They took the time to check the ordering system and even mentioned they would speak with the store owner about possibly getting it in and following up with me. That level of effort and care--regardless of the outcome--is what true customer service looks like, and I genuinely appreciated it. We came in looking for a sweet red wine and had a specific bottle in mind. The employee let us know they didn't have it, but said there were other sweet red options we could try. We made it very clear that we do not like dry reds and that the sweeter, the better. He recommended a bottle, but his attitude wasn't very welcoming. We decided to trust his recommendation anyway, only to get home and realize the wine was very dry -- exactly what we said we didn't want. We were really disappointed because we were looking forward to trying a new sweet red wine. Better customer service and listening to customer preferences would've made this a much better experience. A wonderful little liquor store, tucked away at the DC Wharf. They don't have everything, but they do have a surprisingly decent selection of wines, craft beers, whiskey, scotch, tequila, vodka, rum, you name it. Prices are competetive, and the staff is friendly. Enough said. read more

Great location... came in after long travel day grabbed a couple bottle as it was close to the hotel. Great selection, was bummed one of the bottles had a cork issue- but the customer service- they immediately switched it out for me! So glad to because it was such a great bottle! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and met with superb customer service. I knew I wanted a Prosecco.... The gentleman walked me over to the selection and also pointed out the bottle which we ended up purchasing being that it was chilled. My friend also had tons of questions regarding Japanese Whiskey. All of which were answered along with suggestions given. We were in and out within 10minutes due to the abundance of help! AND the suggestions were good! So glad to find this shop right near our hotel! We knew we were going to need some cocktails while we were in town and this place had lots of great local beverages. With the help of the cashier, he pointed us to a good vodka and made sure to recommend a nice wine in a can for me! They had some really great bottles of liquor and lots of wine options. Excellent service and perfect location. I wish we were in town a little longer because I am sure we would have visited at least a few more times. But the one visit we made was perfect for the 2 nights we were in town. read more

I was staying at the Intercontinental and unknowingly staring at Cordial's store front for the entire week. My curiosity got the best of me & my fiance and I ventured down one evening during our last couple of nights in DC. The storefront may be a little intimidating and potentially hoity-toity but it's far from it! Cordial had all kinds of reasonably priced wines & spirits. We wanted to drink our wine in the hotel room, so we were limited to the smaller fridge selection, but at least they had a fridge selection. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable but I expected better service based on the raving reviews so far. Cordial has two locations in DC - The Union Market and Wharf. We are from out of town and was looking for some drinks to have by our hotel pool. I stopped in since the nearby CVS doesn't sell alcohol. When I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly welcome. When asked if I needed help choosing, I told him that my wife liked the hard seltzers. He recommended a local brewery that was on point. It was fantastic and was definitely a perfect drink for the pool. read more

I'm blown away by the customer service at this store! Total lifesavers this past Valentine's Day. I had picked out a bottle and called to ask them to keep one back, and mentioned (just in passing, not a request) that I'd flubbed my V-day planning and the giftee would be with me. When we showed up not only had they held it back, but had packaged it in a very nice gift bag, removed the price and had it waiting on the counter. The woman working, who probably took my call, didn't let on AT ALL that it had been last-minute. She made me look WAY more organized than I really was! I was really impressed, they've gained a lifelong fan. Besides all that their stock is interesting and unique, and their website extremely helpful (it shows stock at stores, so you can check if they have something before you go). I will definitely try them first the next time I need a gift. read more
