It has a cosy bar area, three inside eating areas with river views, two outside eating areas and a terrace to really enjoy the view. They are happy to accommodate diners with dogs (there are also dog-free areas) and it's very child-friendly (there's a children's menu, and some tables seat eight). The menu offers starters at £7.50-£7.95, mains around £18 (except fish and seafood at £24 and steak at £29), desserts at £7.50, as well as a choice of ice creams and sorbets (£3.50-£7.50). They offer a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We chose Sea Bass served with Lemon Parsley Caper Butter, Herb Roasted New Potatoes, Garden Salad with Buckwheat & Broad Beans with Honey Mustard Sauce & New Leaf Microgreens (£24); and the one of the vegetarian options: Glamorgan Crumble a tower of Leeks, Carrot, Breadcrumbs & Mature Cheddar Cheese, Garlic & Herb Roasted New Potatoes, Glebelands Salad, Quinoa, Bean, Vegetable Salad & Fresh Herb White Sauce (£19.95). We followed this with Dark Cherry & Marzipan Bake Vanilla Ice Cream £7.50. Overall, the food was very good, except that the seabass was (disappointingly) over done and therefore falling apart. I always think it's a little odd serving a cold side salad on the side (or in my case underneath) a hot dish, although overall the flavours did work well together. The Glamorgan Crumble was very tasty. Service was a little manic: some staff seemed to run around all evening, and we were served by four different people during the evening. (One was very nice, two were a bit brusque.) They were busy, but we had booked (and were expecting) a table in the downstairs area with a river view, but were shown to a different part of the restaurant area. There were, however, a number of reserved tables which remained empty through the evening, so it seems like they had a few no-shows. Overall we had a nice evening: with two glasses of wine, the bill came to £75 for two, excluding service. It's firmly worth four stars, and of course you're paying for the location, but at these prices, getting the fish right and calmer service would land a five.

We were incredibly pleased with how lovely the place is. Great outdoor dining area, and incredibly cosy inside. The staff were incredibly courteous, and the food was just unbelievably good. I'll admit, when I first ordered, I did think that they were a little expensive. However, it turns out that was because I was expecting the food to be of a lower standard. What they brought out to us was worth every penny. This is a fantastic little place, a hidden gem. Worth driving over an hour to go to, seriously.

It was no surprise then when I found out it was the same lady who runs the nearby campsite, The Pound. She is not a nice person to deal with, but she couldn't give a hoot how she deals with paying customers from all accounts. Pros: It's right on the River Wye and has a landing site The view of the River Wye from the beer garden is amazing The young bar staff were pleasant despite their bosses behaviour Cons: The food was just ok. My beef and mushroom pie had a gravy which which was a tad too strong The owner is not a nice person to deal with I can't imagine we'll stop here again. Myself and my husband would rather stop at a field further on the river which we've stayed at before - with sheep poo, no facilities and cook our own food - than give her our custom again. As time went on we decided that we would like to stay and have dinner here but indoors as it was getting cold. There were 14 of us and they managed to fit us into the restaurant area on the proviso we ordered quickly before the 6:30pm booking arrived and one table had to vacate by 8pm. The staff were great and we did not feel that we were being rushed even though some people had starters. A lot of us picked from the specials board and the food came out devine and the service was outstanding. The place was busy as it was the jazz/fringe festival weekend so the clientelle was of all ages (a bit annoying having babies/kids screaming thoughout the meal) including elderly who came in through the fire door for easy access. I would definitely recommend this place which is also dog friendly. This place is soo good that Seasick Steve was playing there that evening and eating his dinner in the pub part as we left.

It posseses open fireplaces, and a choice of cozy tables for 2 or 4, and long tables for larger parties in the back. HRH Prince Charles, Dylan Thomas have both visited here, to sample the beer still brewed on the premesis. The food is pricey, but what a meal you get for your money! A huge plateful that would be enough for two! the most reasonable is the Roast dinners, approx £10 a head. The walls and ceilings of the Inn are covered in memorobilia, from horse brasses to farming tolls, there is enough to occupy your mind while you wait for your meal. On your way to the loo you will encounter a full suit of armour, and in the back are fish tanks, and a talking parrot!
