Picnic tables are accompanied along here and the other section on the northern side with many more. Grills are provided for a plus near the picnic tables. Boat docks are used in this park for anyone's pleasure, and there's plenty of room for it to be done right. The view of the Hudson River is an incredible closeup, seeing the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge as the highlight and also viewing the east side of northern Dutchess County. In the distance on that side, you'll get a glimpse of the train tracks of Amtrak and occasionally CSX trains passing by. We happen to see an Amtrak heading north as we were leaving. Looking even further, especially if it's a clear day, you'll see the town of Rhinecliff to the south. It's a great place to have a get-together and to take in nature at this location!

But you may want to bring your own lawn chairs if you want to sit on something other than a picnic table. There's plenty of parking space. You're right along the river, and there's a deck area where folks lounge and fish. You have quite a view of the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. If you're there when the Rhinebeck Aerodrome is open, you'll occasionally see one of their planes fly over the river to about the same latitude as the park, which is evidently their turn-around point. You'll have some very nice views of foliage during leaf-peeping time.

I think there were more seagulls here today than people. And that's pretty crazy, because this park…read morewas incredibly crowded today as well, including several very large groups having some kind of party (maybe that's what attracted the gulls?). I'd say 90% of the picnic tables were full. If you're practicing social distancing, it might be tough here on a day like this, especially since all the folks in the large groups were evidently comfortable around each other. It is a nice spot for a picnic, and there's a few places for other activity, such as the basketball court. It's possible that it was very crowded today, even though it was overcast and not with a lot of fall foliage yet, because it was probably the last warm weekend for a while in this area. You do get a nice view of the Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge, and you'll eventually see some nice foliage in a few weeks (from the time I wrote this).

Doing some research online, I came across this park. It's nice to see what the Hudson Valley offers…read morefor its park! Parking can be limited at times, so the best time to go is early in the day. There are multiple paths that anyone can take, but for our convenience, we did the red and yellow path (those are the main ones). Other paths are found along the trails. Some of the markings can be unclear along the way, so keep an eye out on that. It's best to follow the dirt path at all times. Be aware, most of it is windy. The fire tower wasn't what we expected. As we approached near the top, there were a lot of bees on the railing. The view is excellent from where we stopped, but not enough to fulfill a hiker. Another thing is to watch out for is bugs. There is a lot of shady spots on each path, therefore, I strongly recommend bringing bug spy. Something I learned too. As long as you look at the map, there won't be any problems.

On-top of the humungous playset they have for the kiddos (that tends to be the "talk of the town" by many who come here), they also have a bunch of tables located on a patio set and quite a bit of grass. And sometimes that can be great if you come and find out that the zoo isn't really that interesting and want to do something else. I came to this park in mid-June despite many other times, and was astounded by the abundance of "life" here. I saw birthday parties being held along with school groups holding an "activity day" here as well as this past day people were enjoying the sun and getting out and enjoying the lovely weather (as bad as the weather has been with all this rain we've had, today was rather pleasant). I had seen more than ample enough people sitting on the grass and talking to others amongst the sea of other people rambling about this place trying to find an enjoyable space to sit tight. I've known about this park for years now, but I do rarely go because I'm not from Kingston. I occasionally pop in, but I actually had a few minutes to stop by, and since I was nearby at the time (at the Emergency One with my g'mother), I'd thought I'd stop in and see what's cooking.

When I later stopped off, the signs out front of the park were confusing - but I trudged on and into the park. However, once I found a parking spot (no spots are really marked per se), I couldn't believe just how lovely it felt to stop by. I like relaxing spots and having it be a warm day and being so close to the Hudson River, I felt that "cooling" refreshing breeze sweep over me. From the signs of the river breezes rushing in towards the banks of the parks, I could tell it was going to storm. Lots of places were saying to stay tuned for storms for tonight. However, I stopped by (for about ten minutes) and it was a surprise. The park may not be very much of a park at all. There are a couple of kid playland pieces and an enclosed table area (which has been closed by the park's management in light of coronavirus as is seen by tables being stacked on top of one another). However, that doesn't stop people from taking their stuff over onto the grass under or near the trees as I spotted today by this one couple having a picnic on the grass with their kids. In spots, I spotted some kids going into the water at the shore's edge - still in the safety of eyes of the caretakers (don't know if they were parents or not). Except for a few spots, there are few to no signs of no swimming - although beware, the beachfront isn't large enough to be considered a beach, and there are no lifeguards here! I don't know the accuracy of the statement of what I think I saw, but there's an outlet area near the parking lot that looks like it's been used as a boat launch area before. However, that too has signage, but nothing about no launching boats here. I mean, I could see this place as a great picnic spot for when you are out of ideas and need a cool refreshing breeze to pick you up, and having some of the Riverview Apartments nearby, makes things a bit refreshing to see relaxation places show up in these times of closure (where walls begin to cave in) - up close, and I'm glad to have been a part of them today. I probably won't be back because I don't live close enough by, but I guess if I'm in the area, I could stop by - probably on another whim.

When you factor in just the nearest park setting, this park tends to be a little small - with few…read morebenches. But when you factor in the expansive area just outside the park - this waterfront park can be huge. It's centerpiece is it's monument dedicated to kingston members of the armed forces who've risked their lives and died - found at the corner nearest the waterfront bathrooms near the Rip Van Winkle boat. I myself have found the ability to feed the birds and ducks that go by here often. It can be so serene and these poultry know it. You can often find electric fish coming up from the water below to catch food floating on the water's surface. Then you add in the few benches that exist, and you will get a park. It's gotten worse over the years. Many years ago, there used to be live bands playing on the stages, but it seems like they've all be told to find other gigs elsewhere. A person who sits on the benches, will sometimes hear the soundtrack from what's inuse at Mariners Harbor nearby, but this isn't even the best. There's little - if any - parking existing for this park that is free. You either have to pay for sidewalk-like parking, or you can go into the lot (which often is full of cars from the Landing added to the cars from the nearby businesses), or if you see a non-handicap spot nearest the Rip Van Winkle boat (isn't often), you can take one there. Your best bet is to park somewhere else in Kingston and Uber-down to the park (or Uber to Mariners Harbor and walk). I don't come down here that often, if it isn't for some peace and quiet in busy times, but it can be a necessary place at times.

Boats creeks and…read moreplaques T.R, Gallo Park was developed in 1984 and renovated and expanded in the years since then. Not a very large park but it is connected to a river walk so it's possible to walk for several miles along the water. The park is located on Roundout Creek and has nice views of the water and boats at the marina. You can even see a couple of very cool lighthouses if you really try. The park has a nice gazebo, picnic tables, benches and a memorial to all those brave souls that have been lost at sea. Lots of events are held at the park in the warm months and there is even a little place to launch kayaks and other small craft. Not a large park but one in a great location. A great use of the open space down by the marina and water.

Nice beach, it actually is a tributary of the Hudson River. My son and wife love going there on…read morehot summer days. It's easy to access and a great launch point for kayaking.
