Everything about this was deceptively convenient. Select my son's class and then pay online. Easy. But everything after was a complete mess. I got emails changing dates and times which the instructors - in classroom and driving - contradicted. I picked the times for a reason -to work with our schedule and instead had to rearrange my entire week around the nonsense the Safety Council put us through. My son came out of class the first day with a written note explaining more changes to the schedule and then the driving instructor gave him a no-show for missing a driving session we were told was moved. He even went on to pretty much call us liars since he "emailed" us about the schedule. He did not, we checked through every email, text, and hand written note we'd got from the people at this site. Then, after we finally get done (and we were so happy to just be done dealing with this company), come to find out they never sent the information to the DMV so I had to call them while at the counter to get them to push the send button they should have done months ago. The two ladies at the school who had to endure my barrage of phone calls (because I called close to a dozen times over 30 minutes) should get a raise, everyone else, not so much. The woman at the DMV was nice enough to let me keep trying to get a hold of them even after the DMV office closed. She tried to be neutral about the whole thing but apparently this is a common problem with this driving school. As we left, and she probably thought we were out of earshot, I heard her tell her coworker that she had yet to meet anyone who liked the National Safety Council's driving program. So nice, even the employees at the DMV know they're cr@p. I cannot believe I actually paid these people for the level of incompetence I got. Bonus: The woman at the DMV told us a story of how one mom had come in only to go through the same issue we were going through. Couldn't get through to apparently the 1(one) person who can send the info to the DMV (so apparently the person who is the root cause of the immediate problem since if they did their job the DMV wouldn't be aware of them) and instead had their child take the test to get their drivers license. The employee was trying to make it into a funny story but all I could think was the woman paid $300+ for her child to go to this school. I hope she got a refund.

This is the place to go to get rid of those pesky traffic violation tickets, oddly enough located…read morenear one of the most dangerous and hard to navigate intersections in the city (I'm looking at you, 120th and L). So I was taking care of a little speeding ticket I received last month. I rolled up here for a 6-10 p.m. class on a Monday night -- just my luck it was during the NCAA men's basketball championship game. Ah well. None of us were here for the sheer fun of it. The class from the National Safety Council was mind-numbingly long and dull, but even so that's exactly what I expected. As I sat there doodling in a workbook more fit for first graders than a roomful of adults with driving issues, I couldn't help think about how much I hate driving in general. It's dangerous and costly. From insurance, to maintenance, to all the time I've wasted in my life sitting in traffic -- made all the worse thanks to the terrible drivers who eventually end up in this class (myself excluded, of course; I'm a great driver who was just caught "going with the flow of traffic"). Give me adequate bike lanes and a public transportation system that can actually get me to places I want to go and I'll stop gunning it down the road in my 4-banger Subaru. Went to school there 8 years ago. I did the afternoon and weekends. Great training in the class…read moreroom and very informative. Learned alot. Only problem was the teacher that work the afternoon and weekend class was great in the classroom but while driving if you missed a gear or sometime he would have a fit and yell. 4 guys in the class and we all couldnt enjoy learning to drive with him on the passanger seat as he just didnt know when he was going to flip out. I did my state test with a lady on days and she was amazing and was very calm. Wish id done the day class and this review would have been a 5 star. The school itself was amazing. Hopifully he is gone by now.

UNO is a fantastic university. Not only do they offer an excellent education for undergrads and…read moregrad students alike, it's surprisingly affordable. As an alum, I couldn't be more proud to see how it's grown in the last few years. During my undergrad years in the early to mid 2000s, I spent my time bumping between classes, buildings and, for a while there, majors. There was always a friendly face, it seemed, willing to strike up a conversation in front of the student center or library or just waiting outside of a classroom. Back then, UNO was easing out of being an urban commuter campus. The first rounds of dorms had been built and the campus was just starting to come to life with around-the-clock amenities. Still, the school was entrenched in Division II sports, living in the shadow of UN-L and the Huskers just a few miles away in Lincoln. Now, UNO has a full fledged D-I sports program, riding high off of the hockey team's first appearance in the Frozen Four. Both the Dodge Street and Pacific Street campuses are rapidly filling in parking lots with new educational, administrative, recreational and residential buildings, anchored on the south end with Aksarben Village and the soon-to-be-opened Baxter Arena. At the end of my time at UNO, I wound up with an English degree and a great job shortly after graduating. I couldn't ask for much more than that. Funny thing, as good as I had it, there's no better time than right now to be a Mav!
