The church is very clean and beautiful, with stunning vaulted ceilings, a huge organ in the back, and lovely stained glass windows (I wish I had taken photos). The recreational area with the stage was spacious and well laid out, and I appreciated that there was a handicap-accessible elevator to reach the stage. The space behind the stage was also quite large and functional. A special mention to Dave, who was incredibly kind and helpful--he pointed us to the nursery, where my two-year-old enjoyed playing with the toys. Overall, a welcoming, well-maintained space that worked very well for the event I attended.

It is pastored by Reverend Richard Flashman. I visited the church's morning service on November 1, 2009. The service began at 8:30 AM and ended about 9:45 AM. They also have an 11 AM service, and Sunday School between services. Beacon Hill is a mid-sized church - capacity for about 240 people, there were about 80 attenders the service I was there. The people are very warm and friendly, going out of their way to seek out visitors (there is a small part of service set aside for "greeting your neighbor and nearly everyone in church leadership came over to shake my hand and get my name). The dress is casual (even the elders serving communion were in jeans) although there were individuals wearing suits and ties here and there. The worship style is mixed with hymns dominating the more liturgical parts of the service, and worship choruses dominating the less liturgical parts. The church had a very "homey" atmosphere, with congregants speaking up during announcements and even one case where a hand was politely raised during the sermon to alert the pastor to an urgent prayer request. The sermon was thematic, setting out the pastor's vision for the church for the next year (part of an ongoing series). The sermon itself was light on scripture, but plenty of scripture was read elsewhere in the service. Overall, I had a very good experience at the church. This is a tightly-knit but friendly family of believers gathered to worship the Lord.

The community at this church is outstanding and probably the main reason we continue to go to this church. You feel like you are part of a family. During service there is a specific time set aside to greet each other and catch up on the week. There is fellowship not only inside the church but also outside with BBQ's, small groups, movie nights etc. The job they do with the vacation bible school in the summer and Awana in the fall for the children is spectacular. It really is an environment that is extremely friendly to young Christian families. The services appeal to all ages. The music is a blend of contemporary & traditional with the perfect blend of hymns and current artist music. The sermons are passionate & real life stories mixed in with the message make it easily applicable. The women really opened up their hearts to my wife, and we were overwhelmed with the church's generosity when our son was born. Families provided us with meals for almost 2 weeks so that we could rest and enjoy our baby! Overall, we had a very good experience at the church. The love at this Church is incredible and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Monroe area, especially if you have a young family that you want to get involved in a Christian community.
