The evening turned into a lively night. Watching the young cast navigate those first-night jitters with such grace became a joy. The audience felt their excitement in every note. Walking through those doors brought back a flood of memories--most notably, our best man Andrew's wedding. Rare to find a space that can host both life's biggest milestones and the budding dreams of local actors. The Hangar has built a reputation for excellence. I feel proud to support it.

Parking was a breeze which was really nice - the theatre is also conveniently located so you can hop right back on the road and head home after seeing a show if coming from Rochester region. I loved that they served finger lakes wine at the concession stand, and all of the volunteers and staff I encountered were wonderful and helpful. We went on a HOT day, and I wish for the outdoor stage they would have sprung for a covered option. The bulk of the audience were boiling by the time the razors came out, and we still had two hours of murderous fun left to go. The show itself had its great and not so great moments (I am not sure if it was a budgetary thing but the set for this show was...off putting. I don't need to be reminded that they're eating humans in word form on the set - there's a Greek chorus to remind me every other scene! Also, there were pretty severe issues with the mix and sound. Forgetting to turn actors mics back on, inability to hear the orchestra at times, etc.) Overall the cast and team at Hangar absolutely did the best they could given the circumstances all theatres are being forced to operate under right now, and I am SO GLAD to be out watching theatre and making snide comments about sets again! We weren't sure what to expect since we often attend theatrical productions on Broadway in New York City, however, the cast and the staging and direction was so professional, that this show could have been performed in Schubert Alley! If you have a chance to attend one of their shows this summer , get tickets and if you live in the vicinity, consider buying a subscription! The theater is a lovely building overlooking a large lake and they serve very reasonably priced refreshments!

The level of talent was very strong and across the board. I hesitated to write a review of the theater until I had seen at least 2 shows. When looking at theater companies the more shows you see the better you can gage the consistency of shows. This time I saw "Making God Laugh" and had the same experience that I had a year ago. (I will not review the play but the theater itself) The staff are open, friendly and truly have a love of their theater. A quaint 2 story building that from the outside gives the feel that your coming over to grandmas house to meet family. The area around is a nice park with a lake. Perfect for a family picnic before the show. Inside the theater is not a small black box. This is a fully functioning professional theater. An excellent lighting grid, the sets are fully realized as well as the talent. Price per show is well worth it. Air conditioned, comfortable seats and good acoustics make the experience enjoyable. The best part (as in all theater) is the quality of the shows. The technical meets the performances. I truly enjoyed both nights of theater. Professional quality shows with a home town local vibe... A gem in the crown of regional theater.

The staff is always kind and friendly, and you can see new movies for much less than you'd pay at a Regal or AMC in Binghamton or Ithaca without having to drive out of town on icy roads in winter. You also don't have to sit through a half hour of ads before your movie plays like you do at Regal theaters. No question that it's old and a bit worn, but Cortland will damn sure miss it if it's gone.

I'm not from the area, but I'd be happy to come back here again if I were. As long as you expect a small theater and not a Regal or AMC multiplex, you'll have an enjoyable visit.

Homer NY really has a gem in the Center for the Arts. After reading about the plan to get this off…read morethe ground and then seeing it come to life, it took me way too long to drive down and experience it for myself. They have demonstrated an ability to pull in national acts and bands that are perhaps past their time in the spotlight but still firing on all cylinders and get them to play in a small town in NY. The venue is gorgeous. The converted church really is built for the viewers in mind. The staff is very friendly and the small bar is perfect for a pre show drink. The town of Homer is quaint and has several Options for dining and parking. I plan on making the Center a regular part of my concert rotation.

However I've been delighted to find large crowds at (some) recent screenings ... And a few hardened cineastes like moi, at others , haw haw ... Two petty gripes: Any chance of ever getting coffee service back behind the counter again? ... I hate wrangling with the ornery keurig pods ... And, though I'm afraid this one is even more impossible -- I wish that for those of us walking back to C-town, that someone could persuade the groundskeeping powers-that-be not to chain the external steps in (endless) winter-time ... It's such a much faster & less lung-crushing way of getting back up to the top ... I guess they feel they have to do that though -- just so that if I slip on the ice & sue Uncle Ezra, that they can remind me that I stepped over the dang chains ... Oh well ... In concluding, what with all the multifarious distraction options these days, it'll probably never again be like it was in the "big 80's" -- when Statler would fill up every weekend with frat boys stomping on the floor and shouting "Tastes Great!" in unison, only to hear their coy sorority counterparts respond in coy contralto, "Less Filling!" ... before every picture ... There's not often a film I desperately want to see at Cornell Cinema (most are classic films I…read morecould watch for free on Netflix, for example), but the occasional director's appearance or screening of a film that's just finished its run and thus no longer (or was never) at one of the other theaters in town makes it worthwhile (and given it's on the Cornell campus, it's much more convenient than the Regal out at the mall if you don't have a car). A couple other good reasons: the price is right for Cornell affiliates (tickets are only $5 for grad students) and the space is beautiful - the one-screen cinema is set in a soaring, classic 1920s auditorium covered in stunning murals. In the warmer months, screenings are even held outside. If you happen to be from Boston or are familiar with the Harvard Square area of Cambridge, MA, the CC is roughly Ithaca's equivalent to the Brattle Cinema or the Harvard Film Archive (it's university-managed like the HFA, but looks like and has offerings more along the lines of those at the Brattle).

I love it whenever I hear the Alma Mater (Far Above Cayuga's Waters). You can also request to have the chimesmasters play for your wedding (just put your request in early because there is about a 4 year waiting list!) when you get married at the Sage Chapel! Many Cornellians get married here, including a former head chimesmaster (I'm referring to you, Cathy J)!

Service was slowish but not too bad, she did her best with our large group (13) and she smiled the whole time. The menu had many safe items on it, chicken parm, NY Strip steak, etc. The entrees are on the high side, $28-$32, but we were also offered the grill menu with sandwiches and salads and fried items. In hind sight that would have been a better option. Every entree was poorly executed and everything was completely over cooked. My salmon was beyond well done and my partners steak, ordered MR was beyond well done. The vegetable was asparagus and we each received 4 small spears of asparagus, why bother? The side I chose was the curry rice and it was beyond disgusting. Everyone in our party was so disappointed but no one said a word as we were brought there by family members who are required to spend money on food every quarter or they are charged. Really? My advice if you are in this place for dinner. Order off the grill menu. I'd rather eat a sandwich than a $28 small piece of over cooked salmon.

However in 2018 and 19, with a new chef and wait staff, this is by far the best restaurant in Central New York.
