My visit to the local post office in A Coruña was very enjoyable! Being that we had packed our luggage tight with clothes for all kinds of situations for our Euro trip, we decided that it was time to pare down and ship some stuff back to the homeland. Boy, is my dad going to think he's receiving a special gift when he gets our package in the mail (if it ever makes it).
After learning about the postal service in Spain and our best option, we chose the largest International postal service box they had. We were surprised/delighted to learn that the box we purchased had a flat rate, which meant we could pack it with as much stuff as possible. There are two options, an "economical" one and an "express" one. We chose the "economical" version as we don't not have time constraints. The postal worker we worked with was very accommodating and helpful and was able to meet our requests. He was friendly and even spoke a bit of English to us.
The system at the post office is simple and easy. There is a computer monitor/touch screen where you select what service you need. Then, a number is distributed to you and you wait for your number to be displayed with the corresponding window you visit. I have to say, there were many service windows open and available (something I am not used to) with customer service personnel and the process went quickly and smoothly. We did not have to wait more than a minute to be helped.
Although this location is busy as its by the port, we were helped by the postal worker (whose name i did not retain, sadly) as if we had all the time in the world to do what we needed to. Many thanks to the nice gentleman who helped us (who can be seen in the picture). Also, the building that the Correos is housed in is BEAUTIFUL inside and out. Thank you! read more
