She refused, saying she was the only one there. The call lasted at least 10 minutes. I got extremely upset crying and yelling and she hung up on me. I called and spoke with the doctor who owns the practice today. He informed me he was in fact there during my conversation with his administrator on Friday and heard the whole thing. I may be wrong, but didn't this doctor take an OATH to DO NO HARM? He listened to the conversation and not once interjected to help me? NO ten minute run in and outs here! He also has excellent listening skills. He will call you himself in the evenings with results of your tests and it is rare he forgets, but then he can be paged to correct that. Additionally Dr Hanlon will be your champion with anything he can that affects your health, be it your insurer, your pharmacy, your specialist, your hospital. Despite that he dislikes the health care bureaucracy as much as the patient does, he does not leave you at your own devices to fight it. His diagnostic skills and knowledge are spot on and he is totally open to learn new things, even from patients. I believe they are all affiliated with Beverly Hospital and that network. They always call to remind me of my scheduled appointments the day before they occur, in case you need to reschedule, the staff is very quick at responding when you call with a question or need to get a referral or documents sent to a specialist, and they dont leave you waiting around forever. Scheduling physicals are a little annoying, as you cant get one immediately, the appointments are usually a few weeks to a month from when you call (unless you schedule one for a year from the day you come in for one. Although, if you are sick, they will see you immediately - the same day, unless you call late in the afternoon, then they will have you come in the next morning. My doctor is very good about checking in with me about my health, progress in weight loss, nutrition, or other concerns, and when i had my pap done, letting me know about various womens health solutions available (birth control etc). I recently had a medical emergency and the office consistently called me to make sure i was ok, and to follow up on appointments with specialists to see their diagnosis. It was not cumbersome or confusing since the staff always gave me referrals to doctors who accepted my health insurance and were local. I've seen patients of all ages here. If you need a new primary care physician who looks out for you and is great at giving you important health info (not simplistic, condescending statements), Family Medicine is a great office to go to.
