Great tile source with very friendly and helpful staff! I came into Cotopassi Tile & Stone a few months ago, as I was going to begin repairs to my shower & bathroom floor in my homes master bedroom. There had been a slow leak in the walls as a result of some faulty shower plumbing, which required the removal and re-installation of the entire shower, surrounding drywall, and bathroom tile. With this project came the need for a lot of tile, and Cortopassi was recommended by a friend of mine who's a tile contractor. So it was good to have a recommendation as looking for the best place can be overwhelming. My girlfriend and I with our boys first came in on a Saturday to look through Cortopassi's large section, and we were amazed at the large selection we found when we walked inside for all types of projects. Even though there were several customers looking around at various items, I appreciated George greeting up when we first entered and asking us if we needed any help. We gave him an idea of what we were looking for for possibly for the shower wall tile and the bathroom floor, and he let us know of some good choices that were at the large sample panel sheets. The good thing about those is that they had install examples how how that particular tile might look in a bathroom, are living room setup which really helps you visualize the final process. After looking though the door size panel displays, we'd come to an agreement on the color scheme which was to be a darker charcoal color in the shower with a lighter complimentary off white color in the shower for contrast. We also wanted something different for the shower pan an went with a multi-color stone on mesh for easy installation. George the entire time was really helpful with finding tile samples that match what we were describing, and if it wasn't exactly the color he'd go to the next color that was within the range we described. We ultimately choice the colors we wanted that day, but came back a week or two later when the master bathroom project finally started. The particular tile we chose for the shower was actually just discontinued and there wasn't enough left at the manufacturer in Italy to do our project....talk about heart breaking. But George and either Elaine or Alicia were very helpful in finding another tile in stock that matched as closely as possible, with them finding several pieces that were within the original price range. One of which a little more expensive, but they were willing to bring the price down to the original tile I chose if I so chose to go with that particular version. I thought that was really nice of them, and showed caring and understanding. OVERALL: Large selection of tile in the showroom, and tile installation and grout supplies in the back room. Very friendly staff who are really helpful and can help minimize the stress of having so many choices to choose from. This experience was definitely an eye opener. read more

I was introduced to this place by the contractor who remodeled our bathroom. Honestly, I'd of never known about these guys unless he would have brought me there to pick up some things we'd need for the finish work. Jerry and his staff are super-friendly and knowledgeable. They know their business and can help with finding just about anything you need tile-related. Hubs and I have been looking at tiles for a DIY bathroom remodel for over 8 months. We visited Cortopassi and tons of other stores including several big box shops. But ultimately we ended up ordering nearly 160 sq ft of tile from them. When we did finally order the tile, we were given a reduced price. The wait for our order took only a few days. George and Elaine assisted us in our many visits. (Seinfeld pun not intended). Pamela helped us the other day on our additional order, plus Oliver brightened our day. The showroom is filled with sample tiles and displays. The tiles are of quality and ranging in pricing and styles. The back area sells tiling supplies, equipment, tools, and holds some inventory. On Saturday's, the showroom can get busy with more customers than staff. You may have to wait your turn to be helped, it's best to wait at the counter near the front door. They do let you borrow full size tile samples, which came in handy to compare color matches before making our final decision. We only bought tiles from them, we had a great experience. read more

I first became aware of Cortopassi some years ago when I would hear the advertisements on my favorite (but now defunct) radio station 94.7 KSSJ. DJ Lynda Clayton would speak about how great the store was and how she loved the tile she purchased from them for her own home. She would make the statement, "tell them Lynda Clayton sent you!" Then, I finally got to visit this place because I found out that my boyfriend is a loyal customer. We would usually enter the showroom side which is like a tile display wonderland. Beautiful tiles in all colors, shapes, sizes and textures. I couldn't help but wander through the store dreaming about how I would love to have some of these in my own home. But alas, good quality tile is expensive when you start adding it up. This is a specialty store, so while you may find some cheaper products offered here, the top quality stuff is meant to last. There is another side of the warehouse that is devoted to installing the tiles. Every tool necessary can be found here to make the job easier. You don't see this much at local hardware stores. They even have colored grout to add more style to your tile design. Products are available for kitchen, bathroom, walls, floors, and outdoor placement. Customer service personnel are on staff with expert knowledge to give advice and help to make your installation ideas work for you. The smooth voice of the lovely and talented DJ Lynda Clayton initially sparked my interest in visiting Cortopassi, and my boyfriend doesn't mind bringing me here every now and then to browse and dream. I can't help but recommend this store if you are looking for unique and designer quality products. And every time I go there I want to say "Lynda Clayton sent me"! A huge shout out to Alicia who really saved our project from being pushed out a week. We ordered tile from Flooring Liquidators - quoted a date for delivery that was pushed out twice hence leaving us with contractors lined up for Monday and the tile is the key to the project and I could not find anything close to it until.....I was referred to Cortopassi and thankfully Alicia answered the phone. I explained our dilemma, she was ON IT - I had an email with some samples similar to what we had ordered from the other vendor within an hour - dim's, pricing - all of it spelled out. This review is more about their customer service than overall selection. We've been in numerous times to try and pick the tile that is right for us. Brought home and brought back several samples (complimentary which is nice). The younger girl that I believe is in the Cortopassi family now went back to college, she has always been super helpful. The man and dog Nala are great and my kids enjoyed talking to the gentleman and playing with the cute dog, but here is where they lost my business... The blond lady at the desk talks behind peoples backs and about their customers in a negative way. I've heard it a few times during our visits and didn't say anything. Today I heard her talking about us to another employee. We simply asked if the marble that stated it was "for medium use" was still alright for bathroom flooring, her sarcastic remark back was "it's marble, you can use it anywhere" wasn't well received. She then said her vendors brought in some new items, she will go back and see if there was large hex - we looked around more, waited, then saw her sitting at the desk chatting so I approached her and asked if there was anything new received...she said no and you didn't like the hex already over there so that's it. I was confused as to what she was pointing at - the hex where exactly?! (We had a handful out). Something we looked at weeks ago? Since she didn't seem to care to stand up and walk over and didn't have any other options to show, I told my family let's go. We are now heading to a different place. I don't expect you to design our flooring out but as an employee I do expect assistance, respect and attentiveness. The store was not very busy and if it was, just let us know you'll get back to us. This is a great resource for a quality home remodel project. I you want your home to look better than Box Store products off, this is the place. Way out (for us) in the Rancho Cordova business complex area, it was a bit of a trek...but worth it. Great options and good resources. We found what we wanted (not in stock - had to order) and it was fairly priced. Project turned out great. ***Do not shop in this store if you are hoping employees will practice social distancing or wear face masks, and cover their mouth and nose while you are there. I have been to this tiny store location a couple of times during Covid. After leaving the store the first time because employees were totally right in my face, not social distancing and not wearing masks. As I left I made a request asking the employees to wear masks as every customer in the store was. I returned a month and a half later hoping things had changed so I could shop there. There was an employee who did wear a mask this time (even though most of the other employees were not), however she could not manage to cover her nose for some reason, and then dropped her mask every chance she got. read more

I have been in their tile show room a few times but I really cannot review it because I do not buy tile. Women buy tile and then they usually depend on us men to install it. That is where the other side of Cortopassi comes into play. This is the part that most people don't see. It is a warehouse full of man toys. You need a tile saw? They have way too many to choose from. You need a straight edge or a level? They also have plenty of them to choose from along with almost everything you can think of to help you install your tile. What are you going to stick your tile to? Not only do they have tile board, they also have innovative materials you could never even think of and a well informed staff that is only too happy to discuss what to use and how to install it. With the different kinds of tiles and all of the new surfaces to stick them to, there are multiple kinds of adhesive materials to stick your tile to the walls and floor. The people at Cortopassi are only too happy to help you figure out the right materials for your needs. Now that you have the tools that you need and you have your tile stuck to your walls and floor, you have to figure out what you want to put between the tiles. You have already tried to cut corners by going to Home Depot or Lowes and their very limited grout color selection makes you want to throw up. Cortopassi has more kinds of grout and colors than you would ever believe. They even have grout that does not need to be sealed and will never stain. Well, maybe "not never", some people could stain anything but they are extremely stain resistant. Like I said earlier, this warehouse is full of man toys and a very knowledgeable staff that is only too eager to help you with all of your tile installation needs. read more

If I could give this company zero I would. I purchased a blade there for $55, and when I took it home and put it on the new saw it was chipping the edges of every single tile. I put the blade that came with the saw, which is more often than not of less quality than a premium blade, and it actually cut much better than the blade that I had purchased from Cortopassi. I called to see if they would return the blade after only four days, or even Credit the money towards a much better blade that was $100. The owner said he would only consider a refund only after he took the blade home and made cuts on his personal saw with the blade. He wouldn't even consider another viable option. His response was, "many people have brought in blades and I have use them on my saw and they cut just fine." That told me two things: 1. Many other customers have had similar experiences to mine, purchasing a crappy blade from them, and 2. He was going to take my blade, get the most use out of it, and then give it back to me and say it cuts fine to avoid giving me a refund. They claim to be a family owned business that cares about customer service, but they are the worst tile company I have dealt with thus far STAY AWAY!!! read more

Overpriced and worse yet, very bad customer service! I waited for 20 min when I was supposedly the next customer. Another day I returned and no customers were in there except me, as I sat at their counter waiting for them to "finish" writing what they were doing, 5 min later, no acknowledgment, I just left. I am a 65 yrs. old General Contractor who has been doing business with Cortopassi for almost 20 years. They have always been extremely helpful and polite assisting me with the learning process along the way. Giving me a wide variety of choices and recommendations to upscale my work for my clients. Excellent people, very knowledgeable design variety depending on your needs. I had Covid early Feb. 2019, so I don't feel the need to wear a face diaper. (They don't work anyway) I'm a certified Mold Remediator who understands the physical limitations of N95 masks much less cloth masks. If you can smell thru a mask it won't protect you from Covid, Period. If your the type of person who complains that others don't wear a mask, but you do, what are you worried about if they work? Do you really think a face shield works too? Outdoor dining in a tent is OK, but not indoor dining? Really? Hmmm Perhaps you should just stay home and not risk driving either, the odds are much higher for auto fatalities. read more

Their sales team is excellent! That said, I ordered white tile and unknowingly picked up ten boxes of grey tile, and also received several broken tiles. The ordering department does not check shipments that come in, they simply pass them along to the customer. They had to reorder, which took an additional two and a half weeks. I would never shop here again, although they do have quality products. read more

Received several broken pieces of tiles and bullnose. Also received half of my order in a different color than what I ordered. I was never told during pick up that there were broken pieces. About 7 days later I received a call telling me my tile was in. When I questioned them, that was the first time I learned about broken pieces. The store was not at all aware that half of my order was in the wrong color as they never read the color printed on the boxes. Customer service is seriously lacking. There return policy violates California Civil Code section 1723. They charge a credit card refund fee (5%), without informing customers about their refund policy. And a refund policy printed on a receipt is not sufficient by law! So only buy what you absolutely know you will use!! Or go elsewhere. read more

They seem great until you have a problem (the onus is on the customer then). We also received conflicting advice on installing our tile. We waited longer than were told for the tile to come in and then waited almost a week before we finally were offered a solution to the damaged tile we received (about 10% of the lot). They did not initiate much and they made us wait till they got some answer from the tile Rep?? The Tile Rep is just a middleman and Cortopassi should realize their customers should not be concerned with them or what they want to do with damaged tile. It also conflicts with the fact that you must not install any of the tile if you plan on returning it. The tile is ordered in lots, so, you will probably never get replacement tile from the same lot and lots vary (that's why you order all your tile at once). Arizona Tile is upfront about this and encourages you to get it all at once since it is just how tile is made. Cortopassi has some nice tile, however, you can find the tile they have (and have to order anyway) much cheaper elsewhere and obviously it doesn't matter much about any problems that surface. read more

Waited, and waited. Finally, we asked if they could email or text the information, since we needed to get going. Yes! They took our information. Waited, and waited. No text. No email. I have been working with Cortopassi for nearly a year on a kitchen/bath remodel with some unique, custom tiles as well as more standard tiles. They have been nothing short of fantastic. The professionals in the showroom - George, Alicia, and especially Elaine Nava - have offered great advice and clearly know their business. I am certain I avoided rookie mistakes because of their design help. They really care about their customers and will take the time to help you, no matter how small the project. It is my favorite showroom, too. They've got scads of tile samples in nooks and crannies vs. those big showrooms that pair up things for you. Those large showrooms leave me uninspired. So go to Cortopassi - spend a couple of hours - take the time to look everywhere for your perfect tile. Now I will mention that for one part of my project I ordered marble tiles via an online retailer because a friend recommended them. Of all the tile projects in my house - this was the one that gave me problems, both in quality and quantity. It is not worth the scant dollar savings when you make work for your installer and yourself. When I layed the sheets out to put a coat of sealer on them, I could see the floor tiles were like they were from different quarries. Bad. And, the backsplash tiles did not color match the floor, so I had to reorder those. The installer complained about the inconsistent size of the tile and there also was not enough to finish the job - the retailer had underestimated. So I learned a good lesson - stay with the professionals. Another compliment goes to the warehouse/stock room. Those guys out there also know their tile and helped me too with grout questions, shower drain questions, et al. On Thursdays they provide free hotdogs for their customers and on Fridays there are doughnuts. How great is that? I am so thankful to Cortopassi, for without their help, this beautiful and unique kitchen remodel would never have come about. read more

We ordered tile for walls and rock for shower floor from another tile company in the area which was said to be delivered on a Wednesday. However, when my contractor presented to pick up the tile and rock, they said, the rock will be in in 3 weeks. Come'on!...really. We need it now! We were pending final inspection and in middle of refinance so times were very tight. Elaine was very professional and calming to my wife and I. She led us to a better product that was chosen at the "other place." Long story short, the ordered it and it was ready for pick up the next afternoon. We are now on track for final inspection and refinance! I must say, I am much happier with Cortopassi's customer service, products and professionalism. THANK YOU! Good selection of products, but unfortunately, their customer service has really gotten bad. Ordered over the phone, was told I would have to pay a freight charge to get the tile to their store (sounded lame but whatever, I paid it.) Receipt wasn't received after asking repeatedly (was told they had been very busy.) Wrong tile was shipped, took several calls/emails and a couple more weeks to get the correct tile, 15% of the tile was broken upon arrival which they hadn't noticed. Apologies they would fix it but didn't hear back. Emails sent with no reply. Two weeks after the broken pieces were re-ordered, I called back, was told George (who had handled my order) was on vacation and my tile wasn't in. Appeared it had never been reordered?? The person I spoke with didn't know about my tile issues. Now I am just waiting for a refund for my broken pieces. Really unfortunate, as I've worked with this company before. Their service has really gone down hill. I could have ordered this tile online after seeing it in their showroom but wanted to support a local business. That was a mistake. I can't think of any other supplier that I can say that about. Their business ethics are first class and they are great people to work with. My realtor suggested Cortopassi Tile after we did some renovations in the house we bought. Unfortunately, after installing a pot filler, we broke some of the original tiles, and went shopping to look for more to fix it. The gentleman in the showroom recognized the series that was installed, but said it was no longer available. He recommended a tile series that closely matched to what we had and also showed us some alternate design ideas with contrasting mosaic colors. We were able to check out samples to compare to the backsplash. He was really patient and friendly. read more

A fair selection of tiles, but not of actual stone pieces. I originally was looking for real marble/stone 12 x 24 tile pieces for one of the bathrooms. I noticed many Mexican tile selections and fell in love with one of the patterns. After I was shown a sample of it, and I was allowed to check it out, I ordered approximately $400.00 worth of the tile. When it arrived, it was extremely different than the sample piece I had kept with me. One of the employees whom was there when I picked it up, (other two females were chatting on stools ignoring myself and another customer whom walked in) stated it was different, but that she liked the new one better. I mentioned it was not like my original tile, and she asked me where it had come from.... really? From Cortopassi! She explained to me that when I ordered the tile, I should have had a sample from the current batch of tiles before I placed my "non refundable tile order". Well, I would have, IF I had known I should have done this. When I asked why they didn't tell me to do that, (since they are the ones in the tile business, and supposedly knew to do that, aka, their job not mine) she said she spoke with another rep. and that he said I was too busy at the time! What?! Don't make assumptions on my behalf. I still have another 4 months until the tile is needed, and they had been storing it, so you would think he would have realized his lie. Needless to say, this is the ONLY piece of tile in my entire house I will be purchasing from this company, as I was forced to pay in full, with ZERO help/expertise from this company. These guys are so welcoming and helpful. I went in there several times while looking for backsplash tile. They always greeted me with a smile and verbal acknowledgment. I must have gone to at least half a dozen other tile stores in the area. Half acted like they were too stuck up and too good for everyone. The other half were too busy playing on their phones. I noticed that George and Elaine were always very helpful to everyone who walked through the door. Even if they were busy they took a moment to give them a warm hello and tell them they would help them just as soon as they could. Unfortunately they did not carry the tile I finally decided on.
