on their own. I wish I could transplant those fries into a another venue... Coral Gables has always been my go-to restaurant when I'm in Saugatuck. The view is wonderful from the patio, and the food has always been fairly good. This last time was no exception. The view is still amazing and the food is still predictable and palatable bar food...but the service...oh my. I don't usually bother to write a negative review when my only complaint is the service, but seriously, it was really bad. For a full restaurant and patio there were only three waitresses. All of them seemed to be completely annoyed to be there, and were standing around inside complaining to one another. (How do I know this? Because after waiting for fifteen minutes for my waitress to come refill my iced tea, I ventured inside to find a refill myself. Then, my waitress had the audacity to be annoyed with me!) The food took forever to arrive...I mean, seriously, forty-five minutes kind of forever. I could keep going on the many disappointing facets of my visit, but I will leave you with this: Coral Gables isn't what it used to be, and sadly, I likely won't go back. read more

Came to Coral Gables after spending the afternoon at the state park. It looked pretty cool from the outside and we were intrigued by the fact that it had a nice view of the Marina. When we got there we were sat right away outside and had ordered waters. The water came quickly and we ordered our appetizer, coconut shrimp. The app came (amazing BTW) and we then ordered our food. We got the BLT&T wrap and the italian flatbread sandwich. We both really enjoyed our food. The only complaint we have is about the service, it was not too prompt. We had a wonderful dinner here tonight. We had a drink in the bar while we waited to be seated outside. Excellent bartender. (We are going back tomorrow!). 10 minutes later we were seated for dinner on the deck that overlooks the water and boats. Saw a gorgeous sunset. The waitress was above and beyond. Very attentive, super nice. I got the carbonara pasta which was delicious. My husband got the chicken Marsala and loved it. It came with yummy crispy Brussels sprouts and baby potatoes. The garlic rolls are amazing. Finished with Key Lime pie and Bailey's on the rocks. We weren't rushed at all. Loved this restaurant! read more
