I lived in Granada for a semester in the fall of 2005. It was my first exposure to Zara. I was…read moreattracted to because of their modern business model. Instead of creating a seasonal line of clothing, revealing it, then being stuck with it until the next season, Zara tracks the types of items that are purchased, even the ones that are tried on, and they order more of those. If people are not buying an item, they don't make any more of them. They initially make less stock, so everything feels like a last-of-its-kind find, which can make it frustrating if a particularly cute shirt is not available in your size. I bought a shirt that said 'The Brightest Idea" with a sequined lightbulb, a shirt with a fairytale drawing of a hedgehog, which was semi-transparent in the chestal region, and a pair of jeans. The jeans said they were on sale, but I was charged full price, because the sale tag wasn't supposed to be on them. Bummer. I seek out Zara wherever I find it, because i know their stock is always rolling around, adding new items and fading strange unsellable items into the background. I also like it because it's a business-savvy Spanish company.
