You can grab tickets online or in person, and they have a really cute gift shop with fun little trinkets worth browsing before or after your tour. Our tour guide Lee was so amazing! He's been there for years and years and you can just tell. Great stories, super personable, the kind of guide that makes the whole experience way more memorable. We even spotted a bat hibernating which was such a cool unexpected moment! The cave itself is fascinating and I loved that it was great for all ages. Our group ranged from little kids to people in their 70s and everyone was into it with no problems. A few spots can get slightly slippery so just watch your step, but there are handrails throughout so nothing felt unsafe. Also found out they host events here too like a black light event and even concerts inside the cave which sounds incredibly cool. Definitely want to come back for one of those. Overall I was really impressed and would highly recommend adding this to your Missouri road trip list.

In the fall, the park comes alive for Heritage Festival, which is always fun to see. Any other day of the year though, it's not uncommon to be the only person wandering the grounds. The Maplewood Barn Theater also operates out of the park- though I've never been to a show, I've heard great things and I can't imagine watching a play in the park would be anything less than delightful.

People also not only don't discipline their dog, but they expect dogs to act like HUMANS. My dog likes to mount other dogs. I do correct him. It's NOT a SEXUAL THING as he is neutered it's a dominance thing. People act horrified as if my dog is raping theirs. It's asinine. This is what dogs do in the wild. They try to establish dominance. When the other dog has an issue with it, he or she will let that other dog know, you are NOT dominating me. People don't allow their dog to stop the other dog which is NATURALLY DONE IN THE WILD. They are DOGS not HUMANS. I have been taking my dog elsewhere lately and it's been much more peaceful. Since the rangers or whoever, refuse to monitor what goes on at these dog parks, one day it's going to get very ugly.

Any city across the country would love to have park like Albert-Oakland (sadly many don't). I came for the disc golf. Two 18 holes courses (wow!). The original winds through gentle slopes and wooded areas, complete with tough dog legs and water hazards. The newer course mostly takes you up and down a large hill. While this newer course's layout is a bit simpler than the original, you will be throwing around plenty of well-placed trees and other obstacles. You could spend all day here and never be bored. I hope to be back the next time I'm in Columbia!
