Love the Coronado! I've always had good experiences going to this theater. They renovated it several years ago and it shows. The inside is ornately decorated, and reminds me very much of the legendary Chicago theater. Lots of charm and provides a welcoming atmosphere. Whoever schedules the events here does a great job, because they offer something for everyone: everything from bands, to musicals, to orchestras, to comedians. They conveniently have a parking garage directly across the street, so you don't have to worry about walking far. Everything here is kept very clean. The bathrooms are nothing to write home about, but also kept clean. A Rockford classic if there ever was one!

Very cool venue, definitely worth a visit. We went to this venue in Rockford for the first time last night to see Nate Bargatze. We knew to expect great laughs from Nate, as we've seen him before. This was a sold out show, and the crowds in front of the entrance was big. I definitely recommend arriving early if you are going to a show at this venue. It took us a little while to get in, but we had plenty of time. The staff was all very nice and helpful. We were greeted and walked to our seats by an usher once we were inside. The seats were pretty comfortable as compared to other similar venues, which is nice. After the show was a different story. Let me preface this by saying that the venue and staff had nothing to do with it being so hectic. There was just 2,000 people trying to exit all at once, so it definitely took us a little bit to get out and to the parking garage across the street. I am pretty sure the parking garage is not directly owned by the venue. It was rough trying to leave from the 4th floor. We probably sat in the car for 25 minutes before moving. But once we did it was smooth. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back! I highly recommend the venue, it's beautiful and has a great staff. You're sure to have a blast!

We came to this theater to see Bert Kreischer and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the theater and the attentive staff. Our section of seats were individual chairs rather than the typical theater seats, which looked average (small) in size, so my party was pretty comfortable. Parking options around the theater seemed adequate. We were able to park directly across from the theater, which was great on a cold night. I'm sure we'll return to see another show!

My MIL and I made the short drive to Rockford to see "Teresa Caputo, Live!" at the Coronado. Beautifully stunning theater with ample seating (at least for this particular event). I also found the theatre to be handicapped accessible if you were seated on the main floor. Restrooms weren't the easiest to get to and I'm not sure if there was an elevator in the building or not. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Cons: very congested restrooms located in the basement. Parking garage across the street was convenient and cheap, but there's literally only one operational self-pay ticket kiosk. WHAT? It took us over 30 minutes to pay our ticket and get the heck out of there at the end of the night. Come on city of Rockford-invest in another one!

Gorgeous theatre, staff was really helpful, small theatre but well managed. Hidden historic gem and would love to come back for another event! Parking was right across the theatre and was only $5. Steal. Had an amazing night!

This is definitely one of the best places in Rockford. The theater is absolutely amazing and a treat to see even if there was nothing going on, on the stage. The quality of performances that come to this theater are incredible. They book everything from PawPatrol for the kids, Stomp for the family and deep plays and wonderful musicals for an adult night out. I would highly recommend to anyone that is visiting Rockford or who live in Rockford that have not yet been there, GO THERE! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Coronado stage- ample room for a great orchestra (PS Kristin Chenoweth's great!)

I came here last night with my mom from Chicago to see Kristin Chenoweth live! Never having been to Rockford before, I wasn't sure what to expect here. Driving into Rockford itself seemed pretty dark and isolated, but as soon as we turned on Main Street and saw the bright lights of the theatre, we didn't feel so "out of Kansas" anymore. The staff was very nice and friendly and the architecture inside was just beautiful. My only two complaints are the lack of bathrooms and the location itself. For any sort of theatre nightlife, it's always about location, location, location, and the bathrooms were minimal and not easy to find. I probably won't make the trip back down there for a while, but for what it is and where it's at, the Coronado's pretty great.

My wife & I came here to see Brian Adams, Bare Bone tour. The concert was great by the way! But, this review is for the Theater itself. As others have noted, if you judge this place by the outside, you'll more than likely come to the wrong conclusion on account that the inside is so well preserved and you could almost get a good feel on how it was back in the 20's to 50's. If you look around closely, you'll still see some of the older equipment used in turing down the house lights and various call boxes. I also found the sound of the theater to be of good quality also. Glad we came and looking forward to another trip out there as we drove in from Chicago!

We were a little disappointed with the holiday pops program as compared with the 2011 pops. Still a beautiful theatre and great symphony.

I recommend bringing a lawn chair to sit on. They do have a few stadium style seats on the right side but it's recommend to have your own. I've been a few times and there is always someone with an obnoxiously oversized chair that makes it hard for people behind them to see. Before the show you can get delicious farm fresh food from Enos Farm. I look forward to their tacos every show! You can also enjoy a cold beer, or wine, but make sure to bring cash as its cash only and no ATM on site. We always have a great time and are loo forward to going back each year!

I went to watch Les Miserables by Schaumburg On Stage as I'd recently missed the national tour in…read moredowntown Chicago. Realizing that Drury Lane and Paramount had done their version a few years back and Marriott Theatre had done it a bit before that, I wanted to watch a live version in case I can't make the next big stop in Milwaukee. I watch quite a bit of theatre, both professional and amateur. Not sure why, but until this show -- I wasn't aware of Schaumburg on Stage which has been around since 2016. To my surprise, the quality of the production was similar in quality to other highly acclaimed groups like the District 214 all-district group (which recently did The Wedding Singer). Here were my thoughts on various aspects of the show: Staging: It really surprised me how many sets were used in the show and how they were fully functional. They were designed and painted well and items were hardly reused. They also did a very good job of quickly changing sets to make sure the showtime was kept to a reasonable length. Vocals: Two things I like about this. One is how they kept the complex harmonies -- which worked great in group songs. The overall balance lacked baritone and bass voices, but that's expected with younger actors. I also liked how they did not shy away from the challenge of the very high notes for male or female leads. They could have easily changed the key, but it's great to see them embrace the challenge. Orchestra: A bit smaller, not sure if it's due to space limitations or that's the way the school version is written. A bit more reliant on piano and common woodwind/string instruments than the full version. I did like how they played at a level not to overpower the vocals. Lighting and fog: I liked all the varieties of lights used. Not just in general stage lighting from the top, but also from lights on the side and spotlights. There were quite a bit of variations on lighting, which helped to tell the story. I did not like the excessive use of stage fog though, which tended to linger for more than a single scene. Overall, a great group to watch a show from. It's much better than the typical amateur group and prices are very reasonable. It's also great how they incorporate actors and actresses from all different ages and help them to build interest in theatre. Based on the quality of this performance, I can't wait to watch another show when they get a new digital microphone system.
