Visited Canberra Theatre Centre yesterday evening for Opening Night of SIX the musical. Was so…read moreimpressed - the theatre is gorgeous, no bad seats in the house and the amenities and staff are all just lovely. It was apparent how special this venue is for the local community and I'm excited to see more shows and performances here. Performance was on par with Broadway and West End shows, but theatre was modern, comfortable seats, great view lines and acoustics, and top notch snacks and drinks on offer at very reasonable prices. Just one example how Canberra can be the best of both worlds - small town work life balance, clean air, lovely people, but also loads of culture.

Crisps, ice cream, and other light snacks on offer before shows as well as during the interval, depending on the show, of course. BEST OF ALL: you can pre-order interval drinks and have them waiting for you on a special table! I will definitely take advantage of this next time. SERVICE & SPACE I was hugely impressed at the level of professional service and management, both on the part of the service staff and the theatre technicians. Foyer and in-house ushers are helpful and polite, but firm about when one can enter the theatre if late. The powder rooms are a bit of a hike from the main theatre, so don't expect to have time to get drinks *and* freshen up during the interval. Parking can also be a bit of a headache, but it's Canberra so public transport is an option. PRICE Canberra Theatre Centre offers a huge range of entertainment from famous comedic writers or internationally acclaimed ballet troupes to broadway-level musical productions and Star Wars-themed burlesque shows. I have seen tickets from as low as $24 and up to $140 - nothing over $150 ($65 seems to be the standard for most shows).
