Since Agape has taken over I've seen this place deteriorate. The tennis courts aren't blown off and there are leaves on the courts that are hazards if you're running. The numbers for scoring are missing or unusable. Just 1 person working. Not acceptable read more

Came here to play a tennis league game. I tend to rate the places I play tennis at based on their bathroom situation. ;) It is a more public tennis center which shows in the bathroom situation and lack of water on the courts. We also did not have enough chairs for everyone playing so our bags had to be placed on the ground. The courts themselves were nicely surfaced and clear of any leaves and such that could cause a slip and fall. There was plenty of parking and was located near a playground and skate park in a cute area. I'm not sure of the cost to play, but would recommend bringing extra water and using the bathroom before you arrive. read more

Since nobody works there and there is no information online, let me inform you that these tennis courts ARE NOT FREE and rarely even have employees to assist you if you want to pay to play. Just a waste of time coming here unless you're part of a group or club. They don't want anybody walking in. Was there on a Sunday afternoon and nobody was there to help, and all courts were empty. What a waste of tax payer funded space. Shame on Costa Mesa. read more

I don't understand why the city is wasting so much time and resources on this place. Literally any other public park would be more deserving. Disappointed that this is taking away valuable resources from other more deserving facilities. A wealthy, small minority of people have taken this public space over as their private country club and blocked everyone else out. It's hardly a public space at all anymore. So much for "community." The ownership. This used to be a sweet family community tennis experience but the new owner is unfair and disrespectful. My daughter had to miss being sick and he said no makeups or reimbursements but he's allowed to cancel on you at your expense. The old setup always allowed if you were sick to at least do a makeup. So I told him he will no longer get our business as his response was so rude. Then he responded by putting my daughter down. So arrogant. Costa Mesa City what did you do? Shameful. read more

Great public tennis courts. They have a ball machine and lessons for beginners and advanced players.

We have lived in Costa Mesa for over 20 years and never knew about this hidden gem. We discovered it this summer from the Costa Mesa activities guide and signed our daughter up for a one-week session. Coach Eduardo made learning tennis so much fun that we have since signed her up for more sessions. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I've known Hank and Maureen for over 25 years. I would go to their Hank Lloyd's location in Tustin on Newport Ave. all the time as a kid for lessons and always loved interacting with Hank and Maureen. They are both extremely kind people that have a tremendous amount of tennis and retail experience. Hank is one of the best coaches around. He knows his craft, and he knows kids, and/or how to coach any age. Maureen is a sweetheart. Altogether, Costa Mesa Tennis Center provides great coaching and opportunities to fall in love with the greatest game in the world. Hank and Maureen also do a fantastic job of carrying all the best tennis product (I'm biased to their Babolat product, :)) to meet your tennis playing needs. This place has nice hard courts for $10 an hour, decent lights, free parking, and pro shop. If you break your strings you can get them restrung here. You can buy tennis balls, rackets, and clothing. That's really all a tennis player needs. I finally met the legendary Hank Lloyd today who is very nice and well connected man in the tennis community. I've played on these courts many times over the years, and enjoy the professional service of the counter persons and pro shop. They also have tennis events for the tennis bum such as men's doubles nights and tournaments of all skill levels. They had some of the top 100 ranked men's tennis pros in the world here recently for a tournament and it was inspiring. There are places for your friends to sit and watch you play if they want, and I like that there are some trees to provide some cooling shade. My only complaint is that sometimes the skate park and the dog park can make the surrounding areas loud. It might be heaven for you if you're a tennis player, dog owner, and skate boarder! But please wipe off any dog crap you step on before stepping onto the courts. Other than that, I really like these courts. Every year for about the past 10 years, I play at Costa Mesa Tennis Center during the Southern California Spring league sectionals. It's held at Los Cab and Costa Mesa. There are 12 lighted tennis courts. I've played on the Costa Mesa tennis courts about 20 times and the courts are medium-fast. It has been a long time since the courts have been resurfaced. In the afternoons, there are lots of shadows on many of the courts. The lights on the courts could be better, so if you have a hard time seeing under the lights, then I would suggest going to a different venue. Right next to the courts is a small tennis shop with bathrooms for men and women. The shop has the basics, so if you need a full line of racquets, clothes, shoes, or strings/accessories, then you might want to go to another tennis shop. Overall, it's a nicely run facility with 12 courts. I'm not sure what the cost is to play at Costa Mesa TC since the tournament pays for the courts when we play during the playoffs. This review is for two private lessons I had with Hank at the Tennis Center. After watching tennis on TV for decades, I finally worked up the courage to take a couple of lessons, my first ever, in order to learn the basics and hopefully start playing with some friends. Hank could not have been a more effective, patient and gracious coach! He coached me on the basics: forehand, backhand, volley and serve. He was always so encouraging and the time just flew. I feel so prepared to go out and rally and enjoy the sport as a participant and not just a spectator. I highly recommend him no matter what your ability! read more

Can I just give a little shout out to Eddie? My kid takes group lessons here once a week and I was expecting an acceptable experience, without frills given the affordable price. I'm a girl who has a little something to say about every experience and I was completely thrilled with how Eddie handled the kids. They were constantly moving, always picking up little swing tips, and he kept it fun without letting them screw around. First day on the court a little guy got beaned by a moving racket and Eddie, barely missing a swing, helped him shake it off and kept all the other kids going. He doesn't let the kids' craziness affect him, and has such a positive attitude. He says things like "The swing had too much SALSA!" when a kid whacks it, and the kids seem to respect him. (It helps us moms in the stands that he's pretty easy on the eyes. :) All around, LOVE my experience here. My kid's getting a workout and she now loves tennis because of this instructor's positive attitude. p.s. The tennis center lets kids borrow rackets. Super helpful for those of us with not much $$ to spread around to accessories. read more

I have been patronizing the CM Tennis Center for many years and now my son is taking lessons there and playing on their team. This is easily the most fun place to be involved in tennis due to Hank and the coaches there. It is also the most reasonably priced tennis facility in the area. I would love it if they improved their communications and online presence a bit and set up an online scheduling system but maybe it's better the way it is if they make it too easy and get too popular it might be tough to get a spot over there! read more

Such a great group of people for Tennis clinics. Hank Lloyd is always very positive and I love Syd and Cameron's ladies doubles clinic. Definitely improved my game and mentally and physically. The courts are well kept and always cute outfits on sale in the shop. read more

Very nice courts , but not good for watching anybody play. The fences are lined with black screen for wind . Hard to view thru them. Park is a quiet and peaceful place to read a book or take a nap while gails plays tennis . read more

The coaches are very helpful and accommodating. I've been utilizing this location off and on for 40 years with no complaints.

You won't find better tennis instruction in Orange County than this place. Hank, Syd, Cam and Eddie are the best!

My tennis instructor recommended I get a racquet from them because if I told them he referred me, they would give me a discount. So I went went in, picked out a racquet and told them about the price my tennis instructor mentioned. I dealt with Hanks wife and she told me there was no discount. So I decided to wait and spoke with my instructor and he said he would call them. So I went back a few days later and Hank was there. I told him my instructor told me about the price and Hank said that he heard about the discounted price my instructor quoted me and said he was "offended" that I mentioned the low price and went on a rant about how his margins are so low on racquets and that websites like tennis warehouse are taking his customers. So he said he would give me a discount and ended up charging me full price and I asked him about the discount and he said, "Well I wont charge you for stringing the racquet." Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Now I know why he is losing customers to tennis warehouse, because that's where I will be going for my next racquet and not this place. read more
