They have a wonderful selection of books, spanning a wide range of genres. You could spend a long time just browsing the shelves, looking for new books. Something that I thought was awesome, is that there's even a dedicated "teen room" for patrons under a certain age to hang out in and read. I'm too old to go in there, but you can see from the outside that it's well stocked with books and even has computers (for use with a library card).

I went while city voting was being done, but luckily they have plenty of parking so I had no issue finding a spot. You approach a librarian for a private room, which thankfully they had available. The WiFi was a tad spotty, but you are out in deep Rio Rancho so what do you expect! Kids area was large and clean, they even had an outdoor playground area. I also loved that they had a little bookstore on site. Keep in mind it is a $10 minimum for credit cards. I will def be back to work when I'm in the area!

I checked at front desk and no one brought it in. So I left in a sad vibe. Left my number there if anyone brought it in, but no calls yet.

So I recently found out about an app called Libby that lets you rent books via the app and delivers…read morethem to your kindle to read. You can also rent audiobooks. In order to use the app you need to have a library card. Since I'm an avid kindle reader/Audible user I was super excited about this and wanted to start using it right away! I headed to the library and signed up for a card which was extremely fast and easy. Not only were the staff members that helped me very friendly and welcoming, but they were super knowledgeable about Libby and other similar apps. They gave me info on how to sign up and start using the app and gave me a digital media guide with detailed instructions on using the app. It was so helpful! I was only inside the library for less than 20 minutes but it seemed clean and spacious. Definitely looked like a nice spot to study or just relax and read.

Profits are directed to local libraries and literacy projects in Sandoval County. There's a great selection of all types of books - fiction, non-fiction, history, hobbies and more. Prices are reasonable - most things are $5 or less. I picked up 3 books for $9. New these books would have cost me over $50. The store relies on donations so the turnover is constant. Plus, everyone working there is a volunteer. I'll be clearing out my book shelf and take some with me to donate the next time I'm in the area. Lets see - inexpensive books purchases and helping to fund literacy? Sounds like a win-win to me.

My husband…read moreand I visit frequently from Denver, CO as a weekend getaway and I can't recall a single trip where this stop hasn't been on our list. The Museum is well situated in Old Town and an easy bop over from the shops. In fact, if you visit on a Sunday morning, the museum is free of charge and shares a parking lot with Old Town. You can have your parking validated by the museum and spend some time at both. The permanent exhibits at the museum are expertly organized and there's almost certainly something for everyone. You could easily spend the day learning about local New Mexico artists in many different formats, or enjoy the rotating exhibits. Even if a rotating exhibit doesn't sound particularly interesting, I highly encourage you to check it out. The curator at this museum does an absolutely fantastic job of keeping things engaging. There's a particularly profound permanent piece that I highly encourage one to find, which is a video accompanied by a teeter-totter. And don't miss the sculpture garden outside! The gift shop is worth a stop, too. Many of the museum gift shops that I've stopped in over the years are filled with, well, junk--items largely irrelevant to the visit. The Albuquerque Museum, though, showcases local artisans, local food, and so much more. I almost always leave with something from their Los Poblanos case and a new coffee table book about the southwest. Can't recommend this gem enough!

The Old San Isidro Church in Corrales, NM is one of those unique 'hidden' places. It really isn't hidden if you open your eyes and pay attention. The Old San Ysidro Church is a beautiful window into the history of rural New Mexico. Come visit. Attend one of the free (yes, FREE!) Speaker Series during 2025 at the Old Church managed by the Corrales Historical Society. Soak in the history just by being in this wonderful old church building.

Located right across the street from Casa San Ysidro, the Old San Ysidro Church in Corrales is an…read more1868 building recognized on both the New Mexico Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places. It is open for "tours" - docents are available to point out features and answer questions (even when there are no current displays). And it is rentable for private events (suitable for a church setting). It is an absolutely beautiful setting for a wedding and can seat 150. Throughout the year there are art shows and monthly speakers - all free to attend. There is also a small "gift shop": the docents run a table with books, cards, and items baring San Ysidro and the scene of his miracle - an angel ploughing his farm land for him.

It's hard to think of it as a Mecca for shopping but I love finding one-of-a-kind goodies and this is the right area to do it in! The restaurants also are a must! Chains are nowhere to be found! You'll find locally owned, quality fare with fresh ingredients made with the heart and the soul. There are several farms in Corrales that sell apples, chile, and other fruit and veggies. Anything you want fresh can be found fresh and you better believe a lot of the restaurants utilize those fresh ingredients as well! If you love local events and culture, there is always something going on in town, whether it is a parade or a farmers' market. There is also an old church that is now a museum.
