Con: -Wait takes around 30-45 minutes and you'll need to find the wait-list sheet which gets passed around. overall: 3.5/5 service: 4/5 ambiance: 3.5/5 food: 3/5 for a party of 3 we ordered a total of 4 dishes: tteokbokki, seafood soondubu, the beef bulgolgi, and then gamtang. we arrived right at opening, and there was already a long line of people. we had to wait about an hour and ten minutes before being seated, so be prepared to wait if you want to try Coredam. but i would recommend going elsewhere instead for korean food if there's a long wait. of all the dishes we ordered, the gamtang was the best. everything else was just okay. the tteokbokki lacked in portion size and flavor. the seafood soondubu tasted like they used ramen flavor powder(?) for the soup and came with sparse toppings (i am a bit critical because i usually make my soondubu with a chicken broth base for more flavor, but this soup was disappointing). the bulgolgi hotpot was sweet and just okay- the plate is deceiving because there's not that much meat or ingredients for the price you pay. as for the gamtang, i appreciated how light tasting it was and how you could customize the salt and pepper levels to your tasting. this was the best dish for me. as for the side dishes- the kimchi was really fresh (like raw cabbage with red pepper flakes but flavorless and crunchy), i don't think they had time to let it ferment yet. the raw marinated crab was okay, they just give u the smaller parts of the crab that are usually not used to serve raw crab. there were a great variety of side dishes, but overall taste wise was also okay. my party and i were a bit disappointed by the food given all the hype on social media, and this would not be our first choice to satisfy our korean food cravings. read more

This is a great spot to come to if you're looking fr authentic Korean food. Right when I stepped into the restaurant (labeled "Superbowl Teriyaki" but it's Coredam), I felt like I time-traveled to my grandmother's small restaurant in Korea, seeing the metal-rimmed chairs and the utensils lined up for hungry customers. I arrived 15 minutes before lunch opening, right when the line was starting to get long, and I was able to get in in the "first wave." You have to know what to order when the staff comes around, and it's impossible to order additional food after the first round of ordering. I'm assuming this is temporary thing while they settle in, but it was certainly saddening to learn that I couldn't order more to take home for my mom to taste. I think the hype behind this place is because of the variety of banchan. Each banchan dish felt like it was done with care, but it was nothing out of the ordinary, IF you were in Korea. But this is Beaverton. So for that, it does receive high praise. Their entrees were solid as well. I'll update this review after I take my mom there. The variety of banchan was amazing and you get a good assortment of things you won't get at other places. (Such as raw marinated crab and raw marinated shrimp). I arrived 30 minutes early and there was already a line of people waiting. Not as bad as the first time I went, where the line was even longer and wait time was up to two hours so I gave up waiting. Glad I was able to not wait too long this time. Parking is limited, but there is some street parking you can find here. It's a popular spot for sure. The staff were quick to take my order and food came out within 5 minutes or so. I got their seolleongtang or what they call it on their menu beef soup. It's not often served at the Portland Korean restaurant scene. If it is, it's generally not made from scratch since this takes a lot of time and effort to make the broth. Typically you can find this soup in SoCal in LA or SD. I was excited to hear that they served this soup. I got the Seoul style beef soup that comes with beef brisket, beef tripe, beef head and beef intestine. When I first got the soup it wasn't boiling hot like I was expecting but it was hot. However, there was a strong intestine smell to it. I'm used to having this soup and generally it doesn't have this strong of a smell. I added some green onions, salt and pepper to season it to my liking. The soup was creamy and light. I tried one of the intestines and unfortunately it wasn't cleaned properly which made it off putting for the rest of the meal... the rest of the meats in it such as the beef brisket, trip and head were delicious. No issues. I want to mention, I do like intestines in soup if it's cleaned properly. The next time I order the soup I'll probably order the mixed seolleongtang instead which doesn't have the intestine. This soup came with 10 different banchan, a dipping sauce and rice. The rice looks to be made to order each time and comes in a little pot. My rice was a bit mushy, probably too much water. The banchan were good. My favorite was definitely their squid banchan (Ojingeo-jeot). This banchan reminded me of the first time I had it at a restaurant in San Diego that specializes in seolleongtang, which serves this squid banchan. There were a couple other banchan I've never had before that I enjoyed such as the soy marinated shrimp, the soy marinated chili's and another green. For the soy marinated shrimp, it is shell on and they do not de-vein the shrimp ahead of time. Just fyi for anyone who eats it. It wasn't a problem for me. Overall, I think it's a decent meal. If I'm in the area I'll definitely stop by if there's not a long wait. The staff were really nice, they would check in on me and asked if I needed anything. Korean food in the PNW is like finding an oasis in a desert. Or it's like a finding a wolverine in Oregon. Coredam is a hidden gem in the greater portland area. Coming from California, it is hard to find solid Korean food that will please the stomach and the heart. But Coredam is here to be a blessing. I will begin with the beginning to the end. You enter the doors to modernized art pieces on each wall. They bless you with side dishes that were out of this world. My two favorite banchan was the crab and the squid. It felt like a Ratatouille moment where I was taken right back to when I was a kid eating Korean food on a sad day. Furthermore, I ordered the yukaejang and oxtail soup. Both where phenomenal. Excellent broth with quality meat pieces. I also thought the temperature of the food was too hot to boogie, which is excellent for broth type foods. Honestly, the only main constructive feedback would be the rice container. I enjoy putting in the hot tea to make scorched rice water aka noo-run-ji (idk the transliterated version). But that would be a minor feedback, which would have made it a 4.5/5, but I rounded up because the entrees and side dishes were on point like Koreans in archery. I had the mixed Seolleongtang and it was a very good soup. The portion was a little small but I found this to be refreshing. The Tteokbokki was not good. I was excited to try this place because they're the first restaurant to serve raw marinated crab near PDX! My friend and I arrived around 1pm on a Friday and we were seated right away. We got the beef brisket soup, spicy tofu soup, and spicy raw marinated crab. I personally thought everything tasted okay. The tofu soup needed more flavor, the brisket soup was pretty standard, and the crab didn't seem marinated enough. After waiting 45 mins for a table we reviewed the very limited menu. One dish (rice cakes and fish cakes) arrived before they brought any banchan. The amount for each banchan item was laughable and very basic. Cold raw spicy crab arrived next (a bit off putting) with no tools to fight the sharp shells. To make room we offered the crab plate back also sharing we weren't going to eat it raw. A positive was they offered to steam it for us. Even after that, it was only meh. Spicy calamari was just ok. Beef bibimbap was decent, just not a substantial serving size. The provided rice was way overcooked and mushy. Left still hungry and not satisfied at all. Finally got to try this place after seeing a instagram reel and a couple tiktok videos. I have not seen a place in Oregon previously that offered Korean spicy raw marinated crab so this place peeked my interest. They also have a lot of authentic soups that normally aren't served at other Korean restaurants. It was pretty busy when we came however we were able to be seated within about 10 mins. The owner and workers were very friendly. I would highly recommend trying this place if you haven't. What I ordered: Sundaeguk $18 ^ it was so good.. I watch a lot of k dramas and would see this soup served as a 'hang over soup' and have always wanted to try it. They pack it with a lot of meat/protein so you definitely get your moneys worth. The bone broth itself was very smooth and rich. It comes a little bland and they give you the seasoning to season it yourself to how you like it. I would totally get this again 10/10. Spicy calamari $19 ^ this was so good, the sauce was just amazing over white rice. It's not actually spicy to me (I would say 2/10 for spice level) and it was literally packed with calamari. Some places I've eaten at and ordered this from would pack it with more vegetables than the calamari itself but not here. I love how they don't skimp out on the protein here. My friend and I shared this dish and there was so much that I was able to take home the rest to eat it once more. 10/10 for this dish. What my friend ordered: Pallock Soup $20 ^ I didn't try this dish myself however my friend said he really liked it. It's authentic here so I seen that there were alot of fish in this soup and also bones. Just be weary of that if you don't like to pick out the bones yourself but this is how it would be homemade. Banchan/Free ^ they actually gave us quite a bit of banchans and they are not your average ones that you get when you go to like kbbq and stuff. The ones that stood out to me the most was the raw spicy marinated squid. It was very tasty over white rice. The raw marinated crab. It's nice that they give you a little as a side dish so you're able to try it before ordering a whole portion of it. Also the raw soy marinated shrimp. It was very good and didn't taste fishy or raw really to me. I loved their banchans alot and that's one of the reasons I wanted to try this place. Also keep in mind if you didn't get something as a banchan you can ask them as well & they will. The service was really good and the food was really good. I just loved how everything you order was packed with meat/protein so you feel like you really get your money worth. I've dined at alot of other Korean restaurants that were the same pricing however they would barely give you meat and more veggies etc and that's literally the worst. If you haven't tried them out yet I would highly recommend it. Don't be nervous about the wait, when I first got it, it looked packed and I thought the wait would be forever however we were seated in less than 10 mins. The menu is vast, offering unique dishes like marinated crab and gopchang jeongol that you don't typically see. It's great that we have a place like Coredam that offers so many new and exciting dishes to our city. One way to tell if a Korean restaurant is top-notch is by the selection of banchan they provide, and Coredam definitely delivers. They offer 8-10 different pickled veggies and kimchi, as well as premium sides like marinated shrimp. Every single banchan dish was delicious. I ordered the spicy yukaejang kalguksu, which is a velvety, spicy anchovy broth with slices of beef. It was comforting and flavorful. Overall, my experience here was fantastic, despite the food taking a bit of time to arrive (which is understandable for a new and busy restaurant). Stopped by on a Friday as a solo diner, there was about a 5 minute wait with 1 family of 4 in front of me. The space is small but well layed out so the servers can come through quickly with carts of food. I ordered the sundubu, which came quickly with banchan and a side of rice. The sundubu was so good, very flavorful with lots of tofu and octopus, an egg, and some clam and mussels in their shells. I was a little worried at first about how much octopus there was because it's not usually my favorite but the texture was really nice and I enjoyed it. The egg (served raw) cooked perfectly after a few minutes. They had the traditional banchan with kimchi, bean sprouts and pickled stuff, my favorites were the pickled garlic scales and a savory pickled green I couldn't figure out. SERVICE We came 30 minutes before they opened. We were seated second, but it took them 45 minutes to take our order. After taking our order, we waited almost 1 hour before asking to just pay and leave without getting our order. They insisted that we stay and that our dishes were almost done. FOOD They brought out appetizers after 1.5 hours after we ordered and they tasted like something that belongs in the garbage. There was a strange dish that tasted like someone brined it in perfume. The crab tasted like they pulled it out of a the garbage after a hot day. The entrees came about 20 minutes apart. My tofu soup was odd at best. AMBIANCE It's giving fast food restaurant. My family and I tried this authentic old fashion Korean restaurant on vacation. We ordered galbi, sweet pork bulgogi, clam noodle with mixed vegetable soup, and japchae. All were delicious in this busy place in Beaverton look, and everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked very fresh and piping hot. Recently took 3 friends to this place. Over the holidays, I was gifted with Coredam gift card which I had been waiting to use on a special occasion. When our check arrived, I handed the server(whom I later found out to be the actual owner of the restaurant) the Coredam gift card, she stated that the card is invalid, due to recent change in ownership. I showed her the receipt-of-purchase for the gift card, and she kept saying the card cannot be honored. I didn't want to cause a scene, paid the bill with an alternate form of payment. I waited couple of days and called Coredam, to see if this can be resolved. After lengthy back-and-forth conversation, the owner agreed to compensate me, for the monetary value of the gift card. Really??? For sure I won't be returning to this place. My wife is a Korean-American. She is an AWESOME chef and I hardly ever go out for Korean food. Only reason we were out that night was because one of the friends we were with is a chef at a local restaurant and he's been wanting to check out Coredam. Second time around! We must have picked the right time, because we were able to walk right in! But apparently still gets quite busy over the weekend. The service is excellent. The two women working the front were nothing but nice! Seriously m, just so friendly! The hanjeonsik was very, very good. If you're here with one other person, I'd start with this, since it's a minimum of 2 orders. The bulgogi was just as good as last time we went. The spicy calamari was fried really well and the best part, the marinated crab was even better. I think it had more time to marinate this trip. My only complaints would be maybe the side dishes were a little more to my taste the first time, but they really load the table up with them! And, the yukgaejang didn't quite have the depth of flavor I'm used to, but I definitely enjoyed having the kalguksu noodles in it! Still good! read more

New Korean restaurant in town. Really good menu selections that other Korean restaurants dont offer. Rice is cooked in individual pot and you taste the difference in flavor. The banchan (not pictured) is upgraded and more delicacy and expensive items are provided. We got the gopchang jeongol to share and it was not salty or overly seasoned. I am very sensitive to gamey meat smell/taste and it had none. Because this place new hot place and still settling in, the wait and service can be slow but definitely worth it. Went to this restaurant a few weeks ago and I gotta I was very impressed with the amount of banchan there was available. Overall the amount of wait for us to get a spot was around 40min and it took around 35min for us to get all of our dishes. To be fair we did go on a Friday night so of course it was busy and the place itself is kinda small. I really wanted to love this restaurant as much as the hype around it had. However I really just thought it was ok, I got to have the tteok-bokki, bulgogi, and yuegaejung kalguksu and I felt like I had tried better before. I personally am not a huge seafood fan so I definitely missed out on their specialty the marinated crab and some of the seafood banchans. I did ask my friends for their opinions on it and it seemed pretty split. Some of my friends had the marinated crab and they loved it and they said they would go back just for the crab. While I had some other friends who didn't really like the crab and thought their experience was like a 6/10 food wise. Personally I thought my experience was pretty mid but that is just my personal opinion, the food itself cost around like $20 per dish and portion wise it was not a lot. So if you do go to this restaurant I would definitely suggest eating family style just so you could try more dishes and get more bang for your buck.
