AVOID!
Bought a voucher for 3 hot stone massages as I have very tight shoulder muscles and it seemed like a great deal. Rang to make a booking no answer, so I left a message. Did not hear back for a number of days so rang again. When I eventually got through I made my appt for a Wed at 3pm as I start work across the river at 4.30.
Got to the place at 3pm - didn't look great but I thought, ok I'm sure the treatment will fine. When you walk into the waiting area you just have to sit until someone comes out. There was another lady there and we were both unsure of whether there was a reception area at first.
A girl came out and took our names, she then went back down the hall and was whispering to another girl that there were 2 waiting I figured they overbooked. She came back and took away the other lady. The second girl came out and told me that I was not on the list and she could not handle bookings. She said I would have to ring the number the next day as he was off for the rest of the day. I didn't make a fuss as I myself work in an office where I don't deal with bookings but simply bring in clients, so I know how it can be if there is a booking mix-up. Still quite annoying as I had paid for parking and now had an hour to kill before work.
Rang the next day to reschedule. He apologised and said it was his mistake. I asked what he had available for the next week. He said I'm actually unsure of when I have cover for 'cause I have girls dropping like flies around me, which I thought didnt sound great. We settled on the following Wed at 12noon this wasn't ideal but took it.
Came in for my appt. Again, paid for parking in town. Sat in waiting area for 10mins. I then rang him and asked was there a reception I was supposed to go to (as I thought maybe last time the girl just happened to come out). He said he sent me a text but it must have gone to the wrong number, that his son was off sick from school so he couldn't come in. He read out the number he sent it to, which was not mine at all. He could have actually rung me, or rung me when there was no reply. From this I also figured he might be doing the massage. He apologised again and said that I would get a complimentary treatment for the mixup. We settled on the following Wed at 12pm again. When I hung up I realised he never even asked to take my correct number. I'd say he forgot about the appt and lied.
Anyway, went in for my appt (today) at 12noon. I rang ahead of time to make sure it was still ok. He sounded surprised like he forgot he messed it up for me twice already. When I got in, I met him. He was a 50-60 year old man in a tracksuit. He asked if I had a voucher. I said no this is supposed to be complimentary. He said 'oh is it' casually. He apparently forgot and also didn't care that it was. From my experience, there is usually a towel on the bed that you are told to get under for when they come in. Instead I was on the table face down and he then came in with the towel to put over me. As the others said, the massage was essentially a rub down, and when he did my shoulders from the front I could smell he was a smoker. I was out by 12.30pm from a supposedly 1hour treatment. My shoulders are still killing me as I type, if not worse.
Debating whether to actually use the Groupon now as it was a complete waste of time. I might ask for a female messeuse and see if it's better just to get some sort of value for money. Has anyone experience a massage from one of the girls? read more
